I live in China and have lived in Korea. I don't believe the reports of Chinese spitting on tables - they spit on the floor (carpeted or not) and use the floor as an ashtray & garbage can. Koreans spit in ashtrays (on the table) and use the floor as an ashtray & garbage can.

I live in China and flying domestically is just crazy. Due to new affluence, it seems half the pax on any flight (especially around New Year & Mid-Autumn festivals) are flying for the first time... and regard the 'rules' on board as much as they do the traffic laws - following them is totally optional:
- tray tables make great 'toddler' seats during take-off and landing;
- just before the landing gear hits the tarmac, you get out of your seat and open the overhead to 'get a jump' on the competition;
- before the reverse thrusters are turned off, you whip out your cell phone to let the family know you've landed;
- it's okay to smoke because you handed one to every other male in your section of the aircraft.

Unless he butters-up the right person, the store owner is toast - his jam has been labeled 'troublemaker'. Keep a lid on it... and let's hope it doesn't spread.

How about taking on the army of aggressive South Asian suit dealers you encounter at every tourist destination?
Even though they're not an endangered species, you're not allowed to take Indian tailors out of their natural habitat.

No nine-year-old should be driving on a public road. That being said, from what I saw in the video, I'd feel much safer (as a passenger) with her driving than 95% of the adult Thai taxi drivers with whom I've had the pleasure to survive rides.

Christmas is coming... and it's getting cold. Time for the candy cane toads.
Perhaps, like alcohol, certain toxins in poisonous animals also dilate blood vessels - making one 'feel' warmer - and increase heat loss leading to possible hypothermia? What ever the case, I'll stick to a good single malt scotch if I'm going to kill myself by being dumb.

I beleive something was lost in the translation. When something like food goes bad ... Thai say . Aharn per phit. Translated literally .. food has become poisonous.
The only thing wrong with your theory is that meat is LESS likely to go bad/become 'poisonous' the colder it gets.
-
I've always thought that drinking spirits improves the circulation and can prevent the extremities from suffering in cold weather.
Alcohol dilates the blood vessels and causes you to lose heat more rapidly. This can lead to hypothermia.

When it gets cold, I like to take off my clothes, get drunk and chow down on cane toads.

Now I know eating poisonous animals can be detrimental to my health.
Thank you National News Bureau of Thailand.
You are probably lucky enough not to be as superstitious as, not to mention better informed than, many less fortunate Thai people for whom eating this kind of thing may be traditional.
It is also likely that you do not suffer in the cooler weather in the way that many Thais do and that in the absence of sufficient food you can just go shopping for more.
Take your derision and sarcasm towards a news report and shove it.
If eating poisonous animals is traditional, there shouldn't be any Thais left.

Don't. At that hospital, brains get sent to the kitchen.

So... low season tourists aren't worthy?

Sorry if this offends any Irish posters here, I really, genuinely, mean no offence.
No worries... they're all too drunk to be offended.
TripAdvisor sees Thailand reviews soar by triple digits

On the Destination Forums, there's form of censorship wielded if a handful of people (members with vested interests) click on 'Report Post' (for any reason). The post/thread gets deleted automatically because it hasn't painted a picture of all being: 'butterflies, waterfalls, rainbows & unicorns'... even though the post complies with the guidelines. Other posts, not in in compliance with the guidelines are allowed to stand.
TripAdvisor never communicates - one is never told why posts/threads mysteriously 'disappear'. Likewise, the reason(s) for rejection of a submission for a new listing of a business in order to write a review.
