  1. Hi WG-I too live in Phits. Last AprIl before a trip back to Australia,I got a re-entry permit from Imm. I asked if I needed to lodge a TM 30 when I returned and was told no, not necessary. I went to Imm. when I first moved here from Phuket and I have a slip of paper in my passport saying I have notified them of my address. I will go and see them before I go to make sure of the requirements. As said they are a very good bunch of people at Phits. Imm.

  2. Hi all-I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this topic but I couldn't find one dealing with legal matters. I live in Phitsanulok / Thailand and want to get a will made so that when I kark it my Thai partner can access my assets without too much hassle. The assets are only bank accounts-one in my name only for immigration purposes and one joint account in both names. I have tried a company that sponsors here but they want 30,000 baht plus two trips to Bangkok. I am looking for some one local that can help me. Any information gratefully accepted.

  3. To ID 13-Point1/150,000 was insurance not security deposit-money gone. I have  a Visa credit card with my oz bank.

Point2/ I was neither irritated or annoyed-it gets you nowhere here.

Point3/ As for no ties, I have a fully paid for house,a Thai wife and family and the bank is aware of that.

Thanks for your input, misguided as it maybe.

  4. Hi-I have several million baht in accounts with Kasikorn-last week I asked if I could get a credit card-I'm retired here 7 years-never worked. They said yes- if you lodge 150,000 baht insurance for one year. I said no thanks.

  5. Hi all-new to this so please bear with me. Am moving to Phitsanulok next week. I have a reasonable garden area at the side of the house I would like to try and grow a few veg. hydroponically. I have never done this before but was an avid gardener in OZ. I am particularly interested in Scoop1's post on page 12 No.287. Being a total newbie at this, could Scoop explain, in plain English please mate, the following:

How long does the 30 litres last as set up in the post? What are the meanings of A,B,C,D? What is the growing medium in the buckets? Do the buckets have a small drain about 1-2" above bottom of bucket? Are the plants fed by gravity from the 30 l tank or is there a pump set up? For how long do you allow the drippers to drip? eg 2hours on 2 hours off? Could I substitute a complete fertilizer in the short term until I can source the required nutrients etc? Sorry about all the questions but I would like to make a go of this and feed the family good veg. Would only be small scale at the moment but the wife has 12 rai in Chat Rakan that maybe utilised in some way. Thanks for any info-love the thread and have read all 17 pages. The area at the side of the house would be used if suitable.

  7. I will be renewing my extension (retirement) shortly-having read your post,no mention was made of the new 3 page questionnaire recently introduced at Phuket Imm.(where I will be renewing) as being required at Jomtien. Was this the case? I wish I could do the same as you and complete both renewal and re-entry on the same day at Phuket City but last year I had to return the next day to get my passport back (2pm) so no opportunity(time) to do it. Yes I know,I can get my re-entry at the Patong office but that still doesn't stop me having to make 2 trips into Phuket City from Patong. On this topic, having supplied address details last year and have paper in passport, are the same documents required this and every year as well, even though I am still at the same address?

    All relevant answers appreciated.

  8. Johnno2-I too am an Aus.living in Phuket and have been doing my retirement extensions by the money in bank route. I now find that my age pension plus a private super payment each month is sufficient to satisfy the monthly income requirement which then would allow me to access the 800,000 needed in bank for 3 months. My question (is/are)-is it ok to combine a govt.payment and a private super payment and will that satisfy the Embassy and what doc's were needed to be filled out. Do you have to make an appointment with the Embassy and how long in advance can this be done. How long does the process take-if I fly in early morning can I return Phuket afternoon/evening My next extension is due in mid June and I have money in bank for this if no go at Embassy. Thanks for any relevant info.

  9. I am thinking of moving to Phtisanulok (not in country area, most likely City) and would like to know what the requirements are for extension based on retirement. I am currently resident in Phuket and rely on the 800,000 in the bank system. However, I believe I would have to cancel that a/c and reopen one in Phitsanulok, 3 months before extension due (seasoning)-true? Also I would be living in rented accommodation so would I be required to furnish copies of tabien baan and owner's id card as required now in Phuket? Also, could someone give me the Immigration Office address please.

    All relevant information appreciated.

  10. BD-I have recently renewed my extension based on retirement (800,000) in Phuket.I was required to submit a 3 month statement and the usual bank letter-no one asked for proof of where the funds came from but like you,I bring cash into the country every 6 months, convert it at roadside exchanges and then deposit it in the bank (Kasikorn ).Your passport will have enough pages-the retirement ext.is one stamp

  11. I have been living in Phuket for over 5 years,I am on a Australian Aged Pension,am aged 70.I get paid $749 per fortnight, paid into my Australian bank a/c every fortnight.I return to Australia 2 times a year, bring back the money in my a/c and exchange it on the street here-better rate than any bank and you can take advantage of fluctuating rates by holding back some cash.I have a letter from C/link that tells me that as an Australian citizen resident overseas,I am entitled to the pension for life.

  12. I swim regularly at Patong beach-NOT the Southern end- and have had the same problem. On occasion I have been able to lift out of the water very small clear objects, circular or very near,in a string.Look like jellies but not sure. You can feel them in the water as they brush your hand.Don't know a solution but maybe cold tea?Good old cure for sunburn and itchies.
