Moved my Thai daughter to UK this year. In terms of education and development it's the best thing we could have done for her. Thais teaching English is laughable. It's got nothing to do with education, more to do with budgets/profits.

I wonder how many people die each day from non-natural causes ? 2nd in the world for road deaths, an unusually high number of "suicides" and all manner of deaths related to drugs,drink,domestic violence and so on. It's got to be a shocking figure when totted up. Ultimately too many Thai men are just morons with no self control.

The problem with Thais is that they say anything and just expect that no one will disagree or challenge it because of face losing which of course is the corner stone of Thai culture. I'm sure like many other people on TVF I have been in these minivans more times than I would have liked. 90% of the drivers are reckless morons with no regard for their passengers or other road users whatsoever. They drive the vans like they are their own personal F1 cars. Thailand has the 2nd worse road death rate in the world.....when are the people going to wake up and smell the coffee ?

My 8 year old daughter moved from Thailand to UK this summer. She is learning far more in a much shorter day here than she ever did in Thailand. The same can be said for one of her problem classmates who also relocated to UK last year. It's hard to overstate how poor a Thai education is compared to developed countries. The curriculum to the standard of teaching staff and methods. If you have kids in Thai schools my advice would be get them out as quickly as possible. It will be the best thing you ever did for them.

I don't live in Thailand anymore so I couldn't care less. I do get tired of all the bleating expats who complain about everything yet still continue to live there. The whole dual pricing set up is a complete shakedown. Look at the Koh Samet admission fee....<deleted> do they spend it on if not themselves ? The roads on that island are a disgrace and yet it is one of the most popular weekend getaways for Thais as well as foreign tourists. The bottom line is, for all their jingoistic nationalism most Thais don't give a sh*t about the state of their own country.
