So how is it a 'largely inaccurate report', apart from the Police quote?
If you read it properly it says largely accurate!

They should be making Thailand a safe place to come where tourists don't feel threatened and can go where they want!

If borders are closed apart from repatriation flights how did a Thai man manage to fly to Japan?

"a sharp decline of 75 per cent from around Bt3 trillion last year. "

The worst possible predication is 75% less(tourism revenue) than usual?
It is a kind of amazing to me.
No new international arrivals both by land and air for indefinite period.
No new check-ins at any levels of accommodations.
No demands for the local tours & tourist-oriented retailers.
Where does the rest of the 25% come from?
Does that 25% come from the spending by the Thai local domestic travelers, foreign retirees, and the detained-tourists unable to leave Thailand due to airline flight suspension?
In such a circumstance, 25% retainer looks quite sizable.
Don't want foreigners in their restaurant even though they've been here all through the crisis!!! They really do beggar belief!

Totally disagree with you.
Foreign tourism is necessary to boost the economy. What's tthe point if most of the money is going elsewhere?
Chinese come and go to places Chinese own! The money made goes straight back to China Thailand hardly get a bean!

What the <deleted> that got to do with allowing foreign visitors in?
Internally there have been no new cases reported for over 50 days so therefore there should be a very low risk of anyone spreading the virus! So as long as they don't let international tourism there shouldn't in theory be a problem.

So you have proof that monkeys are beaten and chained up? Maybe have a leash? Sheep dogs are usually caged or put in a pen of some sort! When not working! But same principles the dog is worked to round up sheep the monkeys to collect coconuts!

If I was a big spender with a private plane I don't think Thailand would be high on my list of places to visit!

That's the real difference, bellowing out clouds of virus. Of course, Thailand is squeeky clean, nothing to see here, move along, so no matter.
So is that any different to restaurants who's customers bellow out clouds of virus?

If there have been no new cases throughout the kingdom in the last 28 or so days apart from those entering the country, how is there any chance of a second wave? Just don't open borders too eagerly and see how domestic travel fares first!

I wish t here were some tough laws for this to protect buyers. I don't mean it has to applied to foreigners only but to everyone giving better protection to buyers.
But I think it would be hard as the people doing such things are usually rich or have al ot of cash from cheating their clients enough to bribe a lot of people.
Bit of a stupid comment! All crooks are as bad as each other Brit, Thai, American what ever nationality!

Get wealthy tourists to thailand, ok then :
- Make clean beaches, streets, sewage systems that work, no floodings, get rid of air pollution, soi dogs, crazy dangerous traffic, overhead cables, make food safe, supply service on a western level, have flexibility for guests in hotels, increase english knowledge, have sidewalks bigger than 40cm, have clean public parks, boulevards without traffic, classy nightlife, quality all in hotels, and have a street appearance on 1st world level not somewhere between 2nd and 3rd. Put sex industry out of sight and then maybe MAYBE some high class tourists might come.
I live here so for me the reasons to be here are entirely different than for a tourist. If i was an upper class tourist , thailand would not be in my list of goto desitnations.
Exactly!

Thailand Seeks Safe Way of Reopening Borders to Boost Economy

Thailand don't seem to grasp that tourists aren't going to want to wear GPS tracking devices or have to quarantine when coming on holiday plus the economy in other countries is just as bad so many won't be able to afford holidays!
