  1. Will try the sausage place. I have seen it on the way to the seafood market.

    Yes its here:

BTW they have excellent frozen lamb chops at a reasonable price.

    Don't tell anybody whistling.gif

I went to SS Sausage this am, only sold in sliced packages.

  2. Try KPK foods .com

Wouldn't that be the place behind BigC Extra?

That is the place I went to. Yesterday only sliced packages. I then went to Foodland. They had the last 500gram end of a ham in the deli which I bought, 299baht. Would like to find a place that sells them whole1-2lb. Will try the sausage place. I have seen it on the way to the seafood market.

  3. I know a great Khao Soi Gai place for 40B, but not in Pattaya.

Also know a great Nam Ngiaw place with congealed pig's blood for 30B, but it's not in Pattaya, either.

Also know a incredible fish noodle soup for 30B, but alas, not in Pattaya.

Also know a fantastic Pad Thai Haw Khai place for 35B, but unfortunately, not in Pattaya.

Why is it you live in Pattaya again, 555?

As JingThing has already stated ''This isn't so much about Thai food.' - so thats one of the reason we all live in Pattaya

TAEK LAEW DEE ( i think thats what you call it ) foodland , pattaya klang. best value for food i have had in pattaya ( ever ) very good hygiene and service.

    IRISH ROVERS only good for breakfast , i can never finish it ( ever ) 99 baht. 2 eggs,bacon,2 sausage,2 toast,beans,potatoe,tomatoe,tea,orange.

KISS FOOD . only good now for salads, deep fried pork salad and tuna salads for 85 baht.

i used to go to robins nest soi dianna , jollies ,soi buakao and the seaside soi chaiyapoon but all their prices have really increased maybe by a third so i never go there now. i can eat better food for less back home in my country than pay their prices.

when long term and not in holiday mode i eat only at roadside noodle stands , my favourite is bottom of soi buahkao outside 7-11 kao mann gai . 30 baht.

Irish Rover now 129b for breakfast - new change of ownership

Set meals (as opposed to buffets) might fit the criteria here. For example, Indian thalis. Sadly have not had an Indian thali in town where I think Wow plus how do they do it (neither actually). Also platter meals. Such as at the Lebanese restaurant on 3rd road (and also in the beach mall) they have a large vegetarian salad platter for 350 baht. I like it but I don't feel very satisfied with it. Feels like it needs some falafel balls at least to make it more complete.

2 series replies, although you wont think one of them is.

Indian Thali which always makes my taste buds go wow - be careful of this green sauce... I like it so much I drank some from the serving bowl when nobody was looking and paid for it later - its soooo strong - but lovely

I went out for dinner and had this veg thali which was 150b - water 20b

Rioja Gentleman's club - hard to find, see below.

Located just off Soi Watboonkanchana (or known locally as Soi Watboon cos of the wat at the end of the road) - turning near a big 20 baht shop, heading down WatBoon towards Sukumvit, the turning is on the left at the big 20 baht shop - before this, keep on going past the Tesco lotus on the right, and the market on the left - about 300 meters is the 20b shop - go left here. Rioja is about the 2nd or 3rd turning on the right down this road.

Free Sunday lunch if your bill is 300b - I got there on the only Sunday I had been and the lunch was cold, but still actually tasty - very good gravy (cold! I know) - I'd like to know what time it starts. I am off the beer right now, but maybe back on it by this coming Sunday :(

I hear the alcoholic drinks are not too expensive - I got 2 soft drinks (coke and a water), 1 lady drink, 1 free Sunday lunch, 1 bar fine and a tip... total bill = 1560b including TIP

So with no lady stuff - you could possibly be drunk and get a free Sunday lunch - parrrp.

JT, you might not end up spending as much as me I think if you were to go!

That option #2 is a definite WOW!!!

  4. Looking for a place that sells hams, 500gram or so, such as pictured? There is a place that advertises them behind BigC Klang but twice now they have not had them.

  5. I have bought rib eyes from Hickory a few times & they are about as good as it gets. Better than I can get at top notch butchers in a Western Canada were we produce a lot of beef. Last time I went there they opened a new package and gave me a ruler to measure the cut I wanted. It is very expensive. The 1 3/4" cut was 730baht.

  6. The front loaders I believe use a lot less water. I save a ton of cash with mine.

I can choose the water level in my top loader.

Can you do that in a front loader ?

How much money do you think you save a month ( ton of cash )

    over having a front loader ? 75 baht ?

or is it a saving because you run a laundry ?

Sorry, what I meant by that was the savings due to no longer using a laundry. This surprised me as I did not think I would ever use the washing machine my last rental came with. A year later I would not want to do without one.

  7. I guess the OP is a glass half empty kinda guy.

Who wants to pay full price for half empty glass? Or a half full one? Thais love to sell ice for the price of an expensive drink. The excessive ice is a form of cheating; why call somebody who doesn't want it a "cheap Charlie." And the fact is, if you take out all the shaved ice (shaved to pack more in), you are NOT left with a glass that is half full or empty. You are left with less than a quarter glass of the product -- very expensive.

