  1. I can do MANY things for living in Thailand...without flinching... including watching cockroaches and rats scurrying along the street nearby..... as long as they don't climb on ME!!!!!

But, I WILL NOT wipe my face with toilet paper...and try my best to avoid using it for anything other than its intended purpose. How in the world Thais came to choose that paper for their napkins, I don't know...and don't really want to know. Same for using it as non-existent paper towels in most bathrooms.

Just doesn't work for the intended purposes, whether at the table, or at the wash sink. Even some Thais I know carry around their own bags of baby wipes so THEY have something to clean/dry their hands with...

okay, i'll bite, although i think i'm gonna' regret it.

why can't you wipe your face with toilet paper? (without flinching)

How in the world Thais came to choose that paper for their napkins? cheap, sanitary, convenient...

  2. So, the idea is to film a problem dog gnawing your leg off, or whilst it is attacking your child. The film can then be used as evidence against the owner.

Brilliant idea! Why didn't I think of that?

actually, i don't think he would be capable of filming a dog while it was gnawing his leg off, and i would hope he wouldn't just stand there and film while it was attacking a kid. silly post, in my opinion.

i actually think filming the act, possibly from a friend from a safe distance, would go a long way in proving the danger of "said" dogs.

  3. little johnny comes home from school, peeks into her mom's room, sees her lying on the bed, naked, rubbing herself between the legs moaning "i need a man, i need a man"

next day after school he peeks in again and sees a man in bed with her.

he races into his room, peels off his clothes, lies on the bed rubbing himself between the legs, moaning "i need a bike, i need a bike"

  4. Us English have tattoo's, beer bellies and black eyes to show our identity, we've no need for a flag.

don't forget the chronic whining and bad teeth. :o

i'm off to buy some flags..

  5. Im sure there will be a Canadian along any moment to answer this.

just wondering why you would say this.

are canadians looked on as flag wavers??

i'm canadian, proud of my flag, but i don't think canadians are any more proud of their flags than a lot of other countries.

    just wondering is all...

  6. TURNPIKE,

every one here has their view including you,so dont knock someone that may have had problems with thais and are having their tenpenny worth on here.

generaly i have found very little vandalism in thailand(pattaya also) unlike england where i used to live.i have a wonderful life here and so happy i could fart but there is an underlying feeling in pattaya that the drug and violence is escalating.that is not moaning that is being honest, and unlike many of you that live up country or on the darkside older people are getting more concerned.

more younger tourists here drinking in excess are not helping the situation,as they feel brave and underestimate the ferral instincts of many young thais here.i personally have many thai friends and have never had problems here in 4.5 years except for one young farang who decided to misbehave badly to me.yes,i can move on to upcountry but i accept that pattaya can be dangerous like any other country and my instincts are still excellent at smelling potential trouble that i do not have problems here.there is also a jokular attitude too, on these posts and maybe some people are taking it too serious.i actually thought the post of stealing fillings was excellent and true, but lets all chill out and enjoy life here and be SAFE.

    hanibal,

thanks for the reply, your points were well taken and i hope mine were as well.

please, without me trying to be stir the sh*t, i haven't been a member here long, but a bit longer than you.

thai-bashing here bothers me so much, i sometimes see it where it isn't.

but in my last post, it was there for all to see. sorry, i just get pissed off at poeple who move here and piss and moan about thailand like their own country is better/perfect. here i go again, time to pull the reins back....

pattaya or isaan, the world's changing, can't do much about that, i guess.

    good luck to us all,

    tp

  7. Why Doesnt Thailand Have Vandalism?

    Coz, they're too lazy.

i'm assuming because your post was in red it was sarcasm?

Because they're too busy scamming and theiving.
typical thai-bashing bullshyt. go back home if it's sooo bad.
Maybe you havn't noticed all the high walls with barbed wire/broken glass, bars on windows, guards posted at most business.
yeah, but have you seen any vandalism? i believe that was the question,
I have to agree with Dakhar, what with all the shanty towns and ghettos that I've seen up and down Thailand, including BKK suburbs, it's impossible to see what has been vandalised and what hasn't. It all looks the same
i admit never seeing the "BKK suburbs", i can only imagine that there are people living in squalor there, fair enough. but to say there are shanty towns and ghettos "up and down " thailand, come on pal, that is really generalizing, don't you think? my neighbors and friends live in shacks, but they're some of the happiest, worry free people i've met. i envy them.
So little crime???????????? jeeeeeeeeeez they'll take the fillings out of your teeth while your yawning here if your'e not careful.
jezuz h chryst, if it's that bad... again,go back from where you came. although it's obvious you're exaggerating, but c'mon, if it ain't that bad, don't say it is....
Why is there so very little crime? People are working 8-10-12 hours a day, 6 or 6 days a week.

It's not that they are too lazy to do graffiti and vandalise things - they don't have the energy.

