  1. There will be no problem to find the this last person. If the to burmanece did it. They know who he is smile.png

But will they tell who it is if their families have been threatened by this third party and/or his associates? I guess we will wait and see...

You really think some Thai connected person was hanging out on the beach singing Arkanese songs with a couple of Burmese itinerants?

You have to let it go; everybody wants to blame some rich Thai kid but it ain't gonna happen. The police have got their man.

    Weren't they singing Kumbayah?

  2. Their lawyer Aung Myo Thant said the case was a "set-up and not based on hard facts", according to the Democratic Voice of Burma, an independent Myanmar news organisation based in Norway.

"From what we have learned, there are inconsistencies with both the forensic report and evidence provided in the case," he was quoted as saying.

    ABC Australia Posted

8 Oct 2014, 12:40am (7 Oct 8:40pm local time) Thailand police chief says officials have carried out 'perfect' investigation of murdered British tourists

Thailand's police chief has defended the arrest of two Myanmar men for the murder of two British tourists amid concern the pair may have admitted to the murders under duress.

The bodies of Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were found on September 15 with severe head wounds near where they were staying on the southern island of Koh Tao.

Police were widely accused of bungling the investigation and pressure grew for them to solve it quickly.

Last week, police said two Myanmar workers had admitted to killing the tourists and that DNA found on Ms Witheridge matched samples taken from the two men.

"I insist that all officials in this case have done a good job. A perfect job," national police chief General Somyot Poompanmuang told a news conference in Bangkok.

The suspects, who have been identified only as Saw Rim and Win, both 21, have been charged with the murder of both Britons and the rape of Ms Witheridge.

If found guilty, they could face the death penalty.

Police have stressed the importance of their DNA evidence.

"DNA found on the deceased's body matches the suspects," lead investigator Suwat Chaengyodsuk said.

"This is something that cannot be denied."

Police said a mobile phone belonging to Mr Miller was also found on Saw. A third Myanmar migrant worker is in police custody but has not been charged.

    Police dismiss abuse allegations

Some rights groups have voiced concern over accusations of abuse during the investigation.

"A number of serious allegations of physical abuse against Myanmar workers as part of the questioning process in this murder case have been raised to us," Andy Hall, a Thailand-based rights researcher, said.

"The accusations do not concern the two or three persons currently detained for the murder.

"We do not have enough evidence or information at this stage to comment on how or if the two accused have been scapegoated for this crime or not."

Migrant workers often face discrimination in Thailand and have been used as scapegoats for crimes before. But police denied using force during their interrogation.

"I confirm that there was no abuse of any of the suspects," Mr Suwat said.

The case will be forwarded to a court on October 14.

The tourist industry accounts for 10 per cent of Thailand's economy and has yet to recover from a slump in visitors during months of protests on the streets of Bangkok that preceded a military coup in May.

  3. Complete nonsense how can they track you down? Bully tactics. Freedom of speech, now you can't critize the police. Pm Prayuth what has happened to Thailand?

Well, obviously they will not try to run after every single person sharing links on Facebook or similar, that would be ridiculous, impossible and a huge lose of face for the BiB. But the people behind CSI LA might be swimming in hot water..

RTP are seriously worried about the postings on CSI LA. latest posting there, 34 mins ago, shows that the alleged murderers where DNA tested in the initial round. So why s long to get THEIR results....? After that round of testing, they police still hadn't had a match. Either way, CSI LA is based outside of Thailand.

And how would you know they are based out of Thailand - a bit of evidence would help!

  4. I am referring to the date stamped Thai security cameras of the rich Thai kid that was taking an exam at university the day of the murders.

You may wish to look into the credibility of the evidence that you are highlighting - and not just drink the crap they are putting out?

Do you really think two migrant workers with nothing, who were in a foreign country where they didn't have proper command over the language would commit this terrible crime for apparently no reason, you know, just ruin everything that one night....just because?

