Noooooooooooo, surely the government is wrong here, they must impose at least 5 years more of the 'new normal' no bars, no alcohol in restaurants, no sitting on the same table as your family, social distancing, no gatherings over 1, in fact, to show the government is in control, it is essential that the normal population must have no enjoyment whatsoever............

If there's no alcohol allowed in restaurants why is the Chinese restaurant next to me serving it every night!!!! Are the Chinese exempt and above the law in Chiang Mai?

So that one new case resets Thailand's clock back to zero already, and yet the head honcho still seems to want zero new cases for 28 consecutive days before he will consider reopening thr beaches and swimming pools, never mind letting tourism get started again. It's going to be a long hot season, folks!

That one new case was in Chiang Mai where there had been no new cases in approximately 26 days!

At first when this all begun I was gutted I was back in UK visiting family. Now I’m glad, I do not believe one utterance about this pandemic from Prayut, he’s  just a PRC mouth piece . I’m at the least sure the UK is not chatting bull about deaths, infections etc.  Stay safe everyone ????

Believe me when I say the UK are bull<deleted>ing you about numbers!!!

I wish somebody would explain to me the logic behind the curfew in terms of COVID-19, what purpose does the curfew achieve in useful COVID control, other than reducing the opening hours of businesses that are normally open for 24 hours and therefore making these shops etc. busier during the shortened opening hours.

The only advantage I see it is that it possibly helps to reduce the criminal element.

Poppycock, there is absolutely no logical reasoning behind your statement.

Sunday saw masses of people rushing to buy alcohol, a minute percentage of those would have been alcoholics, the overwhelming majority did this purely because they do not trust the government to allow sales to continue and wanted to stock up, had there been no ban in the first place, then that situation would not have arisen. All this BS that no alcohol stops socialising, the locals continue to do this with or without booze, all they need is food and that will not stop regardless of what laws are put in place.

    Totally agree

Good news, Thailand. Now let's hope there's no spike in new cases over the next couple of weeks as a result of the lifting of restrictions. If new cases stay in single figures until the end of the month then they should be able to loosen things further, maybe open the beaches and pools. Bars are a more difficult problem, sadly, I miss my daily BS session with my mates.

There's no problems opening the bars there's hardly anyone to go in them!!! Where I am in Chiang Mai there were very few in the bars before they were made to close!

it's not going to happen, Prayut asked for help from the Leo/Chang/Singha and other super riches and they played unconcerned (dumb) & deaf as a post,  now that's his (Prayut)  turn, pay back time

The government are cutting off their nose to spite their face! They are the ones going to be losing millions in revenue by extending the ban! It's only bloody mindedness on their part!!!