I went round and round on this several years ago. And I NEVER won a round. I finally gave up and simply stopped buying the drinks. No iced coffee, no juice (its sugared, too), none of it. Solved the problem, and healthier, too!

As for the bus, you've probably been here long enough, Possum, to know that time means nothing here. It's why I ALWAYS carry a book to read.

Now South Korea, wow! I visited there a few years ago and was <deleted> amazed at the trains and buses. If a bus or train was scheduled to leave at 2:00 p.m., you could look at your watch as the second hand moved toward the scheduled time of departure. At the very moment the second hand crossed the 2:00 point the bus or train began to move -- EVERY TIME! If ever there was a discrepancy, I could rest assured that it was my timepiece and NOT the bus/train.

And they are quiet, too. If you raise your voice above a mere whisper, somebody was sure to turn around and give you a "shhhhhhhh!"

You are right about what you are saying Linda, I know very well that time, and customer service does not matter here, like I said, people traveling could be depending

on getting to their destination for some appointment, we would all allow some time in case the bus is late, I just thought this was very weird, the main point being

I was told that the bus is waiting until it was full, what if it took another hour, or even more?

As for the half full drink, what about the very many expats here who love their beer. what would they say if they were given half a pint instead of a full pint?

    I rest my case.

Come on, a pint is an imperial measurement. A large whatever is whatever they determine it to be unless stated otherwise.

  8. I do travel a lot on buses and I usually use Chan Tours or Nakhon Chai Air.

    Never encountered this problem.

Buses are usually on time with a 5 or 10 minute the most delay.

As about the lemonade and I presume you mean Sprite, your best bet is 7/11 where you can fill your own cup to the top with any ice or not.

No I don't mean sprite, this was a shop that deals mostly with drinks and ice cream. The drinks are already cold so why

fill your glass with ice when you are only left with two or three mouthfulls? Yes I know, screw the customer. Money is king.

Would a full smaller cup have satisfied you?

  9. Baht buses run up and down Pattaya Klang**, so hop on one that is going towards Sukhumvit road. Get off at Sukhumvit road and it is a short walk to Index (turn left towards Pattaya north). **This is assuming that this route has not been changed due to the road works - I don't think it has.

The journey from Index to Jomtien would depend on which part of Jomtien you are visiting.

Probably best to cross over Sukhumvit road using the footbridge and catch one of the white baht buses going south. If you want the north end of Jomtien, get off at the junction with Theprasit road and catch a blue baht bus down Theprasit road towards the beach. If you want south Jomtien, stay on the bus until the junction with Chaiyapruk road (crossroad with traffic lights about 2km past Makro) then hop on a blue baht bus on Chaiyapruk road heading west, down to the beach.

Or, you could walk back to Pattaya Klang from Index and catch a blue baht bus back into town and get on the regular routes to Jomtien.

Is there one that travels from Pattaya 2nd Road and turn right into Pattaya Klang ?

I am actually returning to Thappraya before Pan Pan.

I live right by there. My way would be take the white or light blue baht bus on Suk to the lights at Thepprasit then walk across intersection and take a dark blue one from next to Outlet Mall down to Thappraya.

  10. I am well aware that there are larger studios and 1 bedrooms available at the View Talays--the front and back corner units are larger as are some units on the side on each floor. But, the majority are long box units of approx. 40-48 sqm. with balconies that are maybe a little too big in relation to the interior space. It's been awhile but if I remember correctly the original poster was looking for a rental for around 20,000 Baht a month so he would probably be looking at a regular studio unit in the newer View Talays but could maybe get a double unit one bedroom in VT1 or 2.

In the last month I have seen on the outside bulletin board of VT2a a studio for 10,000 and a 1 bedroom for 17,000 long term.

  11. Be interesting also when they get to the high rise condo at the marina end of Walking street. Another one that went higher than approval and building suspended

. Sorry I didn't see ya, Batboy, Great Minds think alike.

No Problem's. Just buying a condo in Jomtien myself that is just being built so hope its all ok also. Only problem is how many Russians bought condo's to and have had to let go because of their money issues

My condolences to your wallet sad.png

Better chance of protecting that cash by hitting the Baccara tables. Better yet, go barfine the entire Baccara staff for a couple of weeks. At least the money would provide some amusement.

  12. This building is quite likely dangerous. It is standing now, but fill it with furniture, tourists & their belongings, and it could be the case that all it would take is a mild ground shake, and down it comes.

They are trying to do their duty to prevent a future disaster.

They should demolish the building, and sue the owner for the cost plus interest.

The bill will be much higher, of course, than if the owner contracted the demolition himself.

How about the court issuing a daily fine of say 50,000 baht for each day their court order is ignored?

In that area you can add on >7 Indians to a room.

  13. I thought they went in and smashed this place up about a year ago!

Just get on with it, they sure can procrastinate here.

A probable scenario; The government official who owns the place got the go ahead to construct under YL. He is hoping he can stall the demolition just in time for a favorable change of regime, maybe, perhaps, who knows.
Doubtful. National politics does not really come into play in Pattaya whereas local government has been under the control of the same family for decades.

@ least they did, now? 1 of the siblings was a Minister in Cabinet so it could just be a valid scenario.