I think as has been mentioned a gazillion times, the actual wounds on the victims are so terrible and so strongly suggest that this was not a random act of violence - this had something far more substantial that motivated the killers....motivation I simply don't believe the 2 migrant workers have been claimed to have had.

Other serious concerns John, before you go off believing all the 'evidence'.

    1. The crime scene was seriously contaminated from the beginning

    2. Certain people were allowed to refuse DNA testing, others were not

    3. Like it or not, the island is run by 5 families and they say what goes

    4. There would be no chance for these Myanmar men to get a fair trial in the US/UK etc due to certain official's comments and the rest

    5. Quite clearly someone was very very very angry with the David and Hannah, and had means to do something about it

I hope the truth comes out to provide closure for the families - scapegoats don't provide closure.

I'm sorry, although I don't THINK (meaning personal feeling) the Burmese committed these horrendous crimes, BUT what you are postings had no basis.

    A. "Do you really think two migrant workers with nothing, who were in a foreign country where they didn't have proper command over the language would commit this terrible crime for apparently no reason, you know, just ruin everything that one night....just because?"

Ummm... we don't know, we weren't there, we are not them. Nobody, except the killer(s), knows why they did it.

    1. "The crime scene was seriously contaminated from the beginning"

Fair and valid point, but it depends what evidence they are using from the crime scene.

2."Certain people were allowed to refuse DNA testing, others were not"

It's not a crime to refuse a DNA test - I wouldn't give one the RTP, would you trust them with a sample of your DNA?

    3. "Like it or not, the island is run by 5 families and they say what goes"

All of Thailand is run by corrupt people, from the top down to the local BIB.

4."There would be no chance for these Myanmar men to get a fair trial in the US/UK etc due to certain official's comments and the rest"

Crimes and even murders are reported in the US / UK on a daily basis (alleged to have committed a crime). If someone is charged with a crime in the 'west' the public think they are guilty, until a court finds them otherwise - this is just a fact of life.

    5. "Quite clearly someone was very very very angry with the David and Hannah, and had means to do something about it"

Why were the "very very very angry" with them? What do you base that statement on. Yes they were murdered, nobody knows the reasons why.

  5. OUTSTANDING! Kudos to all involved. Thais do many things better than the West, and this is one of them.

As frustrating and confusing as Thailand often can be, it is a good place (because there are many, many good Thais here).

Actually, in Australia HIV medication is already free and doctors can choose from a variety of types so that the most effective is administered. In Thailand, I don't know if patients get a choice.

Ummm... no it's not free in Australia, it's on the PBS $36.90 or $6.00 concession (may have increased due to Abbott), some organisations may provide free medicine or help you pay for it. HIV drugs cost between $500 and $1800 per month per drug, it easily costs over $2000 per month for HIV drugs. Many other new drugs can cost of $2000 per month - pharmaceuticals are VERY expensive.

The therapy is called "combination therapy" a patient is on a combination of drugs and the combination ins't changed unless there are server side effects of the combination isn't keeping the viral load 'under control'. Many HIV positive patients have a viral load of "undetectable", all this means is that their viral load is VERY small and extremely expensive teats are required to get an accurate result. The doctor has to be approved to write scripts for the drugs (s100) and the Federal Government (PBS) has to give approval for the script to be written, they can't be filled at a 'normal' chemist.

"HIV infection can drop so low that they will not spread the disease further"

That is such a DANGEROUS and UNTRUE statement. The is NO cure for HIV and the is ALWAYS the possibility of a HIV positive person infecting someone, their 'combination' may not be suppressing the disease as it has in the past, of the patient could have been infected with a different strain of HIV, there are so many other reasons. If this is the official Thai line HIV infections will continue to rise.

  6. This is happening On Koh Samui 100 fold. My company hires some Burmese worker and we do all the Legal work permits for them. But that being said I know of Many other companies that hire illegal Burmese worker and the Immigration on Samui take their fees for the illegal worker as well. I still do not understand why the authorities and Military are not coming to Koh Samui to clean it up as they have done on Phuket. And why they are turning a blind eye here, And it has nothing to do with Suthup... Koh Samui Needs Help... Help...

