Shame you had to spend this much money for a imported shocks when they are available in Worachak of the rack for half the price!
BB
How much would those shocks be now bought(and fitted) in or around Hua Hin?
My regular taxi lady has a Avanza and the suspension is really bad and very uncomfortable on my back. It may be that the current ones are faulty but if they need changing then she should invest in better shock absorbers if she's a taxi running farangs about. Ok, she's been quiet a few months but she's already picking up quite nicely
Let me know please guys thanks

If this thread already exisits, apologies....Mods please move, thanks
I started a thread the other day debating the Pros and Cons of returning to Europe(thanks for all the excellent responses)
However one thing that kept appearing were discussions about insurance(for Covid 19)
-Please share anything here re insuracnce policies for Covid 19 that you may have looked at, taken out, rejected etc
-Travel Insurance may or may not cover, it depends on several factors
-Plus if you stay longer than originally stated then your general travel ins cover may well not be extended
-One poster found a policy at https://www.roojai.com/en/covid/ but might not be for everyone, check the T&C's esp re length of stay
thanks

personally I've never went anywhere without travel insurance, not really sure what a smart guy like you Tanoshi means by posting about "anyone with an ounce of sense"?
this topic is about being in Thailand as opposed to being back at home, if you are in Thailand and stay longer and your insurance runs out then you're going to have
to be insured against covid if you can?
my insurance company who I take out yearly insurance with sent me a letter 6 weeks ago telling me future policies won't cover for covid 19, I'm sure they are not the only one's.
covid 19 medical insurance is needed for people overstaying and also will be the "new norm'" for future travelers.
yes Hugh, just because you had Travel Ins doesnt mean you have Covid cover now or will have it next week or whatever.
I think Tanoshi is missing that point. ( but his info on Roojai is helpful and informative, even though there remains some ?? over eligibilty for many )
Plus as you say due overstaying many travel ins policies will not extend due max period, regardless of covid
we could really do with a thread on covid 19 insurance! I might start one tonight 555

It has been well publicised, but I would assume that if it is true, then it would only apply to the Virus and not any other health problems.

Look at it another way.
How many in Europe would feel safer in Thailand ……… quite a lot.
Lower infection rates.
Lower death rates.
No panic buying and queuing for essentials at the supermarkets.
You can at least take exercise whilst maintaining social distancing, due to the better climate.
Going back to Europe at the moment would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
You can get very cheap Insurance to cover Covid in Thailand. 850 baht covers 100,000 in medical bills and 1,000,000 in the event of death to a beneficiary.
Thanks Tanoshi, good idea to look at it in reverse! Any links to that Insurance you mention, thanks

I was here in 'difficult' times (red and yellows) and never felt in anyway threatened...
I remember i was sitting outside a bar on Sukhumvit drinking a beer with friends and 'fully equipped' military vehicles were going down the road!
Thanks Bill, its reassuring to hear such stories....

Those that don't have insurance should go home if they can , it's a no brainer , could you imagine the bill after a couple of weeks in ICU?
Lockdowns will continue to get tighter here.. Slowly but surely
Agreed, i wouldnt even contemplate staying *without* insurance that includes covid 19, not a chance
but with it , im really torn as to what to do
ideally stick around and see what happens, hope that UK assist with flights out if things get dodgy

yes feel same way, hence dilemma. The one thing that would make me leave here is if things got dodgy and i dont mean the virus. I mean being a farang and being' mistreated' simply because of it
And i do have an opportunity to fly , well i do at the moment anyway, thats another concern ie that option may be taken off the table
as an aside i ran my own business from aged 26 and made big decisions quickly every day
since turning 50 Im sh@t at making decisions, because i consider all factors ....old age hahaha

I cant be only one with this dilemma...
so, my story is i spend 6 months of the year here (playing golf is why im here) and i have for the last 7 years.
Before Covid 19 really broke out i was seriously considering staying a few months more. But things are now very different.
I just cant decide whether to go back to UK or not? I dont 'want' to as such, no real pressing need for me to be there, no work or family committments, someone can take care of my property. But there's nothing to do here as well as there
-The bigger concern is 24/7 curfews in Thailand v UK
-Flying home is a risk in itself.
-fight could be cancelled/overbooked
- flights out could be grounded for months
-Insurance- i can get here in Thai should i stay
- Cases/deaths are way lower in Thai than almost all of Europe
-where is 'safer'?
Anyone else had these thoughts and would like to share the Pros & Cons?

