Unfortunately I think it still is.

You will always have parents who like to "show off" how much money they have by trying to make their little darling the best dressed child in the class.

Nothing wrong with that, that’s the truth, some are rich some are poor, that’s life, why be so sensitive and political correct,oh yeah people these days are weak, brainwashed by the media, told everyone to look the, eat the  same and be the same... when everyone are different that’s the way to live. I don’t lose sleep on that my neighbor have a much nicer car then med or he’s clothes are more expensive then mine...

only socialist, radical leftist, communists want everyone to look the same, reading through TVF comments daily it’s easy to see that Thailand attract many of them, unfortunately.

Maybe she should get into the new world of social media, selfies etc., the reason for uniform, is that every student doesn't have to worry about peer pressure, when it comes to their clothes.

Subsidising uniforms for poorer families would be a far better idea.

In the civilized world students don’t need to wear school uniforms.

there will always be some pressure about about how you look, what you wear and how nice phone etc you have, it’s time to raise children to be strong and not weak, todays children especially in the western world suffer from psychological problems because their parents are raising them wrong..

in the 70-80-90s children spent more time outside, had more accidents, learned from there mistakes the hard way, and was more rough, todays cotton-children are weak...

  3. So the guy tha poured beer on my dogs the other day is definitely a an <deleted>,he don’t like dogs. A lovely dog that usually walks on he’s on back and forth everyday and don’t cause any trouble, never bark, I see no aggression, mr. <deleted> neighbor just kicked the dog a bit for no reason an probably told the dog to go away even when the dog isn’t bothering anyone... maybe he is a songtaew or a tuk tuk low energy high aggression person. Let’s hope he don’t last long..

When it all boils down, are they not ALL political opportunists vying for that place at the trough and their greedy share of swill. The only way most peoples lives have been altered in the past 20 years is through massive household debt. When 1% control 66% of the wealth there is little chance anything will improve for the impoverished.

In socialismistan 99% are poor and control 1% of the wealth and the government owns the 99% of the wealth.

definitely you need to learn the thai alphabet first.

I think you may need a maths tutor as well.

    16 divided by 7 or even 5 doesn’t equal 6

I meant that I will do 16 hours a week,    But she told me I can do as many hours as I wanted, but I won’t be doing 6 hours a day. The schedules are 10-12, 13-15, 15-17.

if I did 6 hours a day 5 times a week that will be 30 hours, to much for me.

I can speak basic thai, but I do understand much more then I can speak. I will say I’m better at numbers then words. Next month I will go to learn some more Thai, i signed up for a course last week because as you said it’s necessary.

i will say I have been lazy, but at least I will start soon when the class level 1 starts.

The teacher took up some pages of the Thai alphabet and told me, let’s start to learn the alphabet first,

i must say she was out of her by doing that, but again it might be the best way to learn thai or the worst.

16 hours a week for 4 months first, but told me to do as many hours as I wanted, but that to much.. 6 hours da day, no thank you.

I would have barked out loudly at him.

I barked loudly to my dogs and told them to come inside haha! a big problem is if your neighbors or someone in your neighborhood doesn’t like you or your dogs, they will poison your dogs, this happen regularly. What it’s strange about this neighborhood is that my neighbors on the opposite site actually talked to me the first day I moved in 3 months ago and always give me a smile and talk to me,but the neighbors on the the the right that poured the beer on them have always had the angry face even when I have given them a smile and said hello.

Most Thais are nice and good people, but then you have the drunken somchai that always get upset easily.

You can expect to see a lot more of this when a packet of taxed cigarettes costs more than a quarter of a days average pay later in the year.

Thai gov  is creating a new crime industry.

The average wage is about 450 a day, but it’s not easy to know the real wage, simply because there are some many vendors around the country that doesn’t pay any taxes or anything, I had a friend who had a coffee shop near the mall tha prae Bangkok, she made around 1200 baht a day after paying for all the expenses like coffee, straws, napkins, etc, owns a house, a car and also have a apartment, works from 05:00 but open shop 06:00 to 11:00 that’s no time many hours of working. Vendors always dress like they’re poor but that doesn’t mean they are...

the cigarette prices are ridiculous compared to Philippines,Vietnam and Indonesia, like 4-5 times higher.

