  1. http://www.euro-design-furniture.com/

Euro-Design-Furniture, run by Swiss. They have brand new show rooms next to Mc'Donalds bangkok-bound, before Pattaya Klang (also In Hua-Hin & Phuket). Been in business for almost 20 years. They have their own, large and top modern factory just outside Pattaya and are by far the best choice for ready made and custom-built projects. I have done several large condos and houses with them and been very pleased and happy. They also provide professional after-sales & repair service. Ask for MR. Luc (German, French, English & Thai), the owner. :jap:

  2. I'd check out what they have at Numchai on Sukhumvit, east side between Pattaya Nua and Pattaya Klang.

Also on the east side of Duck Square, facing Big C. Is a smaller electronics shop, that sell mid to high end home theatre equipment.

Can't remember the name, as it's been a while since I've been in the shop. But if it's still around you can't miss it.

Mahajak (spelling?) use to be in Duck Square. I think they are now in their new building on Suk. Maybe somebody can confirm that?

Numchai is a good place to look for sure. But 5-7k Baht is not going to buy a very nice system.

Yes, they are on Sukh. Bangkok bound just before Big C. Went there yesterday 13.00 prepared to buy either their high end Denon/JBL setup or any alternative they could offer.

We ended up leaving after 15 minutes. They have almost nothing setup to let you listen to their systems. Choice messy and limited. None of the sales staff, eating...eating..eating...in the room next door, made a move to come and help or ask what we wanted, but a 0 brain "security guard/" who actually started up a couple of units and kept repeating: "Vely good, plomotion, vely good, plomotion".

Very disapointed. Ended up in Power Buy* where there one friendly sales-guy with good E and some knowledge. TIT.

  3. Hmmm....are you looking for something other than the replies in your previous thread? Piyanas, as mentioned in that thread as well as Maharajak on Suk are your best bets...otherwise, you might have to head to Bangkok.

Thank you very much. I have looked around and could not find anything ideal yet. I was hoping for somebody giving me a specific model. Thanks again for this great place to find solutions for almost everything. I am aware, this is great work by the moderators. Erre

  4. I need help of some experts. I presently run a Sharp Front surround system, which is not bad at all, especially movies, but I also listen to music a lot and it just does not sound good enough.

I have a living room which is about 55sqm, the symmetric and structure not suitable (or very complicated) for a 5.1 system and I would like to buy a system with just a couple of large front speakers and subwoofer, which h allows me to play quality, powerful sound, but also movies via my Plasma.

Is there anything available for around 50K.? Thanks for any feedback, as I I don't have much ideas about this.

    Thank you. ERRE

  5. It all depend s what insurance and what kind of coverage you have. Most insurances have a clause they need to be informed and approve surgery and certain treatments ahead of time, except in emergencies. They usually give exact time frames. Some insurances discount their benefits by 50% if not pre-informed. It really pays to do a complete read-up of all the small print before signing any insurance. There is many out there, which limit cancer treatment, don't include HIV, or only if tested etc. etc.

I would play hardball with the hospital as a first measure and try to let them correct their "mistake". I am aware of several similar cases in a prominent Pattaya hospital, with insurance and hospital blaming each-other for all kinds of shortcomings and mistakes.

All these private hospitals are flexible in financial respects to a point, even give major discounts if the patient is inquiring in time and they don't want anymore negative publicity on the Internet. Good luck and get better soon. Erre :jap:

  6. ^ erre191, You seem to have a good grasp of what needs to be done.

There is no reason that the Thai lawyer should need to be privy to the value of an estate.

Several years ago I was the executioner/administrator to my friends’ estate. I paid ฿50,000 for the Thai lawyer as the fee. Once the court had provided Grant of Probate I took this to the banks and closed the accounts myself and received cheques. The vehicles were transferred to the beneficiaries. The house deed and condo deeds were transferred. The only extra costs involved were bringing the company accounts up to date and a small tax bill. Then dissolution of the company took place.

This probate had multiple beneficiaries, a house several condos, multiple banks, vehicles and a comapny.

