Some of the financially successful foreigners living in Thailand display their wealth by buying luxury condos or building large houses, driving expensive cars, wearing flashy designer clothing, and openly spending big in restaurants and nightlife spots.

These displays of affluence can particularly stand out in rural or less economically developed areas of the country, where local incomes are quite a lot lower and there isn't much of a local middle class.

I wonder how local Thai communities perceive foreigners who make their money visibly seen by others in Thailand. Are they admired for their success, spending and helping of the local economy, or do they spark jealousy, distaste and resentment among locals?

Seems to be a jealously written malevolent post.

So trying to sort out the border problems the (suspended) PM insults the military.

THe military run thr constitutional court which then suspends the PM amid a background of talk about a military coup. THis cycle of "fake" litigation and suspension of politicians is the Thai way of running a country - it is not democratic, it is at the will of the military and needs to be stopped so the country can get on with becoming a democracy.

Defamation suits seem to run deep in this country........surprised those type of unethical acts have not been removed or stopped. Continue forth Thailand and your belief you are more than a 3rd world country will never be anything more than that.....

I was on an OA Visa Marriage extension when I transitioned to an LTR -P Visa.   The LTR immigration office cancelled this OA visa and wrote a couple of lines in my passport with an immigration officer signature saying the OA visa had been cancelled due to issue of the LTR visa.  Then my LTR-P visa/Stay Permit was stamped into my passport.

Yea...don't expect to see something saying/stamped "cancelled"....it could be as simple as a few lines of handwritten Thai with a signature saying one visa was cancelled and replaced by another.

Exactly as what I experienced as one if the First LTR-P visas granted at BOI back in 2022. Notation was made on the immigration side across the hall from BOI in my passport.

The idea that they can easily put the genie back in the bottle is funny.  Weed is here to stay.  And IMO despite the reality that both weed and booze cause some "issues" neither should be outlawed IMO.

However, as guests in this country its not up to us as to what the powers to be decide to do. It's easy to put the genie back on the bottle....its called enforcing the laws regardless.

What's that got to do with police rounding up Cambodian, Burmese armed young men?

Exactly, they don't need to obtain Visas to enter Thailand most just cross border areas and go back and forth because of the ease and are rarely caught as they cross in areas not patrolled or better yet they pay off the patrols....

Ahh found the thread again forgive the late response.

When you admit that Ivermectin is a Nobel  prize winner that's

“safe and effective“ for humans as well as animals...

    I'll  reconsider the pedantry.

You just want to continue with your continual misinformation posts....knock yourself out.....covid deniers and false information run hand in hand....now run along little man, adults are in the room.

Kazuhiro Haraguchi, former Japanese Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, said that he had developed cancer from the covid vaccines he received, and has the evidence to prove it.

On Monday 19 May 2025, he tweeted the following:This is an analysis of my cancer cells. It was determined that the malignant lymphoma had metastasised to the tonsils, but the lesions were removed and sent to a research facility. Even two years after receiving the covid-19 vaccine, spike proteins were found in the malignant lymphoma. Conversely, N proteins were not detected. This indicates that I had not been infected with covid-19. We must put an end to the tragedies caused by the covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible. This data is planned to undergo further detailed analysis and will be used for a research paper.

I can claim I developed bigger gonads and a bigger stick because of the vaccines.....you'd probably believe that as well.

Any medication or processed food or atmospheric conditions from smog to dust particles from fukishima could be blamed as well......

Pick your battles, you do seem hung up on this one.....

Kudos to these heroes for battling an extremely corrupt, corrosive, toxic and nasty junta. May the Burmese Army be banished forever, never to resurface again, and may they be held accountable for their serial killing, and refusal to accept a democratic outcome. It is absolutely incumbent on the ASEAN neighbors, to isolate Burma and avoid supporting them in any manner.

My wife who is of Karen descent would like to go home for a visit but with the ethnic cleansing the Junta is doing it is keeping her from returning. Add in the fact she's afraid she would never be allowed to leave and return to Thailand.

Hilarious.....Avermectin was awarded not Ivermectin.....do you know the difference.........

    • Not Directly Awarded For Ivermectin Itself: While ivermectin is a derivative of avermectin and the ultimately impactful drug, the Nobel Prize was specifically for the discovery of avermectin and its potential, not for the specific development of ivermectin.

That's from your link.....you need to learn to read things completely.......lol