I think the author is a bit confused - there is no “Thanathorn debate” It is very clear to the rest of the world that the charges against him are totally unfounded - brought by an illegitimate government that came to power by illegal means - it is that simple!

In fact in any civilized country lending support to a pro-democracy activist who stands up to a dictatorship would land you a Medal of Honor not a prosecution.

But the author does not understand that otherwise he would have spoken out during the last 5 years when he watched the systematic dismantling of free speech and other democratic values in this country!

Try to spin it whichever way you want and in good Thai fashion try to lay the blame on everybody else.

It is very telling that the author and many others find the attendance of diplomats questionable but not the ridiculous charges and questionable legal proceedings against Thanathorn.

Then an endless rant and comparisons with UN the US is all he can come up with.

I was lucky enough to grow up in a really democratic European country and only when we travel to un-democratic countries we realize the value of democracy and the rule of law!

Of course the author would not know that because he has never lived in a real democracy where the rule of law applies to all without exception.

I think the author has to learn that a countries standing on the world stage is not measured by what lying, cheating politicians or wannabe dictators churn out - but what a country contributes to the international community at non-governmental levels in terms of culture, inventions, peaceful interaction and support, social contributions, academic interactions e.g. and in that perspective Thailand has very little to contribute to the world - hence it is a nobody on the international stage.

The current Thai government and it’s sable rattling is like the bully from a small village who moves to a large city and suddenly finds out that without his reputation preceding him he is suddenly a nobody and nobody is afraid of him - because nobody outside his village is aware that he is a bully.

Only when this bully sees his chance in the new environment and realizes that he has to change and become a valuable contributing member of the community he will be accepted and embraced! Pretending to be the “tough guy” gets him nowhere!

Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Where is Nigel farage medal to stand up to the EU dictatorship??

Thailands “democracy” and EUs “democracy” is literally the same shit..

European countries should be independent and democratic just like New Zealand,Australia,US and Canada period!

In Western democracies the military serves the people - in Thailand everyone serves the military! ????

No wrong, in the western “democracy” at least in Europe everyone serves the unelected  bureaucrats that doesn’t believe in countries sovereignty, just look at how the bullies in Brussels behave towards brexit...

democracy is about people are in charge and control their country...

The term democracy have changed rapidly the last two decades two fit the unelected uneducated rants in Brussels opinion...

so everyone comment on thaivisaforum over and over again shouldn’t forget that if they are from a country member of the European Union should be quiet... if you are from Canada, USA, Switzerland then you have the right to complain, but it’s a bit double standard bashing Thailand on their democracy while you are a Eu person where democracy doesn’t exist anymore ????????

No I think I will just stay with tourist visas...

Same same here... easy for those that are on retirement visa or marriage visa to telll others to get the correct visa if want to stay in Thailand, and if not get the elite visa, firstly not everyone want to marry a women or are over the age of 50 years, then they will say get the elite visa 5 years = 500k , while those on retirement visa or marriage visa pay only few thousands of baht and have there visa but have to prove they got money in the bank, easy peasy...

shoukd have some visa fit us under 50 years of age, let’s say 20,000 baht for a year visa or something similar that is a win win situation, so many wealthy people in Thailand spending much money but are to young or not married and the options are very few, elite visa is a waste of money...

“We are also investigating how the man came to own a hotel here,” he said."

Good question, and his name has not been released to the media, which is normal to do here.

So I guess he is protected somehow. And loaded with money.

It’s pretty normal to not release the name all over the world. and I’m very sure they don’t release name but especially in Norway, the media always cover up crime did by a migrant, and then if the migrant got citizenship they will say”Norwegian citizens arrested for rampage the bus” but will never go into more details. I know this, I’m Norwegian myself and I know how corrupted and dishonest media are in Norway, sad but true, it wasn’t like that 20 years ago
