Have you been there? Have you seen it happen? How do you come to the "murder" conclusion when the judge comes to the accident conclusion? How comes you only mention the 18 pounds but not the 2-year suspended jail sentence attached? Did you ever bother to look at your own countries laws (as I did above) and compared what you would get for an accicent with manslaughter (assuming not being drunk or driving to fast) back in your home country?

To answer you question the age of consent in Thailand is 15 ( in certain prefectures in Japan its 13) however in 1997 when USA and others bailed out Asia during financcial crisis they made them adopt law that says PAYMENT for sex with a person under 18 would be deemed a criminal offense under international law. The US can prosecute any US citizen whoi engages in underage sex even if its legal in the country the act is commited in.

I am curios, why foreigners care about rain?

I was planning to go hiking in the very area the storm came through. Always best to check the weather

It's legal to have a 17-year-old girlfriend. It's against the law to patronize a 17-year-old prostitute. The law applies to locals, as a Thai Senator found out many years ago. In his case, though, the girls were 14, so I guess there was more outrage.

If there is a law, it MUST be applied in all cases... if there are many cases when it should be skipped, that means law is not perfect and must be updated/replaced. For example: in Czech Republic it's allowed to have sex from 15th but from the permission of parents.

I understand that new generation is very progressive and they start live much earlier but IMHO it should be forbidden and punished (as they do not understand the responsibility behind making babes).
