  1. How can Thailand even think for one minute that the world does not know that those 2 people are completely innocent,I hope they never get another person to holiday on that forbidden Island,,its already riddled with corruption and cowards of the lowest form. The people who pull the strings on that Island should hang their heads in shame.

Speak for yourself. Apart from some keyboard warriors and armchair investigators everybody thinks they are guilty.....

Let us pray that you are hacked up by the real perps.

  2. Anybody who thought these two were innocent were living on wishful thinking and ultra biased reports of what was going on in court. I am not for the death penalty but these two are animals and except for their early admissions to police, their lawyers, embassy and rights workers they have showed absolutely no remorse. The people who represented them on this idiotic defense of innocence should be ashamed of themselves. They should have advised they plead guilty and have some hope of seeing freedom again .... then again these two are animals who I don't believe will ever not pose a risk to society.

  3. Well either the Millar family know something and have heard something that none of us have because the statement from the brother on behalf of the family was very very strong and very critical of the petition that was raised and the 'activists' who defended the B2,,

I would say it's probably the strongest statement on a court decision I have ever heard and I really feel sorry for both families but unless there's something we all don't know this is going to be appealed and for sure there's a massive story hear that the UK media will follow this up as it would seem there's massive massive flaws in this court decision..

They don't even speak or read Thai!

I'm disgusted by the families & by the British Government.

The whole thing stinks & various people on that island have got away with an atrocity

I would agree it would seem so. I'm not sitting on the fence but just rocked by such a strong statement from the Millar family..It really has left me thinking have I and most on here missed something !! I'm just bewildered to be honest. I just can't believe that what I have heard of all those months has ended in a judgement against the B2,, and such strong support from the family of David..

No, there hasn't been ONE shred of evidence. As somebody pointed out you can't question a judgment.

  5. Oh Dear, just how is this international disgrace to be spun locally ?

Very easily. It will be conveyed as a misunderstanding & that everything is fine. As 99% of the nation are unable to read English due to the elite wanting to keep the nation uneducated, they will have no other external source to inform them. Much like all the other BS that is fed to them on a daily basis.

  6. Another scenario...

Something I would not like to think happened, but given the fact that it is now said that both Hannah's David's DNA was on the hoe as if both handled it.

Could Hannah have used it to defend herself against David, hitting David with it, David snatches it off her, in a rage kills her, he stumbles in the sea and drowns???

No I would not like to think this is what happened but there again I do not want to see innocent people sent down for this crime.

Third person moves the hoe to protect the owner of the hoe from being accused?

For the love of God have you not seen David's puncture wounds, caused by a knife/shark tooth etc ??? Have not seen David's black eye, bruises etc. Please inform yourself before submitting such absolute piffle

There has been a lot covered over the last few weeks I do not think that anyone of us has been able to take in all the facts, many of the pictures were just to gruesome to view, I was just probing a possible scenario, possibly you have answered my question.

Ok, sorry I thought you were just trying to obfuscate matters. There are a few people trying to derail the threads. If I were you, I would view the pictures, they will definitely give you a sense of why people are so horrified & angry by the way this case has been manhandled.

  8. Amazing all the comments, and mainly they are coming NOT from genuine tourists, but from long stay individuals

Immigration needs to define tourist, and exclude long stays from using it

There are retirement and marriage visa extensions

There are working visa for school teachers etc

    There is the Investment visa

    There is the elite card

You can choose from quite a generous list but long stay should not be using tourist

Thai Immigration needs to completely drop the word 'Tourist' from any visa classifications. It is arcane and in this day and age, totally redundant. Most countries subscribe to a non-immigrant "Visitor" visa and sub-categories for business, investor, education, work, etc.. Clinging to this 'Tourist' label shows how myopic their whole view on the rapidly changing, totally dynamic nature of international travel and migration.

It would also serve to shut down the noisome debates that erupt frequently on TV between the pontifical over-50's that qualify for some form of domicile here and the younger, more mobile traveler, squatter, digital pikey, who can't retire, don't want to get married, invest or pay taxes, etc..