I think that kids are more likely to put 50 bahts worth of fuel in their motorbike, than to waste 50 baht on spray paint etc.

    finally, some words of wisdom.

i don't live in BKK, i live up country. i've had stuff stolen from my land, who hasn't? but i get sick of the constant thai bashing day after day after day after day from expats i know and on this forum. of course, this country sure ain't perfect, but tell me a country that is.

where i live there's glass on top of the walls but no vandalism, but i'm pretty bloody sure that's not the reason for it.

i'd better stop now before i get my azz banned....

    cheers,

    tp

  8. my lab is pregnant at 9 months. i won't go into details, but a farang neighbor's dog is responsible. it runs free, has no shots, and must be part deer because it jumped a 5 foot fence more than once to do the deed. he (the dog) is a handsome fellow, but of no fixed breed other than soi dog.

me and him now have a problem, but that's beside the point. we took her in to get a "shot" to end the pregnancy, but the vet, a very nice lady at the khon kaen university clinic, said that if she was more than 3 days pregnant, it could do her a lot of harm. since we were't 100% sure, we didn't give her the needle.

now, upon reading some info on the internet, i find out 9 months is awfully young for a first time mother (i read 18-24 months is the optimum age for a first litter). a lab's gestation, according to the info i read, is 63 days. we figure she's got 5 to 8 days to go. i'm a bit worried, like a first time father. her teats are not developed as much as i think they should be. the pair closest to the hind legs are nice and full but the rest, tho' bigger than before she was pregnant, don't seem full at all. i gave them a squeeze today, no milk yet.

anyhoo, was just wondering if anyone here could give me some advice. i've witnessed lab bitches whelping on youtube, read up a bit on google, but as per most people who ask for advice here, some first hand knowledge would be nice. the male i would say was slightly smaller than her, which to me is a plus.

she is a beautiful dog with an absolutely lovely temperment, i just want to do the best i can for her.

  9. You said "very finely ground chicken bone "...How fine of it?? as powder or just finely chopped bone?

the bones, though not ground into a powder, are ground fine enough where you wouldn't need to worry about a dog choking on it.

thanks for the info, BambinA, and happy 35th! you've been a big help to many people in this forum, your posts are always informative and entertaining. keep up the fine work.

  10. my wife has started buying very finely ground chicken bone (mostly from the neck i think). we boil it up and add it to the dry dog food (alpo), the alpo making up the majority of the meal. when it's boiled, it tastes good enough for me to eat, smells just like chicken soup, a bit of a fatty layer on top, but not too much.

i would think this would be good for dogs, but maybe i'm wrong. between 7 dogs (3 bigger,4 smaller), we use 2 of the standard "soft drink" sized plastic bags which are right full of the bone/broth mixture.

we used to buy pig bones, boil them up the same way, and mix the broth with the dry food, then give the bones to the dogs to chew on.

i know there are some learned people in this forum, just wondering what most here would think is the best way to go, or if in fact it's not a good idea to do this.

thanks in advance to any people who reply,

    turnpike

  11. 2 irishmen were trying to measure the height of a pole with a steel tape, but the tape would keep bending and falling before they could reach the top of the pole.

a blonde comes by and asks "what are you guys trying to do?"

they tell her "we're trying to find the height of this bloody pole, but our tape measure keeps bending before it gets to the top."

blonde points to the base of the pole and says "see that pin there? if you pull out that pin, you can lay the pole down to the ground and then measure it"

they pull the pin, lower the pole to the ground. the blond grabs the tape and measures the pole.

"12 feet, 6 inches" she says proudly, and walks away.

"typical blonde" says one irishman to the other "we ask her for the height and she gives us the length"

  12. No offense but I thought this forum was for people to ask questions and discuss things related to farming
    .

no offense meant and no offense taken. you're onto a good thing in this forum, i was just trying to help you get the most out of it.

    good luck with the land,

    tp

  13. kolohe,

scroll down a bit on this page, you'll see a thread about "farming self suffiency". a ton of good info there.

also helps to search this forum, if you do a little legwork here first, post questions with a little more info about your own situation, you will get a more positive feedback.

please, no offense, but i've seen questions like yours countless times in the farming section. i don't post much, mostly just lurk, but i can sense that a lot of people here get tired of answering the same question over and over.

you wrote: "I'm in the information collection stage so throw out anything you got"

better if you: "find out everything you can" first. it doesn't take long to get a decent grasp of the pros and cons.

again, no offense meant, just a little constructive criticism. good luck with the land if you buy it.

  14. I am a Leo (born in July).

My best Thai mate is a Leo also.

Now I discover my new g/f is a Leo !!!

    Strange.

Another thing, as we were all talking birthdays last night in the pub :-

The Thai's could not understand why I have no idea what day i was born on as they all remember the day. He born on a Saturday and she on a Wednesday. I forget the others.

Thai's seem to think it important.

When I mentioned I know my birth weight, they laughed and said that is deffo not important.

    Ah well.

    Weird :o

just wondering, what kind of beer do you drink in thailand?