Let's say one had a mythical magical country that had endemic systematic corruption. Let's say that money feeds up the line to some group or other at the top.

Then let's say this was largely ending up with 2 distinct groups. Let's say one of those groups was suddenly empowered to run/control almost everything.

Would they seek to eliminate ALL such activities or just the activities that fed the other group?

    Hypothetically speaking ....

    And there is a GOD!!!

A female, lesbian, black, alien GOD clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

She has just made pigs fly...

  7. There is a big difference between a legitimate subsidy and a populist scheme aimed at winning favor/votes.

It backfired on the Shin regime because they made all those crazy promises - rice payments, pads, cars etc, but failed to deliver on many fronts.

The junta will be darned if they do and darned if they don't. They cannot just ignore the rice farmers, they have to assist them in some way. And for those of you who say the rice growers should just grow another crop, well you are displaying your ignorance of farming practices. It is not that easy.

Yes with the glut of rice atm, the farmers need income support until the rice market 'normalises' after the last Governments corrupt and disastrous scheme, and to stimulate the economic in a sensible way helps the whole country.

  8. NOT A CLUE!!!

From OP "The stimulus package, said the prime minister, will be the main engine to drive the economy during the rest of the year as exports are out of the question. He cited figures from the Commerce Ministry which show exports for August shrank 7 percent compared to the same period last year."

"BANGKOK: -- Rice exports in the first eight months of the year grew significantly, by almost 60 per cent year on year, to 6.59 million tonnes, thanks to strong demand in many markets and a high supply from government stocks, according to the Thai Rice Exporters Association.

The association reported that the value of rice exports also increased by 22.4 per cent year on year to Bt105.83 billion. - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/765638-rice-export-volumes-soar-in-first-8-months/"

  9. Officials: KOH TAO harbors thousands of illegal migrant workers

SURAT THANI, 4 Oct 2014, (NNT) - Surat Thani Provincial Army Commander Major Gen. Theenachat Jinda-ngen has said Koh Tao is home to over 3,000 illegal migrant workers.

The revelation came on the heels of the recent arrests of 3 Myanmar workers ,who confessed to having been involved in the murder of 2 British tourists earlier last month.

According to the Maj. Gen., officials have discovered that the island has over 7,000 migrant workers, only 4,000 of whom have registered with the authorities. He pointed out that the 3 suspects were from the pool of the 3,000 illegal workforce.

The Provincial Army Commander said that it would be difficult to track down these illegal workers if they committed a crime.

Meanwhile, the provincial labor office has said it would roll out mobile registration service units to the area in order to facilitate foreign labor registration, encouraging and enabling them to work in the kingdom legally.

No it wouldn't - any scapegoat will do...

  10. It's now shaping up to be a Dark of the Moon Party -- not a Full Moon party.

As the brilliant Pink Floyd remarked "There is no dark side of the moon. It's all dark".

    PARTY ON, Poindexter!

The new ad for tourists: Come to our island and buy drinks from murderers. Maybe you could be next!

These jokes don't really work on a thread about tragic murders.

    Welcome to Koh Tao, Thailand...

  11. So can you explain why Hannahs friend is seen giving Hannahs phone to the police, then the police magically find it near one of the suspects homes.
    Indeed.

That is on the MCOT own TV clip. If that is the case, then the whole case must be judged bogus

Sometime a picture is worth more than a thousand words..

Millions of people all over the world are following this case, some of them REAL CSI. so lucky that a few of Thaivisa posters have detected so much obvious errors that none of the experts have.

Keep up the good work boys, I'm sure you will be contacted by major governments all over the world to solve their unsolved crimes soon.

    Are you for REAL?

Do tell us who has access to all this CSI evidence?

And by the way Thai CSI evidence cheesy.gif
