are the nayers are out as usual with all their bs comments ... lol ..

Khun Prayut has increased economic development in Thailand.

Thailand’s growth last quarter was supported by a 4.3 percent jump in manufacturing, a 6.7 percent expansion in hotels and restaurants, and an 8.1 percent increase in the transport and storage industries. Private consumption growth remained at 3.1 percent compared with 3 percent expansion in the second quarter, while investment rose 1.2 percent.

Tourism has been boosted with an expected increase in Chinese travelers. The Thai government has gained momentum in popularity since recent data was released.

It appears that 2018 will be even better than last year with many projects being implemented country wideImage result for pics of Khun Prayut

You forgot the most important stat - it is expected that Prawit's watch collection will increase by 33.3% in 2018, and his personal wealth to increase for the 7th year in a row. And this is just the tip of the iceberg for the "unusual"  wealth accumulated by top junta figures.

Let me rephrase your last statement to make it more realistic:

It appears that 2018 will be even better than last year for the Generals, with massive "commissions" being collected on the many projects being implemented country wide

We are all waiting for your comments on the many threads outlining the junta's corruption.

oh ......     where are the shins now ?   didn't they help themselves to a life of luxury obscondering billions of baht from Thailand.  ?

Nice deflection. Are you also infatuated with soviet propaganda as well as junta generals with shiny buttons (and watches)?

Whataboutism (also known as whataboutery) is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument,[1][2][3] which is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.[4][5][6] When criticisms were leveled at the Soviet Union, the Soviet response would be "What about..." followed by an event in the Western world.[7][8][9]

If this government is inflicting massive economic harm on Thailand I would have thought that the THB would be in the same position as the Zimbabwe dollar was in and the Venezuelan bolivar is in now. It seems however that the THB is holding its own and increasing in value against most currencies. From what I read in the "other" English language paper countries and individuals are investing in Thai government bonds etc and there is an inflow of foreign currency to the SET.

It seems as though foreigners are investing in Thailand and the foreign currency reserves are the highest they have ever been, even under Thaksins many governments.

Not too bad for a country under a military government.

I haven't heard you shouting about the loss of human rights in the neighbouring countries such as Myanmar, Malaysia or Cambodia where there is a far greater loss of human rights and where in Myanmar the government/army have been killing hundreds of Rohingya and expelling them from the country.

The harm has already been done with the economic losses over the last 3 years.

An Economist article in 2014 predicted that the cost of the coup would be 20 to 30 billion dollars due to lost GDP growth. This has occurred, and only this year has GDP growth returned to 2013 levels. This loaa is much higher than any estimate of losses from the rice scheme.

"The costs to Thailand’s economy are still piling up. Compared with trend economic growth the cost will be perhaps $20 billion to $30 billion from 2014 to 2016,"

    https://www.economist.com/blogs/banyan/2014/10/thailands-economy

Foreign direct investment was trending up until 2013 and trending down since the coup:

And since this is a Thaivisa site, it is not the forum to discuss human rights violations in other countries. That is a classic deflection and not really relevant to the discussion on THai government human rights violations.

  4. Well, if the Junta is so reluctant to see free and fair elections happening, maybe it's because Thai people don't see the many positive changes you are seeing?

Maybe all the Thais have not seen the cleared footpath in front of his house? If they did, they would surely forget about the massive economic harm and loss of human rights that have resulted from the coup and junta government.

We are not talking about the other world here, for Thailand that a lot, compared before never anything like this happened!  What exactly
changed which was 'better' before? Or you just trolling too?

There were very big promises made for reforms and only small superficial changes done only for the purpose of fooling the naive. Can a coup be justified because footpaths were cleared?

You're bit unfair or you don t know how it was 10 and 5 years before. For now you can see there are changes, good changes, less motorbikes on the footpath, do you remember how it was before?  At Silom full of stalls, there was no place to walk, wonderful now. The laws a more enforced as it was before. Do you really think someone other make it different or better? I think not. It is good as it is now. I can live with that.

Can you give some details about the incompetence you talking about or you just trolling?

          Cheers

Mussolini made the trains run on time, and Prayut cleared the footpaths.

You really have a low bar for being satisfied. The rest of the world expects a little bit more from their government.

You could just call her a woman. Whether she was a prostitute or not is irrelevant to the fact that she was either murdered or involved in a tragic accident.

Her profession was relevant part of the sequence of events. It should not be used in an insulting manner, but the story would not really make sense without reporting that relevant fact.

  8. Thailand is much better now for most people than before he came to power. The beaches have been reclaimed, as have encroached parks. Massive corruption everywhere has been exposed. The economy is doing much better, exports are up. Tourism is booming and is much safer without the crowds of thugs protesting and roaming the streets. Prayuth might not be as popular as he was originally but it might just have enough support to win an election.

I guess I'm living in an alternate dimension because none of the above has happened in the Thailand that I live in.

  9. Untrue.
Prayut simply invokes Article 44 to allow him to resign no later that 90 days prior to the election date. He will meanwhile remain as "caretaker" PM and Chief of NCPO.
Then Prayut requests the NLA pass the "The Good Politician Act" which parallels restrictions on freedom of expression similar to the Referendum Act such as no public debate, no live campaign broadcasts, no criticism of any competing politicians in any medium, no political rallies including nonparty members, etc.
Meanwhile Prayut will use his office to educate the public on his government's accomplishments and future plans, in accordance with the 20-year plan of course memorialized in the Charter.

And you forgot will use army personnel to go door to door to "urge" citizens to make the right choice, as was done in the farcical referendum.

  10. I support a government that provides peace and stability as well as economic development. As I have mentioned one hundred times and has been proven over & over democracy doesn't work in Thailand.   Democracy is not something that has to be ... it's not a must have ...  I recently read an article from the Australian newspaper where it was commenting on how democracy had failed us ( the australian people )  it may have been regarding the mess with MP's having dual citizenship,  I just forget ... but my point being that how has democracy helped the average joe  ???  ok, so he can vote !! big deal ...  just vote some arse hole in who won't create jobs, help the poor, does nothing about high cost of living and many other things.
As I said,  I support peace and stability, and Thailand has that as it stands which without someone wheeling the stick fighting starts and it goes back to the problems as before.

Careful, sounds like a bit of winging. Looks like you are the typical guy disenchanted with his home country, probably not so successful there, and compensating by embracing a junta regime.

Chai yo…as it is written...there are not enough hours in the day, to sing praises to the astounding and limitless accomplishments of the ‘people’s uncle’.

He is truly the incarnation of all that is pure, noble and holy and the world trembles in awe before his unrivaled magnificence. The man’s brilliance knows no bounds and such sublime perfection has surely never before walked the earth in human form. We are surely blessed by the opportunity to live, even for a moment, in the divine light of his sacred benevolence.

But your words of wisdom are wasted on the heathens, infidels, and naysayers. They will never renounce their evil sacrilege, repent their sordid apostasy, nor accept the holy truth. As wicked blasphemers they will forever be denied a place in Thailand’s brilliant future of limitless joy and everlasting happiness.

I also heard that Prayut got 18 holes in one the first time he played golf!
