  1. A friend of mine just went for a condo in Centric Sea in Pattaya. I know it isn't Bangkok but it is one of the so called sought after condo's in this area.

The Condo is on the 17th floor size 35.33sqm with 1 bedroom and has seaview. 3 months ago the condo was offered at 112,992 Bht/sqm.

Yesterday the same condo, which hasn't been sold yet however the building was completed some 6 months ago, was offered to my friend for 83,000 Bht/sqm.

Big Smile and offer them 50.per sqm.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

This is new condo straight from developer.

  2. I have used Line to call landline or mobile in my home country for the past few years without problems.

Now in the past 2 or 3 weeks whenever i want to make a call I got the message that the network was overloaded.

Then today when I call a landline, I first get a voice message from the operator in my country that the number I dialed is not in service, though it is my parents number and I called it from the contact list.

The following calls I hear the phone at the other side rings, my credit starts running which is not normal, but nobody answers the phone.

I use Skype and the phone is answered right away and I'm informed that no previous calls were received.

I retry another 3 times using Line and each time same result as earlier that the credit start running, call is not picked up, and at home no phone is ringing.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Line recently?

  4. But the prices are insane. Why is it more expensive than comparable parks in Australia where the minimum wage is like 10 times higher. I'm pretty sure they'd still make a nice profit at 500 Baht a head. 1590 Baht is ridiculous.

I take it that you actually haven't visited a water park in the west in the past 20 years.

Try it once an then report back with a review of the entrance price.

  5. I cant see how this will help the country ,

Perhaps the idea is to stimulate domestic travel over the Songkran holidays, possibly encouraging some to stay in Thailand rather than travel abroad. More baht spent at hotels and restaurants increases their income and creates jobs. More people out on the road travelling means more revenue for even small shops and noodle shops. Remember that you would also still be paying VAT and any additional profits at companies would pay tax on those, and this would offset some of the tax revenue cost.

You actually think that small shops and noodle shops are paying VAT. When was the last time you or anyone for that matter paid the VAT and received a receipt at a noodle shop?

Noodle shops are the only restaurants in Thailand you're aware of? You must lead a glorious life.

  6. I took my family to CN on the first day it opened (soft opening) and signed up immediately for the platinum membership. I guess I got lucky because I met the right people that day. They gave me 18months membership for the price of 12months and every time we went until the official opening the food and drinks were free. They allow my family of five to enter on a family of four membership at no extra cost. They also allow my mother inlaw to visit free as she is in a wheel chair. All my kids have had birthday parties there with guests at no extra cost. When my extended family comes from overseas they are not charged entry either. All in all CN has been a great experience for my bunch and I hope Ramayana is as accommodating and family orientated.

Great to have these places being built in Pattaya.

When I read your post it seems as if you have an annual pass for 4 but in fact enter with a full tour bus at no charge.

    Must be missing something here.

  7. A few weeks ago on a Sunday evening I took my son, who has Thai nationality, to the Pattaya city hospital with a stomach infection.

He had a blood test done, received antibiotic injection and antibiotics and other medicines to take home, and I paid nada, zilch, nothing at all.

I signed the bill, which I think was over 1000 Baht, but they said I didn't have to pay anything, even not 30 Baht.

    How do you explain that?

    Magic amulet?

Not all hospitals apply the 30 baht charge as some feel it is not worth the administrative burden of collecting it. So MoPH made it optional at hospital's discretion. Some will be free and some 30 baht.

The 30 baht amount dates back to early Taksin era. Why they haven't raised it to at least 50 is beyond me.

Yet under Abihisit and the Democrats it was abolished but under the PTP Thaksin clone the 30 baht charge was brought back again.

Under Abhisit it was free, wasn't it?

  8. We called in yesterday , its nice clean and lots of shops ,but to be honest , its the sort of place i might visit once every 4/5 weeks for something to eat ,there was a spicy Thai place which was good , the supermarket was ok ,but nothing to write home about ,all in all very nice but nothing special .

Well, when you wanna jump up & down on a trampoline, where you gonna go, man?

Thanks for the heads up, been looking to jump up & down on a trampoline for the past 22 years.

  9. So realistically what have we learned ?

    Absolutely "Nothing".

So many questions could have been asked.

But then again, asking questions would have put the deputy in an uncomfortable position.

Maybe he did the interview on the basis of no "real" questions.

The below line in CousinEddy's post has learned me a lot.

"The former mayor, secretary and city council have leased a building and have formed 'We Love Pattaya team'."

It has learned me, that the building on Sukhumvit isn't a temporary City hall, but will function as an administration in exile.

I also learned from the post that the rumors that have been going for a few weeks already are actually facts.

NCPO takes over Pattaya city administration. Take note that the placed their man at Pattaya police station recently also.

  10. Without trying to hijack the thread.

  11. If foreigners with Thai families cant be arsed to get citizenship then of course they should have to pay. Most can't even be bothered to attempt to integrate judging on the Thai language level of many I've met. If you want to live as an outcast take the consequences.

    Agreed.

I accept that I live in Thailand with an Australian passport and will happily take my family to the national park and happily pay my way.

I remember living near Darra in Brisbane which is a huge Vietnamese community. All tight knit, could not speak English, but Vietnamese friends said all these people did was complain, complain, complain about Australia.

If you don't like it. Go home.

"If you don't like it. Go home." - anyone who uses that phrase is clearly unaware of how facile and cliched it is, which in turn kind of collapses any argument they thought they had.

Fine then. If you prefer to leave your own country to call Thailand home and then take pleasure in complaining about it day in and day out until you become a bitter and twisted old man then go for it.

I would prefer to enjoy my adopted home without the bitterness and the day I am complaining about it everyday tells me that I will have a better life elsewhere. (unless I enjoyed complaining all the time)

Each to their own though and I assume you will be at home complaining while I am at the national park enjoying time with my family in my adopted country.

    Thanks for your reply.

Enjoying the National park at 10 times the standard entrance price? Because you don't have citizenship, isn't it.

Indeed some people never complain, they prefer to live with the blinkers on.

  12. The questions that went unasked and unanswered is: WHY are the mayor and deputy mayor moving out of City Hall to another building? What changes about their daily duties and authority?

I heard some time ago already that the mayor had moved out of City hall, but it was to a different building from the one mentioned in the OP.

Anyone lately seen the mayor at any public event?