Exactly, why can't an under 50 show x amount of money in the bank (Thai or Foreign) and get the same visa. It's ageist in my opinion

Tourist definition - a person who is travelling or visiting a place for pleasure.

There is no mention of time in any definition of the word 'tourist'. If you are under 50, not working in Thailand and do not want to be involved in the 'elite' card scam then there are not too many alternatives.

Why can a person not be a tourist for 10/20 years??

It's not as if there are generous benefits from the welfare system to gorge on.

  10. Prayut said "Crop rotation practices must be adopted.

Please to see he is on the ball there with the development of agricultural methods!

. By 1800, many European farmers had adopted a four-year rotation cycle developed in Holland and introduced in Great Britain by Viscount Charles "Turnip" Townshend in the mid-1700s. The four-field system rotated wheat, barley, a root crop like turnips, and a nitrogen-fixing crop like clover. Livestock grazed directly on the clover, and consumed the root crop in the field. In the new system, fields were always planted with either food or feed, increasing both grain yields and livestock productivity.

Yet the government continues to develop crop zones, for sugar cane as an example, promoting monoculture acrross whole provinves.

    • 5 Million Bahts, that I presume is peanuts to her but there again her insurance should have paid more
    • The guy was working, should not they have life insurance as part of the job that pays out triple in the event of losing his life in carrying out his duties.

What I would like for her to do is pay for the best education (school fees, uniforms, books, etc) for his kids including university if they make the grade.

  11. If the outgoing Police chief is the same person that refused a breathalyser test and tried to pull rank, and then later changed the rules, then good riddance.

As hard as it is going to be to achieve, Thailand needs a police force that ACTUALLY enforces the laws. The local police box has a police officer on duty there Mon-Fri (except public holidays) every week. He is such a hard worker, NOT. He parks his motor bike on the footpath, sets up his layback chair, takes off his police shirt and just sits there all day doing nothing but eating, reading papers and like the majority of Asians, playing with his mobile phone. These cops need to be given daily quotas of official bookings to make so they can actually earn the wages. So many laws are broken right under his nose and he just sits there and ignores them. Thailand's finest hard at work.

No, its not him. The police chief is involved in nefarious activities much worse than that. His wealth, including vast amounts of shares bought just after the ko Tao murders are disproportionate to his salary, to say the least!

  12. @Snig27: that's rubbish. Main reason for export slow down is the economic weakness in China and other Asian countries. Other countries are similarly impacted and those with a larger commodities/mining exposure even more so. This is not about politics.

Take your head out of your arse. No civilised countries want to deal with a military government. Add to that trafficking & aviation problems and Thailand is quickly becoming a pariah.

  13. .

If they could protest peacefully and in their own backyard nobody would care about it.

I guess you dont see the irony in that statement?

Oh and where did the yellows run the airport and sutep lead protests?

As I've stated NOTHING has been done to solve the underlying discontent, and having suthep and his divisive ways back is only going to make things worse.

I see it, I just don't think it justifies the red to kill and bomb as they always do when they don't like something. Now if they want to do that let them do that in Chaing Mai or Isarn or something like that. Let them bug their own. At least the protests of the former yellows were on their own home turf and far less violent.

How many hundreds of thousands from the North have died/been killed under years and years of subjugation? How many stories of enslavement, torture and mistreatment have been retold from one generation to the next in the North. How can you be surprised by the hatred??

Another point is that due to the elite keeping the population uneducated, they are easily open to manipulation by people like Thaksin/Suthep. Much more difficult to get an educated person to risk their life, don't you agree?

If the rich hadn't treated the poor so wickedly over the last few hundred years, then there would have been no Thaksin to fill the void. You may say he did nothing for them, but 1 baht is better than nothing when you are destitute & have been trodden on for hundreds of years. He manipulated a lot of people for his own benefit but is worshiped because he gave them a voice & a small chance of betterment,

It is the utter contempt the elite have for the poor that has brought this to the fore over the last 20 years. Pandora's box has been opened and it cannot be closed now.