The lawyer that wrote the Will does not need to be the lawyer acting in probate.

Thank you Chopper for this competent and complete description! Erre :jap:

  7. Just another farang-clown and one of many, many similar stories. I am pleased, after 15 years in Pattaya, to still be of sound? mind and not a part of the di..-controlled circus team. They all get what they deserve and sometimes a bit more. It does not pay as an outsider to get involved and I have seen many friendships suffering, if one was to point out the reality to a Pattaya clown. :jap:

  8. He's talking about getting someone to be executor -- not to write up the document.

Exactly, thank you. I think this is a subject that might be of interest to many of us. I became aware of this, as I have been warned by several foreigners that they had been charged up to 20% of the estate value by Thai lawyers and/or so called consulting and law firms for reasonably simple administrations of a will: 1 visit to the court to get the executor confirmed by the judge, then 1 visit to the land office to get a couple of condos transferred, 2 visits to the manager of your local bank to get 2 accounts transferred to the sole heir.

20% of 12 Mio >>>> 2.4 Mio in legal fees. In a couple of cases foreign intermediary (Thai Company) in the middle. Defintely, never name anybody in official capacity (i.e. lawyers,(foreign) consulatants etc.) to be your executor. Your (sole) heir can be named and if he needs any help or support with the will, then hire a "pro" by the hour. Over to you guys. Still hoping for some real life experiences. :jap:

  9. Nikko you obviously have some ulterior motive, are yoiu selling condo's some where else or just someone who takes photos of the worst case scenarios and posts a load of rubbish to support it.

There is no sewerage goes into the water in or near Pattaya coast, do you really believe that, if you do your dafter than you sound, there is a bit of a problem with a small area near the beer gardens on beach road where a lot of drainage water enters and bags and bottles washed into the storm drains come out there.

Your posts in the main are rubbish, I was in Jomtien watching the beach cleaners as they do every day raking up what the tide brings in, no big deal, same as Pattaya beach they pick up most of the rubbish and a bit comes over on the tide from Koh larne Island, I mean your not going to drink the \water are you, its perfectly ok to swim in.

    post-101635-0-99462000-1308282651_thumb.

You ever been to the beach?? You must be dreaming. Off course it is not the same every day, but it is getting worse every year and some periods are absolutely disgusting. And.... I am on the beach every day of the year and have just lately stopped swimming on really bad days, as I started getting some very itchy skin rashes every evening after swimming. The original post is 100% correct and it is time somebody wakes up and starts acting on the environment. :jap:

  10. Good day

Does anybody know what the average, reasonable, to be expected cost for the executor/administrator (Thai lawyer, not private individual) of a Will is. The duties include: Transfer of 1 condo, transfer of 2 Thai bank accounts, transfer of 1 foreign bank-account to 1 sole heir, Thai national. Total assets incl. condo value around: 8 Mio Baht.

What do I have to expect to pay? Is it a fixed amount? A percentage? Is it based on value or on actual work involved, which would not be much. Thank you for any advise. Erre :jap:

  11. Yesterday, at the Pullman Beach Club (Wongamat) having drinks at sunset. Everyone was commenting about the rubbish that was floating about in the sea and being washed onto the shore. It is SAD sight. Plastics, pipes, bags, bottles...some people who ventured into water ended up running out in a hurry due to EXCESSIVE rubbish, literally large pieces hitting swimmers.

There is no point saying 'if you don't like it, leave" because it affects all of us living here, even if we are not beach goers; nobody wants to live close to sea that is in danger of becoming a festering, putrid, eyesore. There is also no point saying that "Pattaya is not known for its clean beaches" because that is not entirely true as can be seen from the many many people who do go to the beach on weekends and high season.

There is a chap named KOTO who does try to do something by education and spreading awareness of the issue....he may be hitting a brickwall but at least he tries. Hopefully more people like him organise and act. Or else, the Pattaya authorities need to be publicly embarrassed with pics/photos, forums like thaivisa and by spreading the word on the internet. Then perhaps the voters will act accordingly when the consequences of the degraded sea hits the hip pocket.

