  1. The Road traffic act actually allows for undertaking (passing a slower vehicle on the left side) if there are two lanes or more in the same direction and there are no vehicles behind you. Chapter III, part II, section 45.

    http://web.krisdika.go.th/data/outsitedata/outsite21/file/Road_Traffic_Act_BE_2522_(1979).pdf

Overall, the right lane (in a two lane or more in same direction) is for overtaking only. It is not allowed to continuously drive in this lane. Unfortunately often there is no other choice because the left lane is kaputt by all the overloaded trucks and poor road works. Fortunately it is gradually getting better (the road works that is).

Chapter III, part I, section 37 also have this valuable instruction regarding signaling:

Section 37. Giving signal with hands and arms shall be performed as
    follows:
    (1) when the driver wishes to slow down, he or she must stretch his or
her right arm outside the conveyance at shoulder level and wave his or her hand up
    and down repeatedly;

Allowing yourself to get fleeced because you are weak is nothing to be proud of.....

Carry a licence and stay within the regulations and the police can’t fleece you.

....And...... the police most definitely do ask for a licence at a Police stop....

I have a valid drivers license, and, as I said, I have never been asked for it at any police stop, ever.

  3. This being Thailand, of course, whatever vaccines are being distributed from the Central Govt. to local authorities, will of course secretly be given to local Govt. employees first, top down, starting with Governors and trickling down to finally get to the Police. Military brass would surely already gotten their shots months ago, again, top down. I know for sure about local Abata employees already scheduled for their shots.

So, Sinovac it is. As the experts keep telling us, any vac is better than none. The risk to your well-being from the disease is far far far greater than the risk to your well-being from any vac.

Thank you benevolent Chinese Communist Party guvamint. We look forward to doing more business in the future.

I think it is down to some back alley vaccine shot at Soi Cowboy; "Hey, Farang, you! you! have vaccine China, vely good! you take! 10,000 Baht!".

The precise wording on the title of the document is not usually a matter for concern. The Labour Court looks at all of the facts in the round, and they will not dismiss a case over the use of a word in this way. If they did this then all employers would have to do is write bad contracts and then they could never be held to account.

The Labour Court is used to dealing with people from quite disadvantaged backgrounds who are taking action against employers who come from a different background.

Agree completely, the wording "contract" has no meaning, but the text in the document has meaning, for example if it states working for a limited time on a specific project, then it is a time limited contract.

  6. Does it say "Contract" in the document? According the Thai Labor Protection act, A limited time employment contract can only be done for a very specific time limited project, which has a specific ending time. For all other cases, an "Employment agreement" is made, for which a time limit cannot be set. If there is a time limit and the job involves everyday routine activities such as general management, consulting etc. and not a specific project, that time limit has no meaning and no validity.

For the payments, I think you are in a grey zone legally, by accepting the salary payed for so long, it may be understood that you accepted the payments. You need some documented proof that you have complained or asked about the problem as soon as probation was over.

Pool at condo here in Jomtien opened yesterday. I dove right in. Open today too. Will be diving in after coffee. Don't know if they got the wrong memo or what...but it's all right by me!

Of course it's ridiculous that swimming pools were ever closed to begin with. Amazing Thailand never ceases to amaze with vague and random dimwittedness.

Apparently the Corona virus can survive for days in water. Not sure about chlorinated water though..

Oh dear, you missed so much.

You don't know that a Juristic Person (with capital "J" and "P") is not a person, do you?  It's a legal entity, an "it", and the Juristic Person's responsibility is not to "represent the condo owners".    The JP entity is designed specifically to maintain and keep up a condominium complex for the purpose of providing the various property holders within that complex with certain things like common area maintenance, garage parking maintenance, pool maintenance etc.

Oh! I am so mistaken then, to erroneously believe that the Committee that is elected in the annual AGM for a two year term to represent the condominiums interests should act in the interest of the co-owners in any matter .

Some years ago, I visited the Land Department at CW (Bangkok) to make inquiries on this matter. Only foreigners who have "Permanent Resident" (PR) in Thailand are allowed to buy a condo in Thailand "Without Making A Bank Transfer From Abroad". BTW, are you a PR ? If not, I am very much surprised how you could get the "Chanote". Please take note. Khap Phom.

Not a PR. Most of the time the Land office are clueless about the actual rules and have a personnel turnover not allowing on the job training. There is no actual interest in reading any regulations. A rule can be followed in one land office and not so in another office. I just wanted to see an actual text stating that the funds must come from abroad, like an Act, such as the Land development act or the Condominium act or a ministerial directive, not som verbal communication from some official.

If you know what switches are (a basic concept of linear algebra) you can get rid of unsolicited offers on Facebook, too.

Easier to just dump the app. If the default setting in an app is to flood me with <deleted>, it's no good in the first place.
