That will be for the court to decide.

Helicopter Maker Leonardo Denies Liability in UK Vichai Crash
To summarize for those to lazy to read the report. A bearing in the tailrotor control crosshead siezed. This led to a cascade of failures that ultimately resulted in the tailrotor control becoming detached. The helicopter crashed due to loss of tailrotor control. I'm guessing Leonardo's defense will be that they did not manufacture the bearing, they specified what the bearing should be capable of doing, a company supplied them with a bearing rated to achieve this, but it failed. Will the family then go after the bearing manufacturer ?

Living will - is a lawyer required
I would definitely recommend a lawyer. However, my friend gave his verbally to a Doctor & Nurse from McKean in front of witnesses & the staff honored it to the end.

Leicester City's Thai Owners Seek £2.15B from Helicopter Makers Over 2018 Crash
It was not a mistake during maintenance, it was a bearing that failed, last I heard (4 yrs ago) they had not determined why it failed, but others were found during subsequent inspections that were in the process of failing.

Leicester City's Thai Owners Seek £2.15B from Helicopter Makers Over 2018 Crash
I was a Licenced Engineer on a helicopter (AW189) with the same tail rotor control as the AW169. The reason there was no further accidents, is that after the accident, the engineers were required to carry out detailed inspections every 10 flying hours & to dismantle parts of the tail rotor control to do further detailed checks every 30 flying hours. The root cause of the failure in the accident was a seized bearing. During our inspections we sometimes found problems in those bearings & replaced them. Disclaimer: I have been out of the helicopter buisness for 4 years now & I haven't kept up with developments since then.

Thai-ed up: British man’s terrifying prison ordeal in Thailand
Just a bit of added info from a friends experience. You are given a 5 year re entry ban when they throw you out. BUT, you have to jump thru a lot of hoops with the Immigration Department to have that ban removed from your record, my friend tried to board a plane to Thailand at the end of the 5 yrs & was refused boarding.

Chiang Mai Air Quality and Pollution
No, but it's actually been suprisingly good most days considering the time of year. Mornings tend to be worst with the cold air holding the smoke down in the valley. But its getting steadily worse & this is unlikely to change until the rains come.

Shingrix Shingles Vaccine now available in CM
I don't think a booster is required, but they're still gathering date as its relatively new. This is what I found, "Shingrix provides high levels of immunity for at least 7 years after vaccination, but it is possible the vaccine may provide protection for much longer."

Shingles Vaccine in CM
It seems that the Shingrix Vax is probably widely available in Thailand now. I recently visited McCormick hospital in Chiang Mai, they said they had it since Oct, 6,100 B per shot.

Shingrix Shingles Vaccine now available in CM
Folk, yes, that's what prompted me to get this done. I know 3 people who had it in the last year, even the mildest case said it was the worst thing he'd ever had. Spend the money, this vax is known to be very effective & long lasting, unlike the garbage most of us were forced to get recently.

Shingrix Shingles Vaccine now available in CM
A few months ago I enquired if Shingrix vaccine was available in Chiang Mai, at that time it was not. A few days ago I was at McCormick hospital getting a medical when I noticed an advert for Shingrix. I enquired & was told it has been available since October & the price is 6,100 B per shot, you need 2 shots, 2 to 6 months apart. I got my shots in BC Canada, for approx 4,500 each. Just a note of caution, both me & my wife had quite strong Flu like symptoms for about 36 hrs after both shots, I recommend planning to stay home after. Note to Moderators, I think this is Chiang Mai specific, please don't move it to the general medical forum.

Where to buy GT Rider maps
Thanks Syd, Dave sorted me out with a set of their excellent maps. I like to ride small dirt roads up in the mountains. What I find is that phone based maps require you to zoom in excessively to find those small trails. I like to use the GT Rider maps to discover where the trails are, then plot my route onto Google maps on my tablet. I recommend GT Rider maps to anyone who likes to get off the beaten track.
