One has to sympathise with these people, they get pressured into taking drugs, take them for whatever reason and get hooked and then cant stop. The British govt should be doing more to help them.
The British government needs to know about them first. Perhaps you could help with a list of names.

You sound like an old school user. What you need to understand is that kids these days are not happy unless they are totally off their heads. You want them driving on the same roads as you and your family?
But in any case, do you really believe that someone who's not too far gone has the same reaction speed as a sober driver? If you do, you should probably check out the evidence on that - because they are way slower. Having a smoke? Leave the car at home.
I actually agree that those drinking or using drugs should not be driving, so we have no argument there. I am not so sure that removing the weed or alcohol from the equation in order to solve it is the answer. Better policing and testing (drug as well as alcohol tests) and real penalties puts the onus on the driver to look after their own best interests and stay of the road.

These issues involving foreigners are increacing ever since cannabis became legal. Not to mention the other harsher drugs available in the black market!! (no puns). Allowing the free sale of cannabis has attracted all the junkies from the west to Thailand.
The guy doesn't look like a weed user to me. Your claim is nonsense anyway and totally devoid of any evidence.

Its precisely because I have considerable experience of weed that I know that I, and everyone else I know are in no way fit to drive when they have consumed enough. You seem to forget that a lot of people get so $hitfaced that they can't even walk let alone drive. Been there myself and no way would I get behind the wheel of a car.
People may think they are OK to drive when they've had a smoke - most drinkers think the same.
I don't know where you're coming from here but if you are saying that its fine to drive after using cannabis, that it just a ridiculous way of thinking.
I am saying that cannabis alone does not make driving a difficult task except for the true newbies to the drug. Drivers who do face difficulties tend to drive cautiously and slow, unlike those affected by alcohol who are careless and irresponsible. The danger probably occurs where the two are combined. But I don't believe negotiating a curve successfully would be a particular problem for a user.

You have obviously zero expensive of weed. It's the kind of ignorant comment that only non users make.

Do you Thai people really want the kind of tourists that come to Thailand because it's a cheap place to smoke weed? I don't think so. That's the point he was trying to make. It's probably helped to increase the tourist numbers but what are the character of those people? Personally I don't care for the backpacker hippy pot smokers and I know many Thai people agree with me.
It's not a cheap place to smoke weed. The weed is more expensive than I would pay in Australia for illegally grown weed.

So when does the crackdown come? The PM earlier suggested the end of the year would see the end of recreational use announced or enforced. Is that date likely to be brought forward? (I fear anything involving drugs that Thaksin is behind)

I saw an article about him when he was arrested in Japan, maybe a month or two ago. It was mentioned that next he wanted to go to Thailand.
Obviously, it would be great if idiots like him would never arrive. But then, we all can be sure that the locals will "explain" to them very soon their errors of "thinking".
Maybe next he should order drinks for a couple of girls, make pictures in the bar, and then refuse to pay. 😉
Before that he should make sure he has a good health insurance.
His health insurance won't pay if he provoked the attack and injuries.

I like old trains. Way more charm.
When you look at how the new train in Laos operates like an airline in terms of security screening and the manner in which the road from Vientianne to Luang Prabang has been allowed to deteriorate, you kind of long for the good old days. Not that Laos ever had any such day with a railway.

Dry herb vaporizers are available and legal in Thailand.
It is forbiden to smoke anything in a condo except in the designated areas by law, including weed.
Really? The only one I had heard was available was the Dynavap.

Not sure what Australian banks charge for overseas card usage?

Indeed. He's worried about then children, but they've been smoking weed (and meth) forever and will continue to do so. They're not the ones entering the tourist weed shops and spending 300 - 1000 for a gram. The tourists are - that's where the 1.2 Billion is coming from since it's the legal and reported (and taxed) part of weed in the country. Are they really going to cut 40 Billi9n THB from the economy? Madness
There are plenty of weed shops which are well outside and beyond tourist areas - for instance, Rangsit in Bangkok has many shops but no tourists. Tourists are certainly not the only people in Thailand buying weed.

No, because that shiit stinks badly. And the juristic office staff agrees with it that smoking weed on the balconies or in rooms "is very bad", to quote their words.
So then I assume that Condos would have notices stating that smoking on balconies did not include weed?
Weed vaporizers generate almost zero odour and would overcome the smell problem you describe if they were legally available in Thailand - which they are not. They are also far preferable to smoking for health purposes.

Ecstasy is a good stuff, even many investigators are taking it before interrogating the suspects.
Maybe this Brit was an interrogator?

I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but ecstasy is a nice drug as drugs go, certainly the most enjoyable of the pills available. At 1000 baht a pill, they were probably smuggled from Europe and likely to be very high quality. The details of the LSD sales are obviously totally wrong - 100 baht a trip sounds more reasonable, and this modern stuff is nowhere near as potent as the trips available in the 60's and 70's. I feel a bit sorry for the guy really. I used to buy the same stuff from an Aussie back in the 90s when I lived in Bangkok. The people who write these articles really need to fact check their articles and opinions, because a lot of what they report, including the dangers of the drugs, are just nonsense.

They should've banned that from the 1st Jan 2024, not the end of the years. Too many waankers smoking that shiit in the condo balconies in Pattaya in my building, and that shiit blows everywhere into my room and stinks up my room. Good thing though is the juristic office doesn't stand for that shiit and report those waankers and they get fined. Too many Air BnB type waankers think they can do whatever they want without respect to others in the building.
If smoking is already permitted on the balconies of the condos, surely weed would also be permissible?

Has less to to with manufacturer and more to do with how the battery is stored and used. Everyone turns over their devices preflight and they get stored in a fire proof bag sealed and not to be opened. Large batteries get banned completely. Problem solved.
Then after the flight, there's not only immigration and luggage to worry about, now you can add collecting your charger to that list.

Only takes one incident for anything in Thailand to cause a knee jerk ban across the board. Like how alcohol was banned from Thai trains.

Thai politics and the legal system are disheartening to everyone but the Thai people who allow one travesty of justice after another to pass unquestioned. If they don't care why should I, unless of course Thaksin's return to power accelerates the de-legalisation of weed and is backed up by another shoot to kill squad being assembled.

French national arrested for selling drugs to Koh Phangan tourists

Really? You ever had ecstasy or cocaine? More desirable than heroin or ice. Both drugs would certainly make a full moon party a lot more enjoyable. I am sure that the many foreigners who have bought from him are sorry that he has been caught.
