Phuket netizens slam half-naked foreign man on red baht bus
Spock replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
There is no suggestion that weed was involved. If these 'knob heads' are 'all over Pattaya and Phuket', I would suggest that alcohol and bars have far more to do with the knob headedness than weed. Or are you one of these anti-weed people who wants to support earlier Thai media assertions that weed is responsible for every strange or aggressive behaviour exhibited by Thais or tourists. -
Plane stupid! Australian man’s flight crash threat lands him in jail

What plastic sleeve? I just got a new Australian passport. At $400 each. there is no plastic sleeve in which to place it. -
Protests Threaten Return of Yingluck Shinawatra to Thailand
Spock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The coups have not ushered in policies like the rice storage and pledge scheme or the licence to kill drug marshals with over 3000 resultant deaths of small time dealers and users. In fact, the decriminalisation of marijuana and all the happy shops that opened would not have occurred without a military coup. But you're right in one sense. People seem far more accepting of a coup than the return of the Shinawatra family to political leadership. Thaksin's appeal was never to the city folk but to farmers keen on financial handouts and the medical scheme (which proved to be a success). -
Protests Threaten Return of Yingluck Shinawatra to Thailand

You don't believe the ridiculous storing of rice and the consequent rotting of it was not an act of gross incompetence? -
American on Dirt Bike Kills Thai Woman Crossing Road in Chiang Mai
Spock replied to Georgealbert's topic in Chiang Mai News
He is being charged with reckless driving causing death so there must be some element of dangerous driving associated with the accident. He probably just emulates Thai style driving which includes ignoring people on pedestrian crossing let alone those crossing elsewhere. -
Hotel Fire Near Khao San Road Leaves 3 Dead, Many Rescued From Roof

Sprinkler systems are meant to activate in response to a fire not in response to human intervention. -
Thai Taxi Driver Assaulted by Foreigner in Pattaya, Seeks Justice

Seriously?! You should get a job in Thai media helping the government close down the weed trade. -
Drunken drama: Russian hospitalised after Bangla brawl

Same story in Patong. Eyes light up and beer bottles become weapons when a farang is in the midst of a fracas. -
British mother’s tourist warning after drugs kill daughter in Thailand

The last execution in Thailand was 2018 and the one before that in 2009. The dealer who has not been identified or caught will not be executed. -

As indeed was I. I left the protest at Democracy Monument just prior to the massacre of civilians. Hea Suk, ork pai! -
NACC Launches Probe into Thaksin’s Alleged Hospital Fake-out

As an advocate for the green revolution to continue rather than a return to the shoot to kill marshals of Thaksin's PM era, I'd almost prefer another military coup to what's happening with the Thai government now. -
Foreign Tourist Stuns Onlookers by Strolling Naked Through Phuket Hotel
Spock replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
Let's face it, stricter visa laws would not have made a bit of difference. Next the man will be claimed to be heavily stoned on exotic flowers, another feather in the cap for the anti weed movement. -
Couldn't agree more. If residents farangs are not going to display some empathy for the dogs, who will? They don't have to necessarily take them in as house pets, but they can at least view them through more sympathetic and understanding eyes. To blame someone less callous than them for trying to help the dogs and temporarily 'failing' is disgusting. Certainly not someone I'd be seeking out to share a beer in the evening.

I hate the way Thais fawn over puppies then dump them or lock them outside their gate when they grow up. It's a very superficial liking for a particular kind of animal though shows no evidence of any true devotion or recognition of the dog having special traits beyond that of livestock. I get sick of all the blame and hate heaped on street dogs which are simple the direct result of the immature and heartless approach by Thais to raising then not raising domestic animals. Don't be like the Thais. Set an example. Teach the dogs and train them.

Scottish holidaymaker’s scooter disaster in Koh Pha Ngan
Spock replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
I was thinking travel insurance not Thai registration insurance. -
Scottish holidaymaker’s scooter disaster in Koh Pha Ngan
Spock replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Many insurance policies do cover motor scooter accidents - both driver and pillion need to be helmeted, the driver has to have an appropriate licence and no alcohol or drugs in the system. You can guarantee this guy met none of those conditions and making a video while driver would alone void any policy. I am just surprised he has got out of it so cheaply. -
Thai court delivers justice: Cyanide serial killer sentenced to death
Spock replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why would any policeman only get one year in Thailand? The rich and powerful don't do time behind bars in Thailand. However they can be dragged to a slow and painful death under an expensive sports' vehicle if the price is right and the crime committed by someone much richer than themselves. -
Thai court delivers justice: Cyanide serial killer sentenced to death
Spock replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What an awful piece of journalism - 'All three, bold enough to deny their charges and fight the accusations in court, were met with the unwavering arm of the law.' One year in jail for her high ranked policeman husband and out on 100000 baht jail is not my idea of being 'met with the unwavering arm of the law'. Two years for her lawyer (what sort of lawyer colludes with clients and helps cover their tracks?), also out on a mere 100000 baht bail. Seems they were dealt with lightly and what's to stop doing a Red Bull run. Hardly unwavering stuff.- 60 replies