You know all these extra documents that are being requested( such as utility bills and photographs of you at the room, owners ID etc) are they ONLY for those visa exempt(30/60day) extensions?
Do they also apply to 1 year retirement 'visas' (extension of stay)?
Thanks -
2 minutes ago, jackdd said:
There is no extension which you can get "online", every extension requires a trip to immigration.
In case of the 30 day Corona extension based on an embassy letter, you have to request such a letter from your Embassy. Apply for an extension at the immigration office, get a stamp with an under consideration stamp, then 20 days or so later go to the immigration office again to get the remaining days.
sorry its the Embassy letter thats avaialable online, my bad! thanks

Any visa. But getting a yearly extension is obviously way more comfortable than having to visit the immigration office once or twice a month.
thanks but still slightly confused, sorry
If my 1 year extension of stay(retirement visa) is due say end of May, can i get a temporary extension 'online' ie without visiting Imi, thus putting back my renewal date. Im not suggesting i would do this i just want to know if these special extensions can be used this way.
And i assume all these extensions are for a month ONLY
thanks again

does these special extensions apply to 1 year 'visas'(extension of stays ) as well or just visa exemptions?

Im facing a very similar situation but in Hua Hin. In that i may well need to go and renew 1 year about 2/3 weeks earlier than the 45 day rule. Wondering if they will allow due CV19 whuch is geniuine as i may be forced to return home *before* im technically allowed to renew visa(earliest date April 13th)
i suppose the only way to really know is to go there and explain my predicament but evidence of other cases would be handy
thanks

Reposting this as new topic as couldnt find a home for it.......
I'd be interested to know if Thai Immigration will relax the max 45 day before expiry date rule for renewing a 1 year visa
This would be on the the grounds of COVID 19 and all the mass confusion and disturbance it's causing, plus visitors to Thai will doubtless want to return early to take care of families back home and not be stranded.
Im due back in 6 weeks and I really don't want to go home 'earlier' as such but I think my travel insurance company may soon say I'm no longer insured. Then id have a big decision to make
Naturally i wouldnt want to leave before renewing my Visa thus clearing the way for my return later in the year. Under current rules im not allowed to renew prior to April 13th, and i MAY be forced to leave prior to that.So hopefully Thai immigration will be flexible and allow people to renew earlier than is normally permissible due exceptional circumstances
So I'd be interested to hear of any Thai Visa renewal/stay extensions rules being relaxed/modified as a result of COVID 19
Thanks -

Coming to Thai next week for 6 months. Last trip someone local got me (on Lazada) a 6 month pre paid data sim with a separate number(Tru) for 300 baht plus tax, data limit was 300 gb (200 + 100 Youtube,FB/Line TV) and the speed was 1mbps which was ok for me . no extra charges and calls to other Tru users were free. I just cant make sense of the Lazada website *at all* and i want to give a link to a friend to buy for me so its there when i get there next week . Can anyone see the most appropriate and cheapest for what i want as per last year? my phone number is with Tru but i guess as its a seperate card(dual sim phone ) i could use any network for the data. to get me thru 1st week i was maybe going to do tru code but they are expensive versus the longer terms deals(*900*1973#1 is 107 baht for a week 1mbps- anything better?).
Calls- I tended to do a calls package seperately(90baht for 200 mins) but maybe theres a good deal out there for data and calls too(although i dont need that many mins per month) thanks all .

Anyone know how this will actually work?
I know it's average best 8 of last 20
So of players average is 83.4 at their club on a par 72 with a course rating of say 72.5 what's his/her handicap? Is it simply average minus course rating? So 10.9?
Also how do they calculate daily adjustments for weather/hard pins etc?
Thanks

In MAY this year I got a 1 year extension to my retirement permission stay
And I have a reentry(single)
But every time I pick up my phone I read about TM30, new laws, big conferences with Thai immigration etc
Should I be worried? Is there anything I need to do in advance of my return early November? Will anything be different re 90 day report?
It's bad enough worrying about flights out of UK just after Brexit!

It worked for me in the UK for a month last year, but, you do need a good quality internet connection. At one time though I tried watching football on my tablet using a friends internet it was almost unwatchable, with continual buffering. he had a more basic Talk Talk' connection which obviously wasn't good enough.
the thing is tho, i have great internet avg 25mbps DL and from mid May to last week it was fine(not great, had to reset every hour or so but i could live with that,) in previous years it had been a non starter, but this year was ok.
Stereolab....since last Wed, on TV my picture sound is out of sync but to be honest it doesnt matter because the picture freezes anyway after 15 secs so unwatchable. Ironically the only thing i could watch was Prem Footy and the service was 'normal'. As for Movies/Series i get the "cannot play m8u3 error 404 cannot find" which i think means it just cant find what its looking for
Any alternatives Guys?
