Oh children children. Please try to control your little selves.

All these silly little insults. Do you have nothing better to do?

And all this peacocking about who knows what's really going on.

    How old are you, 4?

    I will leave you now

You must follow this immature insults and childish displays of your prowess.

Come on children lets have a few nasty posts.

    Let the macho posturing begin!

You must be unaware that all threads on TV exceeding 5 pages gravitate towards an endless exchange of insults (or until the mods close it down)

There is always some smart*ss with far too much time on his hands around, being upset for one reason or another. The best tactic is to get them once - but get them good :)

Now I notice there is another company called      11th Street   with a similar web page set up  and likewise with the language detail , has anyone used them ?

Lazada has pretty much become a dumping ground for cheap Chinese products after the Alibaba takeover last year - people are seriously questioning the quality + the site navigation sucks due to the enormous assortment (you rarely find any relevant results in the searches).

11th Street focuses on Korean products, which the Thais go crazy for. It has much better search and the quality of the products is generally higher. There are daily actions (Shocking Bid) and other discounted daily deals.

I use Lzd for some commodity goods, but for browsing/shopping new products I use 11th Street. As for the language issues - remember that >99% of the revenue from these sites come from Thai customers. They are not really focused on catering for foreigners in Thailand.

There are some new serious players coming into SEA, Amazon has opened an office and are beefing up to get started. Good from a consumer perspective as there is a prize war coming at the horizon.

    Permanent or temporary?

I have in the past got a decent deal in Sukhumvit Suites (13) There are quite a few empty apartments in that massive building and some owners are happy to get a few baht in even if only short-term to pay the way and make a bit for a few months.

Plenty of long term advertised on notice board in lobby.

10, 000 is pushing it more than a bit though .... anywhere in that area. The lowest I once paid was 14, 000 (4 months) in advance. It was ok, but no wifi, linen, cleaning or safe so decided to pay 20, 000 baht long-term deal at Grand President (11) after that.

You get what you pay for in that area and 10k 'aint paying much.

'That massive building' you are mentioning is Trendy - they basically rent rooms by the hour. Nowadays - around 6 pm the soi gets so congested with hookers and african drug dealers that it's difficult to even make it down to 7/11.

Would not recommend anything below soi 13 on Sukmvt (on that side) or below 10 on the other.

the sad drunks in the bar (tequilla storm?) on the corner of Soi 13 etc makes me quite sad.

The "bar" you are referring to is actually a restaurant and has some of the best burgers in town. I would say most of "the sad drunks" out on the balcony, with some exception, are the same tourists you would find in your precious Ekkamai.

Okay, is it just me or does anyone else experience this with their internet connection? It seems that when it first starts to rain I lose internet connection completely. It doesn't matter if the rain is a slight drizzle or a complete downpour, I lose total connection.

No it's not just you - several internet providers come with the 'feature' of not protecting their connection stations from rain (especially outside BKK) - often there's not need for much of it to loose connection. They will send out a service guy each time over and over again.

The repair time is highly correlated to the speed of his motorbike.

you may have upset a bargirl by refusing to pay for a lady drink but not a totally anonymous corporate bank account. you Sir, are a braggart who has no idea!

Well, you don't know me (and I would never associate with anyone with your attitude) - so don't know why you even bother carrying on with your self promoting fantasies.

Maybe you're just the bully kind of type with too much time on your hands and use it to pick fights. Whatever the case might be, I'm done with you. Good luck with your recovery.

this was possible 20 years ago but now it's nothing but a wet dream. no account whether personal or corporate without beneficiary except if the company is publicly quoted and traded.

totally anonymous accounts exist only in Hollywood movies. period!

Well, I did set one up two months ago - so you are flat out wrong.

I can explain it in detail to you, but I can not comprehend it for you.

failing that how do I minimise taxes if I have to provide a thai tax number?

You don't have to provide a Thai tax number - the tax number can be connected with e.g. an offshore company, which then becomes the account holder wherever you decide to open the bank account. This account will be totally anonymous.

There are companies providing services for setting up this kind of thing - and you don't even need to show up anywhere in person. All can be handled by webcam.

