Interesting. The 'employer' dies. Who is liable for severance pay? Is it applicable when the 'employer' dies? Does the estate have to cough up? What happens if the estate has insufficient funds for the payment?

Oh, and the surgery is not covered under the Thai 30 baht national insurance? Medication also not covered?

The estate assumes the same legal commitments as the deceased.

I think most things are covered under the 30 baht thing, but depends on what kind of surgery I think.

  3. For the Usufruct, it is basically up to each land office to grant. The problem I think for the land office is the "fruct" part of it, meaning a grey zone where the foreigner is allowed to profit from the land, which is a paragraph 22 issue for the land office, since foreigners are not allowed to engage in activities/work of such type, they can't even get a work permit.

But 'She receives a decent salary'. Her choice.

Not if he dies penniless. I'm sure he's paying her over the minimum government wage.

I'm just stating what the law of Thailand says. The estate of the deceased is a legal entity in this context, meaning the estate has the same legal obligations as the deceased. Minimum government wages has nothing to do with it.

  5. I recently went into and out of BKK from Prachinburi for my vaccine shot. There were one checkpoint set up by the police on the way in, but it was just one of those unattended show checkpoints with loads of tents and people sitting there basically doing nothing. On the way out of BKK however, I encountered a very active military checkpoint at Phanom Sarakham. They seemed to stop vehicles with certain registration plates, presumably red zone plates, but let all other pass.

Listerine, schmisterine! Buy yourself a bottle of 80% or 90% ABV vodka or rum, and enjoy a decent shot swilled around your mouth and gargled in your thoat. Unlike Listerine, it's fine to swallow it afterwards, and it's 100% guaranteed to kill any SARS-COV2 that it comes into contact with. Your doctor might not agree with me, but it leaves you feeling much happier than after using mouthwash, lol!

YES! This is my favorite mouthwash, occasionally changed/mixed with Jägermeister. Store in freezer for best effect.

The informal sector of the Thai economy, comprising anyone who's not covered by formal work

arrangements, accounted for more than 64% of the total workforce. It includes street vendors and taxi-motorbike drivers, the self-employed and those operating in "grey areas" of the economy [e.g. prostitution]. They are largely counted as employed.

If, for instance, you lose your job as a bank teller and return home and lend a hand at your dad's farm for at least one hour a week, you are considered as employed.

The official unemployment figures do not really reflect the situation.

Don't forget the emerging army of Foodpanda and Line delivery motorcycles.

Can someone help me understand why Lazada shows three different prices on three different devices for the exact same product?

Lazada does not set the prices, the sellers do. If you search something, for example if you search for "Huawei P40 pro" you get about 102 pages of shops selling various products, 44 shops on each page, sometimes with the same shop appearing multiple times on the same page. Many have varying prices, then you have to look at the details to see why the prices are different.

    Insulation problem.

Ditto, probably insulation problem over the fuse:) But it seems the insulator is not working well. I think this in combination with poor connections your meter. The fact that neighbors are not having problem may be because they use almost no power at all. The video should wake PAE I think.

i will go to the PEA and tell them catergorically our connection is loose, and see if we can blag a quick check out by one of their guys

Maybe you can take a pic of the incoming terminations at the meter and the outgoing terminations that connects to your house? Maybe someone here can help further with that additional info.
