  1. Surely you jest Steven. He would be absolutely livid knowing these photos made it to the international newspapers
How do you think he felt when he read this insultive headline in Reuters
Thai activists in Pinocchio masks call junta leader 'liar'

Do you imagine he laughed along with the rest of the world. I don't think so. The word is now out around the diplomatic circles that Prayut is regarded by his people as a liar. There is sure to be some sniggering behind ambassadorial hands. But one thing you can be sure; nothing can ever dent his enormous ego.

Nor can anything dent s100s abberent admiration for the good General.

  2.

Since it went right by you without comment, it seems you are totally ok with poor people getting a free pass to kill endangered animals. I have never in my life seen the forestry department do such a good job nailing a guy to the wall as they are doing right now. But it is all too obvious it is because he is rich rather than because they want to stop poaching. They've already gone so far as to say the poor are the big poachers in Thailand which is no surprise at all, but it is absolutely ludicrous that in the same breath they excuse the behavior of the poor to pillage the forests by saying they are hungry. Poaching is wrong and should not be tolerated by anyone, not just the rich.

Poor people got 15 years in jail for poaching mushrooms. You really think this guy will spend a single night in a cell?

  3. It was believed from the beginning it wasn't his voice. But why is this grounds to drop charges? Why does no one care that the other 3 are equally guilty and one of them should be charged with bribery? The media, forestry people, and public seem to care less about saving the leopards. It's all about lynching the rich guy and ignoring the other 3 poachers. Why aren't they searching the houses of the other three? This is so strange. The repeated message from the handling of this case is if you are rich, we will throw the book at you. If you are poor, take what you want.

Yes, these hisos are such a persecuted class, and don't have a chance in the justice system...

  5. go to Thailand for sex tour =  another foreigner's untrue lie and perpetated by ministers of countries to make Thailand look bad.
there are too many ignorant non-thais that talk on Thailand not knowing nothing (cause it's too hard for them to know?) - yet fastly commenting on 2500 yrs of culture and what's behind it.
prostitution is illegal in Thailand, and officially not seen, unless police have problem with businessman.  $6.4B sex work generated money not even 10% of Thailand's GDP and no more than 650% of all Gambia GDP.  and if all 2M Gambians go to Thailand and become sex workers, still need 800,000 more Gambians to replace all Thai sex workers.   minister of Gambia does not know nothing.

I read this 3 times and still have no idea what your point is. Are you for or against this article?

  6. Can't they follow where her cellphone logs in?
Or check her kids' cellphone and see which foreign numbers call every day? Or do that on their internetconnection or emailbox......

That would be a Thailand 4.0 solution. The RTP have not even reached level 1.0, and the best they could come up with is to send a letter!!!

It's as if they don't even want to succeed...

Facts such as corruption has increased since the coup, elections have been promised "next year" every year since the coup, freedom of speech, press and association are still banned, the protests were dying of apathy when the military staged a coup to prevent an election....

Are those the kind of facts you are referring to?

Don't forget promising to end populist policies, and then pushing through the incredibility wasteful 100bn bht Thai Niyom populist campaign, just as the junta's popularity hits an all time low.

  8. I think the military has served the people well,as interim government. They've been up against the systemic corrupt bureaucracy that's been the nemesis of this countries potential(that's including their own corruption). Yes, they've only scratched the surface, but have demonstrated that the resolution of rehabilitating their systems will take decades.  Stacking the Senate is a good move as the average Thai is not sophisticated enough, not to be fooled to vote for one who promises the shiniest object. Hopefully it will be a deterrent when illogical programs like the "rice deal", and incompetent leaders like Yingluk endorse policies that make a select few (ThaiChai) richer at the price of future Thai generations.Imo
IMO, Prayut never wanted to be leader, but at his age realized he was called upon by fate. He had two choices. Make a difference or cash in......I believe he chose the former.          Of course people are maneuvered as pawns to protest by those who miss having their hand in the bank....I just hope that the new constitution will have enough checks n balances to protect the Thai people.

You mean shiny things like the 100 billion bht Thai Niyom scheme that the junta just pushed through? Yes, lucky that illogical populist schemes by incompetent leaders have been stopped...
