A friend has discovered on arriving back in Thailand from an overseas trip that he was only given six months instead of twelve when he applied for his retirement extension last February 2018. As his extension expired in August 2018, he was given a 30 day visa exempt on arrival. Unfortunately, he omitted to check his passport after receiving the extension.
Is it possible to convert a 30 day visa exempt either to a tourist visa or directly to a non immigrant O for the purpose of retirement and if so, what is the procedure? Apparently this can not be done at Jomtien, but could this be done at Chaeng Wattana? He does have a Bangkok address if necessary.
Thanks for any replies.

Not always so...I met my girlfriend on Thai Friendly four years ago. We clicked immediately and met two months later. She was true to her photo , comes from a good family and has a good job in Bangkok. Our first date was at a rooftop bar at a hotel in Sukhumvit followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. We have been happy together ever since.

Thanks Joe,
I'll get my letter before the end of this month. At least I will escape next year's rate hike.

How far in advance of an application for a retirement extension can one obtain a statutory declaration for income purposes?
-
Thank you Joe. Yes I should have said I signed a statutory declaration.
-
Can the Income letter still be obtained in person at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok?
Last year I signed an affidavit there without proof of pension or other income. The cost of them witnessing my signature was 500 baht.
-
Okay...Thanks to you both for your replies

If using a combination of income and funds to apply for a retirement extension, do the funds still have to be seasoned for three months?
Thanks for any replies.

The OP's friend probably will end up getting charged considerably more by his Australian bank in credit card cash advance fees and foreign currency conversion fees, plus the potential for accruing interest, than the potential 200 baht Thai bank ATM fee.
Yes. He withdrew 8,000 baht from a Kasikorn ATM and the exchange rate was terrible to boot. He should have brought more currency than he budgeted for but that's the price he paid for not coming fully prepared.
-
Thanks for your your replies. The amount required is less than 10,000 baht so it seems any ATM will do. If we get down to Sukhumvit today before his flight, we might try the Citibank ATM at Asoke.
Thanks again,
Chris

A friend who is currently on holiday in Thailand, needs to withdraw funds from an ATM using his Australian Commonwealth Bank credit card. Does anyone know which ATM he should use for his withdrawal?
Thanks,
Chris

Maybe this checklist helps?
Unfortunately, it doesn't help. I have tried all the suggestions and nothing works.
My 90 day report is due on the 21st July. What other options are there besides going to CW?
Can this be done at Latphrao. If so does anyone know how to get there from Latphrao MRT?
Thanks,
Chris

I found the user agent and used every one and they all allow me to fill out the form but the competed form will not submit. If anyone has used a MacBook to do the 90 day online reporting successfully please tell me the user agent you use. The completed form simply will not submit.
What do you mean the form will no submit? Are you getting a popup message or a blank page?
If you are getting the message to contact you local office ti could be that you have entered some info incorrectly.
I am also getting a message to contact my local office after filling in my personal information. I can't see that I have entered anything incorrectly. I have entered the number of my arrival card assuming it is the same number on the departure card under the bar code. Apart from that, everything has been entered correctly.
This is my first 90 day report.
Can anyone help please.

There appears to be a whole bunch of serial overstayers of late on here.
Why have so many left it until after March 20th to go,and leave themselves open to a lengthy ban, which I think could well be the case for the OP.
Perhaps they don't want to come back!

I have just called the airport and apparently the office or counter has moved outside to near the Thai Airways ticketing office.
-
And where is the office? The only information I can find is " 4th level, zone 2 at the Passenger Terminal Building on 4th level on the east side."
That means nothing to someone unfamiliar with the airport.
Can anyone be more specific?

Can anybody who has recently obtained a re-entry permit (within the past 6 weeks) please advise what the new arrangements are at Suvarnabhumi Airport?
Otherwise, a trip to Chaeng Wattana will be less stressful than faffing around at the airport at the last minute. Not to mention the hassle of possibility not getting a permit Eg. Queues, unforseen delays, the immigration officer's discretion etc.
-
I need to get my re-entry permit also and was wondering if any of the required documentation has changed in the last year?
Not that I know of, but the procedure at Suvarnabhumi has.
Form T8
Passport photo
Photocopies of relevant passport pages
Copy of TM6 departure card
1,000 Baht
Where are you going to get your permit?
-
You will not have a problem. Make sure you bring your photo. You can download form and have it all done. Quick easy process. Don't waste trip and time at CW
Thanks Jacksam, I have everything prepared but I don't know where to obtain the permit at the airport. Previously, it was somewhere in Zone 2 but I believe that has now changed.
What is DM?

I am living in Thailand on a Non Immigrant visa extension based on retirement and I am leaving the country at the beginning of April for three weeks.
Has anyone had recent experience of obtaining a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi airport as I understand the procedure has now changed.
I am also leaving early morning and if there is any risk of not obtaining a permit, then I would rather go to Chaeng Wattana.
Thanks for any replies.

I submitted my Girlfriend's application for a visitor visa yesterday.
I'm happy to say that my Girlfriend's visa application was successful. We will be going to Australia at the end of this month!

I submitted my Girlfriend's application for a visitor visa yesterday.
Included was a letter from her employer stating the duration of her employment (12 years) her salary and the dates of her leave.
Copy of house registration and title deeds to land she owns in her home town.
A letter of support stating the reason for her visit, a short history of our 3 year relationship, details of our itinerary including my home address and telephone number and a guarantee of financial support and the date on which we will be returning to Thailand together.
I submitted the following items.
1. A statement of my bank savings account.
2. Copies of the relevant pages of my passport containing Thai entry stamps.
4. Copy of current 3 year rental contract in joint names.
3. Copies of accommodation receipts in Bangkok and for trips away in Thailand.
4. Copy of flight itinerary and entry and departure stamps to and from Malaysia in 2015.
5. Copies of Facebook conversations at various times I have been
home to Australia. (USB stick)
6. Photographs of us together in Thailand and Malaysia.
I hope we have provided enough information to convince them that she is a genuine visitor. When I submitted the application at VFS, they initially refused to accept the USB stick containing a 25mb file of conversations stating that it may have a virus. However, after sending me away to print the file and my returning to point out the impracticalities of doing so, they finally accepted the USB stick. Whether or not they choose to look at the file is up to them.To me, it was the most practical way of presenting this amount of information.

Hello again AustralianVisa,
I have prepared a letter of support to accompany my girlfriend's application. However, I have read on some websites that a statutory declaration rather than a letter would carry more weight.
As I can supply copies of documents as evidence of my support, I feel that a statutory declaration is unnecessary. What is your view on this?
Thank you.
Hi Samyan
The Stat Dec in theory should hold more weight, but I have seen them ignored so it depends how much trouble it is to get one organised for you and often people charge a lot for them. Also if you have the supporting evidence then that is more relevant and probative anyway.
If you need one done swing by our office and happy to quickly do for you for no charge. Can do in either Bangkok or Phuket if that is near you, just call me first.
Thank you for your kind offer.
If you are happy to do this, then I have nothing to lose.
I have prepared the Stat Dec. Will contact you for arrangements to take the printed copy to your Bangkok office.

I too have an account at the Bangkok Bank and never had a problem with them. However I would like to open an account with Kasikorn as I don't want the Union Pay Debit Card. At which branch of Kasikorn did you open your account?
