Any groups of tourists that travel en masse are usually a nightmare and generally package tourists have little idea about anything. Let them be herded around the usual photo spots and let the Thais be outraged until they count their money.

I went there to look at some rubber and palm oil plantation land a few years ago and thought it was pretty grim. Like many places in Thailand it has no character and too hot to do anything. Ideal for plantations but not humans. Rubbish holiday destination.

Great news story. I feel like I've really learned something useful. I must remember to pass this on to my friends just in case they missed it.

I agree its hard to imagine this happening somewhere else. Taxi driver runs down cop, does a runner with his gun then murders some people who told him off for not showing the least bit of courtesy to his neighbours. Where else are people this idiotic and wreckless ? I'm married to a Thai so am not anti Thai but this does have Thainess all over it. Cue the pc brigade.....

I'm guessing that many westerners have now got tired/bored/sick of Thailand and the numbers are now made up by Chinese and Indian tourists who tend to stay for a shorter time and just visit the hotspots of Pattaya and Phuket. These are probably the "quality" tourists with the least manners Thailand prefers to see because they come, spend their money and go home quickly.

Replace the word "religious" with "superstitious" and you get closer to the truth. Thais also don't like to think too much so will just accept whatever they are told or taught. In other words Thailand is the perfect breeding ground for ridiculous beliefs.

Good luck with that, the only problem is that Thais will be Thais. Songkran is almost here so time to dust off the Darwin Awards.

Thailand consistently has one of the world's worst road death toll rates. It never changes. Its all to do with the people whether it be reckless drivers or poor roads due to lack of investment or corruption. It will never change because Thailand will never change.
