If you don't want to DIY then installation is going to be less than cheap.
Have a look on Global House https://globalhouse.co.th/Fillter/search/1?q=trina many of the on-grid solutions include installation.
Thanks Crossy-will look.

1x 330w panel (2 sq metre) will get you 1 unit of electricity a day.
Hardly worth the expense and trouble IMHO.
I've got 1 panel just to try it out.
Needs to be washed every month, loads of dust settles on it.
Once it's on the roof, how do you intend to clean it?
Good point-send up the missus? Seriously I haven't thought that far ahead.
Thanks.

I'm mulling the idea of having solar panels installed on my roof. I live in Phitsanulok with plenty of sun. Can any one help me with price per sq/meter. I haven't measured my roof area yet but it is quite large and might be worth doing if financially sound.
Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum-move if not. I usually have my eyes checked twice a year in Australia but due to cancer treatment I have not been able to get back for 12 months and it looks like at least 10 more months before I can go again. My glasses are starting to lose focus in certain situations-reading,looking at tablet/notebook. The examination in Australia is very thorough with many lenses tested before a prescription is issued then glasses sent to be made up. Here in Thailand I have never seen an optometrist use/have this sort of equipment. Even An eye test at BDSM does not include them. What I would like to know is where can I go (I am in Phitsanulok ) to get the correct new lenses for my glasses. Can any one help?

Hi Sheryl-As near as possible with the translation from Thai to English the surgeon's name is---Siwakom Chaiprasertwit. There were quite a few doctors involved in the procedure but this is the name I have on correspondence. Hope this helps.

Hi Sheryl-will get back to you ASAP on the surgeon's name. Wife put the paper work some where. All very professional and thorough-I highly recommend them.

Hi all-as a follow up to my previous post on this forum-Sat. 11th Jan. admitted to BDMS Phitsanulok for my hernia repair. Long story short, all good ,1 night stay, doctors and nurses etc fantastic, food good and the cost- 48,790 Baht all up. I was quoted 45,000 plus a few extras for this so an excellent result. Mesh type repair. Very happy with the result. Self funded not insurance.

If this hernia is the same as mine (in the groin ) I am today just back from BDMS Phitsanulok from seeing the surgeon re operation. Will be a general,1 maybe 2 nights in hospital depending on recovery. I have rechecked the cost today as the initial quote of 45,000-50,000 baht was considered by some to be too low. The nurse confirmed the initial 45,000 and said there could be an add on for blood test,x-ray and "internal medicine" doctor's fee (not a surgeon ) which would bring it to around 50,000 baht. This includes 1 night room charge also. Mesh will be used. Hope this helps.

Re entry permits are issued at IO office , I doubt they would issue it at the airport.
Wrong

Re entry permits are available at IO 's and both International airports in Bangkok. Probably at other air ports that have Immigration clearances.

I have brought into Thailand , thru Swampy ,6 months supply of two prescription medicines on many occasions. Always in carry on luggage and never been asked/searched once. Both are available here but terribly expensive. The Australian PBS helps with the cost.

You can also apply on line and get a 30 day e-visa. Then no need to queue at visa on arrival window. Check www.laoevisa.gov.la/index.

Having got a new passport in Australia,I went to Phuket Imm. and they transfered my stamps. No letter from Embassy asked for and very quick process. I believe if passport issued in home country it does not have to be certified as genuine which is what the letter obtained from the Embassy does.

Thai will for Thailand assets and will for home country assets.

Having flown to and from Australia many times from Thailand, I have been asked once,7 years ago for my visa (Virgin ) and no problems. Since then flying Jetstar, I use electronic check in and the machine has never asked me for my visa (lol ) nor do the staff at the boarding gate say anything. They take my printed from the machine boarding pass and that's it. So if you use on line or kiosk check in how can they look for a visa/ re-entry permit?

Did my yearly extension of stay due to retirement at Phitsanulok Immigration today with 800,000 in the bank. I leave the money in the bank and don't use it all year. The process was ,as usual, efficient and fast. I asked if I needed to present my pass book after 3 months so they could check the balance but was told "no need-next year we look". I said to the IO if money not correct no visa? and he said yes.

I have done 8 extensions on retirement-6 at Phuket and now 2 at Phitsanulok. I travel to Australia twice a year. Never done a TM 30 except when moved from Phuket to Phits. Went to Phits immigration today for a couple of things and was told-TM 30 required within 24 hours of return. AS well,I was told that 800,000 in bank was fine (I have always used this) and no need to show bank book we use for living expenses. Very helpful there.

I'm fully aware that I could lose all 500,000 under certain circumstances. Under certain circumstances, not necessarily the same ones, you could lose 800,000. I'm not specifying how or when it would happen, just that it COULD.

If things go really tits up and I lose 500,000 baht, just maybe you will lose that 800,000 baht also.

I don't think you can look at life expectancy of 6 years. If you import and bank 85000 baht every year for those 6 years you will have enough to purchase a further 5 year Elite visa. You cold do this ad infinitum.

Poster #24-I have recently had treatment for mouth cancer. I am too old for insurance (74) and I paid my way. It has now returned and I have to undergo more treatment which I will pay for again. I am not relying on Thailand, crowd funding,my partner's family etc. for money. I have enough for this treatment at the local public hospital (Phitsanulok) and the treatment is excellent. Please do not assume that all expats. can not afford health care outside of insurance. Some of us have planned well.

If you look at post 2 and 8 from Ubon Joe,both notices say "pension" not just income.
