  1. Pretty sure this would be a Disney decision, rather than a Thai one... ...regardless, it will never happen.
  2. So, where can I buy locally made counterfeit crap that I buy on Lazada? This is nothing to do with leveling the playing field. It's pure money grab. I hope Trump rips Thailand on tariffs and import duties. Motorcycle parts last week, via Amazon, were free delivery, and 60% import charges...
  3. Thailand supposedly has the larger military and more advanced military equipment...just blitz Cambodia into surrender - this little tit for tat and claiming and reclaiming territory is damaging Thailand and killing it's people. Just end it.
  4. Whatever is going around, I got it. Fever, aches, sore throat, phlegmy, tired, no appetite...not that pleasant and lasted maybe 10 days. You don't want to get it...whatever you want to call it.
  5. This is the break Teflon Thailand needed. They had it easy for so long. TAT could change a slogan every year and people would just turn up. They got complacent. They did not really know what worked. It just worked. Well now there are newer interesting places, cleaner beaches, easier visas, exotic food, more welcoming people and less expensive. Momentum is shifting. And the TAT don't know what is happening and how to fix it. Personally, I'd love to see Thailand slow down a little. Fix infrastructure, clean the place up, get a little more price realistic and weaken the baht... Even teflon wears out eventually, and you look for a different brand of pan...it's that time.
  6. You say that we all did not do that in our early trips to Thailand...or was it just me?
  7. You speak as if you are in the Top 5...perhaps your 34 position suggests your "comprehensive retirement visa options" are not so comprehensive.
  8. "Auntie Yingluck...best you cancel that trip back..."...
  9. So, each car cost USD$1.38 million? Seems legit.
  10. If by buying my Air Force Ones's and Dickie's pants at Siam Center, this is a "testament to the vibrant creativity and enduring spirit of the Thai people", I concur.
  11. Well, according to this post from a few years ago, he should be dead...so I expect he is still choosing joy...
  12. The US were making no money from small parcels...and they are still making no money... ...but if Trump's stance reduces some of the cost of getting stuff into Thailand, I'm all for it.
  13. The Indians were laborers, bought to Fiji by the British for the plantations (sound familiar)...and just happened to be smarter and more energetic than the Fijians...much as the Indians have done on Lower Sukhumvit...can't help it if they are hungrier and given an open door...
  14. How about giving everyone 10,000 baht in a digital wallet that they can spend to help revitalise the economy...oh...wait...never mind.
  15. The vacuum in leadership is steering this rudderless administration to make dumb decisions...
  16. Rearranging deck chairs on the SS Somchai is not going to do anything...tards.
  17. Thaksin, perhaps discuss with your Daughter what happened on that call...
  18. Thailand is past it's prime and lost momentum. It's tired, dirty, lacking, and has lost the appeal it once had for tourists in most tourist areas...not to mention the low-quality tourists they attract. There are new, different, cleaner and cheaper options elsewhere, and while Thailand will always do ok, it will never be what it once was. Thailand can flip flop between opening up to the masses and claiming they only want quality tourists, but the fact is, they will take almost any tourist they can get. It was a good ride, Thailand, and as much as I enjoy living here, the tourist gravy train is probably over...
  19. If it helps reduce import fees for my Jordans, motorcycle parts, supplments and tech stuff...I'm all for it.
  20. You're out of your league, kid... Trump's team will destroy you, I hope.
  21. "Hello, is this the Four Seasons, Dubai? I'd like to make a reservation for Friday, please"...
  22. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the wrong forum. I experience few if any problems in Thailand. I have companies and work permit and yellow tabien baan and pink ID card - everything is fairly straight forward. I do have lawyers to help with things when needed, but these kind of services are easily available. I have an outstanding quality of life and do ok. 2-week tourists should also have minimal hassles, apart from typical tourist scams. So, who are all the whiners? Long stay tourists? If you can't find decent rent, reasonable insurance (or not), cheap food and fun, and enjoy life in Thailand...then try Vietnam of the Philippines - you will enjoy it for a while...but you'll be back. Personally, I enjoy it with fewer people around...
