Yes, that's what I meant actually. They don't routinely cull stray dogs here in the Netherlands but as there aren't any stray dogs roaming the streets, whatever they are doing is working. We do have animal shelters of course and I presume this is where the stray dogs end up after they have been neutered and vaccinated. If people want a dog they are encouraged to get one from a shelter rather than a dog breeder. Nevertheless most of the dogs I see in my neighbourhood are pedigrees.

And the latest case in the UK where a man was mauled to death by an XL Bully that he was taking care of for a friend. The police shot it dead. XL Bullys have been banned in the UK since February this year, the only exceptions being registered dogs who have been spayed/neutered and have to wear a muzzle in public. I'm guessing this one was none of those things.

There are no stray dogs in the Netherlands. Go figure .....

Except the latest breed to be banned in the UK is the XL Bully, a derivative of the Pit Bull. Pit Bulls were banned years ago. Not that it stops morons importing them from places like the USA and breeding them clandestinely.

That was different article about the two Burmese wanting a review of their case, which was followed by another article detailing some of the deaths of tourists that have occurred on Koh Tao. The Daily Mail only picked up on this latest incident at the same time as the Mirror, whose article is quoted in the OP.

The folks on the infamous pub crawl were not only downing buckets of booze but partaking of "hippie crack" as well, according to the press reports. No wonder they all end up wasted.

The information I've seen is that the GF is Australian and has gone back there. She appeared to have been travelling around SE Asia before this happened. Now we hear that she is a teaching assistant in the UK, which is news to me. Her posts in tribute to Theo were on Instagram which I presume has now been made private. The news of this death was most certainly suppressed and the British press have only recently been tipped off.

You got it in one! The Thai press hasn't picked up the story either, as far as I know. This incident was known about not long after it happened but there was deadly silence in the media.

I would hope the next of kin and the victim's relevant embassy/consulate would be the first to be notified when a foreigner dies in Thailand. I've no doubt the family of this latest victim already know of his demise.

A few weeks ago, the arrest of a British drugs dealer on Koh Tao was reported in the news. It was reported in the press in Thailand that incidents involving tourists on Koh Tao were being suppressed to avoid further bad publicity for the island. Fair enough. In this latest incident it is not known what really happened because the press haven't picked up the story. Social media is saying the gentleman may have fallen into a storm drain but who knows for sure (do you?) since the information is not being released.

Yes, there has been another tourist death on KT. Details are sketchy because the news is being suppressed by the powers that be on KT. It has been reported on social media that he died after going on a pub crawl. He was found the following day near a dive shop wearing the pub crawl t-shirt. There are photos of him attending the pub crawl with his girl friend. It may have been an accident but who knows?