Well said!!! :jap: But nothing will change for the better....

  12. Hi folks

I have been swimming on the Pratumnak end of the beach daily for the last 7 years. The water quality has been getting worse and worse, not even mentioning the dangerous pieces of deliberately broken glass (under water) and the seasonal stingers.

A situation/story that I have heard several times from friends and I have always laughed off, "swimming in shit", became reality last week.

I did my daily laps about 150 yards off the beach, where usually there water starts to clear up somewhat. I was gagging, finding myself all of a sudden in the middle of larger and smaller pieces of shit turds in a quite large area. I succeeded to dive and get away towards the beach and immediately leave the water and now believe this story.

I doubt I will ever go to swim again in these waters.

A visit to several islands incl. Koh Chang and some smaller islands towards Cambodia in the area a few weeks back, were equally shocking. Corals almost totally destroyed, even remote beaches full of rubbish of any kind. Disgusting! What a shame. Lots of disappointed tourists, who never will come back, too. There is no way Thailand will improve the image to receive better quality tourists.

  13. One of the best places I have found in very good location: diana-oasis.com, fits your needs 100%.

Check their recommendation for Dental Art on their website and let Kh. Meow, their lady-manager make the appointment for you. She is fantastic and will hook you up with the owner of the modern little clinic. I have used this young doctor ( Dr. Chanya) myself. He is great, very careful (painless) and your bill is going to be much lower than going to any big place, like BPH.

Diana-Oasis is just a few steps away from Dental Art Clinic and the perfect place to relax on one of the pools. Mention John L. when inquiring with Meow and she will take extra care of you, they are very nice people there. Good luck with your treatment. JL. jap.gif

I second both of these, getting 5 crowns done with Dr. Chanya right now and perfectly happy. Oasis is a nice place to stay (and a couple of minutes from dental art), I go there for breakfast and dinner often in their garden restaurant and surf with my ipad. Phyatai is ok. but up to 50 min. trip one way, out of the question for me for extensive dental works. All the best with your dental works.

  14. Much has been written about hospitals in the Pattaya region. With extensive experience with all hospitals, it is clearly the Phyathai hospital who has my trust. A major asset of this hospital is Gavin Waddell, the Marketing Executive. He is fast, fair and reliable. None of the well known tactics of some of the places here in Pattaya. Calls get returned immedietaly, quotations are fast (and well below Pattaya prices), medical staff is much more caring and does not only see $ signs when they treat a foreigner. Thanks. M.

  15. Precooked chicken and raw chicken or grilled are three different products.

Precooked chicken is cooked before it gets to the store. cooked over 72 degrees. when you buy it you, it usually frozen or vac.

Raw chicken is raw. What can make it to smell bad, could be that you take the chicken with your hands that has bacteria.

Grilled chicken you buy at the store that the smell may be, it is not your fried good enough. or it may be old.

Raw chicken, if it takes a long time before you come home from the store can be enough reason to keep it up badly.

or you have something else in the fridge that smells bad,

Thailand is number one in the world when we talk about hygiene in the manufacturing sector,

you gotta a be kidding...thailand # 1 in manufacturing/hygiene.....i suggest you go look at any of their shrimp farms or for that, chicken factories, which are dominated and controlled by 2 companies allover thailand. then i suggest you sit outside the back-door of the big supermarkets for a few days and watch deliveries of food....you will change your mind about any kind of hygiene quickly.

  16. Many people here getting by on 20'000 / mth. These are usually not the happiest looking ones. Plenty written about Pattaya Cheap Charlies, just google it or watch once you get here..

Many others spending much, much more...For a good lifestyle with nice condo, good food, restaurants, entertainment, health insurance, bike and/or car etc. etc. you will probably spend 80-100'000, but I have friends who spend a min. of 200'000 every month, which is not all that much in real money and really gives them a good lifestyle with private driver, maid, parties and more.
