Far to much a risk I guess in this LTR P. Not to mention that despite having the LTR one still has to do annual reports to immigration, who have managed to push in a fine back door to harass and demand again and again all kinds of updated absurd documentation on anyting they can come up with...who can really be sure ? Some are great of course, but we all know how some can make life hell for foreigners and retirees.
Surely there are far better options I guess for those who come over just for winter months in Thailand. This LTR is definately not what we may think as a hassle free visa valid 10 years (2x 5 yrs) and wrongfully assume there woule be no more dealings with those fine immigration bureaucrats, .
No issues, and no hassles at all. Your Income is also not taxable with an LTR-P visa. All above board and nothing hidden. In the grand scheme of things, if you travel back and forth living here half time or whatever, it's still cheaper than obtaining a Non "O" or "OA" visa over a ten year period. Easy to file the annual report as well, instead of doing 90 days, but if you travel in and out an annual report to immigration will never truly be needed. No extra fees either

The practice of face may be the single greatest weakness of Thai culture. It prevents growth, emotional development, and is the polar opposite of Buddhism, on multiple levels. It is a scourge.
To this I agree 100% and is why like I stated I do not believe corruption, which is endemic, will never dissappear.

His reputation as a crime fighter is hogwash, and just great PR on his part.
He is guilty by association. Anyone in that position has to be corrupt. The RTP is the greatest pyramid scheme in Thailand.
Where is he hiding the billions of baht?
Seems you have an axe to grind with all officials in Thailand. I agree corruption is endemic, but nothing we can do will ever solve it.

God also concluded their religion and then, well the rest is kinda history. 'God's chosen people', the Israelites and today's Jews are not the same in the eye of God. But I get where this is coming from, for Israel committing genocide against the Amalek is their 'God given' right.
Had they done as told, would we even be in the situation we are in today.

I love how people watering down the word 'antisemitic' by using it constantly wrong. The more it's done like that, the less meaning it has! My dog just barked while I was scrolling over the map of Israel,.. ANTISEMITIC! 🤣
The victim card is no longer working after the whole world is witness to the genocide the Jewish state is committing in Gaza and the constant provocations against Iran.
However,
The Seven Nations (Hebrew: שבעת העמים, romanized: Shivat Ha'amim) are seven nations that according to the Hebrew Bible lived in the Land of Canaan prior to the arrival of the Israelites.
God instructed the Israelites to destroy these seven nations upon entering Canaan.

I simply don't see Thai people as having the spirit required to do the hard policing it would take. It's not just burning it's all the usual problems, stray dogs, littering on vacant land, dangerous driving etc... These aren't people that are willing to have ugly confrontations and do what would needs to be done. I have zero confidence this will ever change unless the people themselves decide they want to stop.
Correct, as most don't like to be confrontational and just want everything to be easy. FACE has no place in Thailand anymore......but then that's my view

No. Trump started by refusing to give documents back. If he had just given back the documents when asked by NARA, there would likely have been no trial.
Yes,Trump did it to himself. Much like spoiled rich people or even season ticket holders do...Don't you know who I am?

Unfair rules do not incline people to follow it, unenforced laws neither (fortunately).
Not discriminatory in any way shape or form. If you believe it's discriminatory then you need to look at other visas which have requirements others do not. Case in point is the OA visa or extension of stay which requires a retiree to maintain health Insurance with a company from inside thailand, on a HI list, and show this proof annually, whereas a person on an O visa or extension of stay does not have to show this requirement. Many different classes of Visas and many different requirements such as showing 400k in the bank vs. 800k in the bank.
My view with people who yell discrimination is that they have an axe to grind because they don't qualify to obtain said visa.
The tax Exemption was a selling point for me as well as all the other add on, such as only reporting once a year, multi re-entry permit and not having to renew for 5 years to show I still qualified.

Your view of the LTR visa being canceled will never see the light of day. A BOI LTR visa was a well thought out plan as it included many facets which work well for those of us who qualify. The tax Exemption was just icing on the cake for us.
Do you have an LTR visa or are you just one of many who don't and have an axe to grind?

PIB's points are quite important. I am sure BoI will insist on an LTR visa holder's having met the requirements during all the time the visa has been valid.
Going to be hard to get the Health Insurance companies to write a document stating you've been insured for the past 5 years. Might need to keep the actual 5 years of policies to show proof. The pension income should not be a problem for most.

Dr. Anthony Fauci wrote in February 2020 that store-bought face masks would not be very effective at protecting against the COVID-19 pandemic and advised a traveler not to wear one.
Yet you state they don't work ie...not very effective by quoting Fauci. That is not what Fauci said or what other studies have stated. Use an N95 mask and you'll be fine.

Social media posts are misrepresenting what Fauci said about masks and COVID-19 and omitting part of his response. The nation’s former top infectious disease expert said mask initiatives may have a small impact at the community level, but in the following sentence he said he believes a properly worn, high-quality mask can be effective protection for an individual.

Why do you believe masks don't work? Can you provide a verifiable study that's been placed into the medical journals for us. Anti-masker you must be....

LTR visa also advertizes as a benefit, "fast track service at international airports of Thailand". The Thai board of investment is the sponsor.
I just changed from retiement to the LTR, and plan on using the non-existent fast track service if I go through a Thai international airport.
Used it many times with my trips so far since October of 2022 when I received my LTR visa. Take the wife who is from Myanmar through with me as well.