Anyone who has done business with True Move will be unsurprised by this, it represents exactly the underlying ethics of the company.

It beats me why anyone could have expected anything else really...

Once again - this gym has nothing to do with True Move or other parts of True Corporation!

If you feel like slandering True Move, open up your own thread - and prepare yourself for a defamation lawsuit. Just some some friendly advise as you come across as a total newbie.

years ago I learned to never trust anything to do with true/UBC! they are one and the same as far as service is concerned. BUT until competition is available we are stuck with it! but if competition  ever does happen, they will go broke in a week!

True Fitness has nothing to do with UBC or True Corporation. As stated before, True Fitness is a chain owned and operated in parts of SEA by a Singaporean individual.

I'm surprised that he was even able to use the True name in Thailand without receiving a lawsuit.

Really? Why are they closing it? It's a great location and always looked busy

Combo of low cash flow and high rent for the space.

Exchange Tower is not exactly cheap (my company has an office there) - and once people have bought their 12 month memberships they basically train for free, while the place looks busy.

These places are dependent on constant inflow of new members and sales of side products such as drinks, training gear and supplements. At the end it just didn't add up for them.

  12. I find it fascinating and reassuring to be living in the middle of a mega city (BKK) where I can go out 3 am at night if I wish to do so - and visit an ATM, go for a walk or drop by 7/11 without having to look over my shoulder for potential muggers (unlike the places you mention).  Not that I can't handle myself - but I would rather avoid it. Two hours later I can be on a beach.

As to "widely organized societies" - the Thai society is extremely organized, just not by the government. Here everything is about (real) personal relations - and if you build and nurture those not much can go wrong.

How does that work? Buy a unit in one place and get a free one in another?

Basically yes - they seem to be offloading some inventory, mostly 1 BR (which are always the hardest to sell). I wasn't interested and didn't inquire on price but would assume they are trying to get list price or more for those units (as opposed to the minimum price that every developer has in their feasibility study).

The developer I recall was www.adh.co.th with office in Ladprao BKK (for the record - I am not affiliated in any way).

A number of the other developers were dumping Pattaya/Pratumnak units for known reasons.

I dont know how accurate this is but from what i heard ... allot of foreigners come here fall in love with the place wind up spending their life savings find out its not the paradise they thought it was and can't go home because their money is gone so they commit suicide.

They don't go home coz they have nothing to go home to - and their life savings are often spent very rapidly on the wrong things.

Yes - there is a lot of tragedy going on in the expat community, mostly self inflicted.  Wouldn't know what went on in this particular case - and wouldn't like to speculate.

At present, it would seem to be a house past Sukhumvit or potentially in Pratumnak but I do wonder whether I am missing an option or two which you may have considered and then discounted,

It might be you don't have to choose - in Siam Paragon BKK last week some of the developers were offering 2 for 1 on with a selection of Pratumnak, Cha Am and Rama IX BKK. I would expect that offer to stand in the foreseeable future.

Na Jomtien will likely take off in the next few years - especially the space around Ocean Marina where some very big projects are coming up backed by serious investors.

I noticed lately many foreigners especially Westerners choose to commit suicide here lately. Is it common in their own country or they find it easier to take their own lives here?

There is nothing new to this - has been going as long as foreigners been coming here, spending the last of their money or/and catching serious disease.

Have come across fellows that even sold their passports to stay in 'paradise' a few weeks more. Many of them simply don't want to go back to their grey lives back home - others catch serious infections like HIV and see no hope.

not adding either here, just saying that it is making new highs ! My Trezor has got a few on them, safely offline :)

Indeed waiting for a drop, me too.....but it is all a guess how far it will drop, it might as well slowly continue upwards..! We'll see, life is good.

Last one I bought was at 1980$'ish and thought that was high..?? Hmm, at what price to buy more ? Will it drop 25% ? 50 % or just 10%....

Since it is a speculating game nobody knows for sure.

Just anticipating a rapid significant move down - connected with whatever (rate adjustment, exchange hack etc) those are usually the ones that generate profit. As I'm not day trading this don't care abt the small moves.

Another nice feature is that BTC usually leads the other cryptos and can be use as an non-lagging indicator for those - if one wants to look at the short timeframes.
