They might also want to note that the space, water, fertilizers etc needed to grow all the extra vegetation stuff will mean destroying a lot more forests and the wilderness too... just look at the horrific effect of the palm oil industry has had on the rainforests in Asia for example.

True, the palm oil industry has had serious impact,  but pales in comparison to animal agriculture.  The majority of grain crops grown go to feeding the animal agriculture industry.

Who ever wrote is talking a lot of crap.

The biggest problem on the planet is man himself.

It has got nothing to do with eating meat.

If you mean the problem is man himself because he is breeding into existence all the animals for the meat industry. If you mean that about 70 billion animals each year are slaughtered for that industry and if you mean that most of the crops grown are to feed all those animals,  while people are starving,  just so you can eat a steak,  then yes the problem is man himself.

That error was cleared up, turns out the 38 million was actually number of visitors in 2018, number of OA visa holders in 2018 was 80,950 .

Wow, so that could be quite a nice little earner for insurance companies.  80950*approx 36000 equals 2,914,200,000 baht. And what was the amount unpaid due to hospitals?  Correct me if I'm wrong but I am think 3,000,000. Nice! Just the VAT on the insurance policies is 203,994,000 baht.

What they need  is to buy 200 new  planes, get a  new air vice chief air marshall rear admiral and give all staff and their extended  families 1st and Business  class seats as a  perk, lets say 60  times  a year to be reasonable, Im pretty sure that will fix  it.

And raise the price of tickets for standard passengers.

  5. 38 million non oa visa holders.  More than half the country is now made up of foreigners ????

someone else quoted the census numbers of total foreigners as 2.58 million.  That's a bit more realistic,  and it may even be possible for that number to make 3.42 million hospital visits. However, I seriously doubt 680,000 foreigners on non oa  visas didn't pay a roughly 480 baht bill.  Sounds ridiculous.

Anyway fed up trying to rationalise this issue because as usual,  instead of going after the non payers just penalise the over 50's. All 38 million of us... Just rubbish.

You have to wonder how they came up with this idea for OA visas but not the Non O based on retirement?

Yet another idea that hasn't been thought through.

The prices being quoted of around 60k Baht for the 400k baht of cover seem very high as well. There are cheaper alternatives available already. Will this push those premiums up?

Probably because those on non o have to actually have money in a Thai bank account of which they can't use half if using the bank 800k method or regular deposit into a Thai bank account if using the income method.  Both enable the expat access to baht should they need to pay medical bills. The non oa  does not need to have any money in Thailand,  thus it may be a concern of Thai officials about their ability to pay medical expenses if required. That's about the only reason I can see.  It sucks because I was going to apply for this visa next time simply because they didn't require the money in a Thai bank account.  And this visa could effectively last 2 years.

Yes. A very old  people  mover . He packs in about 15  small children.

The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

Shame on the drivers for this selfish act and the government for not seriously enforcing this long time implemented policy.  These vans should be off the road already.

Tourists generate billions of baht, if the Thais weren't so greedy part of those billions should go to keeping those beaches in pristine condition. Who do you see collecting rubbish on the beaches? Westerners (Tourists). Thais should get their own house in order before blaming others.

Five foreign tourists have spent their holidays collecting rubbish along Laem Pong Beach in Krabi

Why do they do this?  I don't understand.  Sure traveling to a country that needs some sort of humanitarian help and donating your time is noble.  But I don't think traveling to Thailand and collecting garbage that it's own countrymen ignore is at all noble. Is this another consequence of the 'rose tinted glasses' phenomenon that is also responsible for separating many a retiree from their lives savings?

For sure huge problem - LOL 1% of all crimes committed by South Sudanese gangs, who also comprise NZ nationals and Pacific islanders. BTW now slowing down as offenders across all non Australian citizens being deported.

people born in Sudan and South Sudan, who make up just 0.14 per cent of Victoria's population being responsible for 1% of the crime in the area. Enough with all the PC crap.  Send Big joke to Oz,  I hear he is available.

while some have also had their vehicle-tax renewal rights suspended due to the offence, Soros said.

So the tax renewal suspension does actually seem to be having an impact.  Prior the Somchais get speeding ticket,  then bin speeding ticket.  No problem.  It will be interesting if they actually do get the demerit points system working too.  Then you finally will be out of business.

    But will come soon.

Australia has the Sheriff's office set up with number plate identification cameras.

They pull you and you pay every dollar you owe for any outstanding infringements or you park the car and walk.

Everything is going on the big database.

Centre link and pensions are already linked to the passport.

Mine has to be manually scanned in and out of Australia every time.

And as soon as it is, the pension goes to 100% again.

    Big Brother is not silly...

Yes it is truly incredible.  The sheriff vehicles now have two cameras mounted on the top pointing to the left and to the right.  They cruise the streets and scan number plates of vehicles parked in the driveway and the system then identifies those with unpaid fines or warrants etc.  Wheels are then clamped in your driveway. But even that won't stop some people.
