  1. As the post says, I picked up my new US passport in Bangkok. I'd like to just go to Chaengwattana and get it transferred because I won't go back to Phuket for a bit. My visa is actually almost expired but was issued in Phuket (non-ED) and I am waiting for my work permit and business visa paperwork, so I'd rather not go back down to Phuket just to get the visa stamp transferred if I can do it in BKK.

    Thanks!

So which is it ? A successful businessman or just a poor simple kid making hos way in life?

    Speaking of which is it

    "

He said that the compensation would be a difficult business as it involves many people and the land couldn't be used for that purpose.

Mountain B was on rented land.

The lawyer further claimed that the nightclub was a "family business

So did the poor simple kid know he couldnt use the land for a nightclub and is it his or the families? Talk aboit contradictory b.s

I think what is meant is that the land can't be sold because he was only renting, so he can't personally sell it.

And that the club had different investors, so he wasn't able to figure out how or if any of them would help

    Probably the landlowners let them rent the building for the club with different people investing from his family? But he was the one running the show, and he can't depend on any of them;

    Just a guess

It's called "ท." he said. That would mean it starts with a "T".

    It's on "ร." - a road starting with an "R". Ratchadapisek

It's at the "ห." intersection. Words that start with this letter could start with an H, or many other letters for that matter! Huai Kwang

It's in the "ส." police jurisdiction. That means it starts with an "S". Suttisan

It's run by a Chinese man known as "David".

    • My Cambodian friend, who is on an MOU/non-LA visa is going home to visit family.
    • They have a work permit for Thailand.
    • They did not leave Thailand during COVID at all.
    • They have 2 vaccines and a 3rd booster - all from Thailand
    • They are flying from BKK to Phnom Penh on the 24th of this month (March 2022)
    • They are returning to BKK from Phon Penh on the 8th or 9th of next month (April 2022)

My assumption is that they still need a ThaiPass, however, it was unclear to me if they need pre-flight PCR tests before going to Cambodia and coming back from Cambodia. It's important not just because of the money saving aspect, but also because they live in the countryside, so they would need to go to Phnom Penh 2 days early and stay in a hotel in order to get the PCR results in time.

I heard that the pre-flight PCR is going to be scapped, but it's not clear to me if that means before leaving Thailand or before coming to Thailand, and when the requirement changes (March or April).

    Thanks!!!

  4. How is the situation with applying for tourist visas in PP right now?

My situation: American passport, entered on visa exempt before COVID-19, followed by amnesty and then converting to Smart-S. when that finished, moved to COVID extension. Left for PP 2 days ago when the COVID extension finished. (prior to this, have a history of 3-month non-Bs and a non-ED, all from PP).

I have over 1k USD in a Cambodian bank account and ~250k THB in Thai bank accounts. I could, theoretically, print out my account balances that show I have enough in Thailand, and I could book an onward ticket. But, I'm not sure if they are denying people these days.

I already applied for and obtained my ThaiPass approval to return at the end of this week. I was planning to enter on visa exempt, and then applying for a different type of visa inside Thailand that I was not able to do because of my previous Smart-S. But now I am thinking it would buy me some extra time if I can obtain a tourist visa.

I'm just not sure if 1) people are being rejected right now in Cambodia with similar histories to mine (and I don't want to waste money on a visa application or have any denials in my passport) and 2) if I would even have the sufficient documentation (print outs of my account balances - I should have asked for something proper before I came to Cambodia. But I can still go to my Cambodian bank tomorrow and get a statement - but it's just over 1k USD).

    He had several covid extensions.

I think you will be fine.

Obviously very nerve racking and it should not be so.

got approved for 60 days. the guy who showed up in the Michael Jordan jersey and shorts was sitting there for a long time, though.

i should add, i did include a flight itinerary as well. and the IO appeared to write more on my copies that i gave to her.

Positive report just today from someone I've been assisting, that obtained covid extension CW today.

Positive experience. Friendly io and obtained covid extension. Not even asked for TM30.

IMO don't provide anything unless it's asked for.

As the saying goes ..."keep it simple"

Good luck. Please report back your experience.

thanks. i'll definitely report back after i go. how many extensions did that person have? i'm going to N1, if that helps.

  7. Details:

    American passport

    5 previous COVID extensions

    I have my TM30

I have my printout of my online TM47 (90 day report) approved

10 months left of insurance coverage from AIA in Thailand (~25MB), which includes COVID

I was supposed to have a job, but they said they started the visa process but did not finish it (NGO), so I have a letter saying that (in Thai), which was meant for my insurance company, not immigration. Not planning to move forward with the NGO because they are taking too long

Need to go to Chaengwattana for this. Going tomorrow (a week early).

Imagine every country in this world would supply vaccines to all their citizens which are in other countries in this world. That would be a lot of vaccines flying around the globe. And for what? Most (all?) countries work on the vaccination of all the people in their individual countries. It just takes some time.

As far as I see there is no foreigner in Thailand who didn't voluntarily come to Thailand, maybe except from prisoners. Many foreigners are in Thailand because they enjoy that Thailand is different from home. But then some complain that x and y and z is not like home. Make up your mind! What do you want? Thailand with all the good and all the bad? Or only those parts of Thailand which you like and otherwise your home country should take care of you. Really?

    gotta love the constant contrarian.

France and China are providing vaccines to their citizens. why not the US?

Boils down to 2 options given his intransigent attitude, I think:-

    (1) 60-day COVID-19 extensions for as long as these remain available

    (2) A one-way flight back to the States before mid-March.

i don't think my views are intransigent. i originally posted that i wasn't completely clear on what the rules were to obtain a "marriage visa" (which i now understand is a non-O due to marriage) after marrying my girlfriend.

specifically, because the US embassy previously issued letters but does not anymore, to fulfil the financial requirement (400k in the bank or 40k per month), i was hoping there were some updated methods to still meet the requirement without needing to put a huge chunk of money in a Thai bank account. that's really what i came here for.

with that said, while i think your option (2) is a bit snide, i hope that your option (1) is available to me. i'm not sure if i have to cancel my SMART visa first or not. but that opens up a new round of questions: if it's difficult to change from SMART to anything, if i am on COVID-19 extension, can i change to other visas while in-country?

i didn't make a post saying the immigration rules should change for me.

You can't change a Visa type in Thailand, only the reason of your permission of stay.

I don't think you can apply for an extension based on marriage from a SMART Visa either.

If anyone knows it will be@ubonjoe

Messages posted together, great minds think alike. lol.

i entered originally on a visa exemption right before covid. i had just left my job and was planning to find a new job. that changed to a covid extension. then i changed from the covid extension to a SMART visa. now the SMART visa is about to run out. i have some job interviews but no offers yet.

I don't know much about the smart visa. But I am sure it cannot be changed to a non-o visa.

Only the office that handles them can answer that question. I suspect a person would have to leave the country and re-enter with a non-o visa.

Why are you sure it cannot be changed to a non-O? can a SMART visa be changed to anything? for example, covid-extension? and then to a non-O? or to a tourist visa?

No, they have somewhat different  requirements.

You already have a visa so you will not be getting your ‘first visa’.

Yes, but it would not be an extension to my SMART visa because the non-O is a different visa. So I would be getting a non-O based on marriage rather than an extension to a non-O.

I am trying to use the correct language as I noticed in my post and replies I wasn't quite up on the lingo. So I would need to determine how I can meet the requirements for getting a non-O based on marriage while in the country already on a SMART visa.
