"...The fact that you didn't pay her for her services because she wasn't working there, with everyone knowing her and having "respect" for her tells me that she is a freelancer that used to work at the bar, and now has a few other farangs on a leash sending her money...."
Came here to say just this. The only reason the other girls "respect" her is she has grabbed the brass ring they aspire to have, sponsors back in farang land send them money every month.
Others have confirmed free health care for Thais and I can attest best private hospitals will only charge 50,000BHT for private room baby delivery/stay.
Don't do anything, or send another dime, until you confirm without a doubt your dna is running through the baby's veins. The princess will probably disappear soon as you say this is how it is and that will be your answer.
If there is any doubt, there is no doubt. (not mine, but nothing truer has ever been spoken concerning ladies of old Siam)

Both the German and Russian governments have had leaked studies on COVID carried out and their conclusions were that COVID is far less dangerous and contagious than the flu and has a far better recovery rate than flu. So why do I have to look at my wife and kids through plexlass like a criminal? I have boycotted all places that use anti-social distancing and use plexiglass on tables. Restaurants should be allowed to choose whether to impose rules or not and let customers decide if they wish to use a restaurant or club that imposes rules or not. That would be the same as a non-smoker going into a club or bar where people smoke. They know it is a risk but they accept the risk or not. You could do that with all manner of businesses and let the intelligent, informed, non- fearing citizens make their own choices. Same with planes. I will not travel by an airline that imposes rediculous restrictions on their paying customers. Let them go bankrupt.
I concur with all you state. And history will show this whole thing for the fiasco it is and has been through out the world.
However, your suggested actions will never happen. We are reduced to the lowest denominator. If some one expresses a fear it is not fair you do not share the same fear, so we must all recognize and respond as the fearful in order to achieve fairness. Only then can we live a happy and secure life.

History will show this world economic shut down to be the single biggest folly ever perpetuated on the population.
We are right now living through what future generations will ask "what the he!! were they thinking?"

I went through this process 3 times.
You do need to complete the section in the application for times you were out of US but they can't check thoroughly as they will only have the application 15 minutes before the interview so a "close" estimate is probably fine. One thing that is very important is proof you were living in US for minimum of 5 years. This is little tuff as how do you prove you were in US for 5 years. I used college transcript. You may be able to use military records records.
The hardest part is getting everything in the package they ask and going into the embassy from Udon. If you can check all the checklist boxes the interview is or was for us fairly easy.
Good luck!

Well, I think we can all agreed the entire situation is a nightmare, not only for those of us with families but also immigration that can only enforce law written by the government. Or should I say their individual interpretation of the written law.......????
Here is to hoping through all these trials the powers that be see what a screwed up mess they have created and find a way to make it simpler and evenly applied to accommodate us all.
Key thought there is hope, because there is absolutely nothing more I can do. I do know complaining will not help me nor influence the powers that be because they don't care what I think.

I asked wife about getting, of course she knew nothing but says 'I ask Father.' Couple days later she out of blue says 'Father say yellow book for you good idea.' So she and FIL went down to amphur, asked around, figured out what was needed.
I took my passport to town for a translation. Few days later with translation in hand and whatever she learned was needed, we all go down to amphur, village honcho and his deputy met us there. I sat in chair holding baby for about 30 minute while all the others were attending to business at the counter (we were only ones there). After about 30 min they call me to counter, signature couple times and wife says 'finish Tilak' so out the front door we all go. In car I ask what's up she says 'finish, come back 2 week pick up yellow book.' So that was it. Went back, they ask wife to read all to insure correct. Then ask her if I want ID card. We say sure so step to next window for photo, wait 15 minutes and out door with yellow book and pink ID.
I say mine was really easy, but I have no idea what FIL, wife and village honcho had to do for my successful result.
And ignore the grumpy "it's useless" crowd. I don't have to go to immigration to get address validation. That alone is worth effort for me.
YMMV

1 hour ago, Pib said:OP, the requirement to show Bt800K in the bank or a Bt65K/month transferred to obtain renewal of person's extension of stay is a Thai Immigration/government requirement; not US govt requirement.
A U.S. person only needs to submit an annual FBAR if having over $10K in a foreign bank at any point during the year....even for a minute. But your friend does not do that.
For him to transfer Bt65K/month will not create any tax liability for him by the US govt or Thai govt with the exception of reporting interest earned on his tax return if his income is enough to require a tax return. And since he's not keeping more than $10K in Thailand no annual FBAR is required.
This is the correct answer.
It is a rule to "fight terrorism." If any overseas account exceeds $10k go on line and make report, it takes 5 minute or less. They are only looking for unaccountable funds i.e. you don't have record where it originates. As long as it is a transfer from US no worries. And if account never crosses the $10k barrier no worries, forget bout it.

US now has online notary services.
I used one couple years ago and it was excepted with no question. Had to do video conference and he photoed me with passport. First I had heard of it but worked, so good to go for as I am concerned. May be option for OP.

Geez, guy, as long as you are in hotel you may be better off to relocate to a open, free state like South Dakota and not live under such archaic conditions.

Just posting the same...............like to know where these high yield accounts for that amount are........
I've heard guys posting about these "high interest" accounts for years. I can't find'em. I have a substantial amount of cash right now and get about $5 USD per month interest. I wouldn't let that be reason not to put my cash in Thai bank. There may be other reasons, but not interest yield.
YMMV

Maybe I should do a 3,000 baht test transfer first just to make sure.
Falc, Transferwise is the way to go. It takes few minutes to set up your account in the app but after that it is the most effortless, easy transfer means I have ever used. And there is a drop down will ask you for reason for transfer of funds, if you click long stay in Thailand, or words to that effect it will show up as international transfer. It is actually too easy not to use transferwise.
But again YMMV

My Mrs. uses Lazada pretty regularly. But she will only use the cash on delivery vendors and will not hesitate to refuse delivery if item is not as she thinks it should be.
Once I tried to get her to purchase item for me from vendor that did not have the cash option. She says "Tilak, this Thailand. Can not believe shop send if have money first." She hasn't been taken yet, so I don't argue.

I love amazon! And will support them enthusiastically.
Deliveries seem to be be slowed but understandable with current limitations of travel. But man it really enriches one's life to receive things he does not need, merely wants.......

Just to back up Phulublub. The report does say that the airport will be 'ready' for normal ops on May 1st. There is nowhere in the report that says 'normal ops will start on May 1st.'
There is plenty of info regarding what flights will be allowed and what flights will not.
May 1st is when restrictions will be lifted for DOMESTIC flights. Except for repatriation, in the main, international passenger flights remain banned.
Yes. There is a huge difference in 'airport open for business' and 'all international flights will resume as normal'. The airport can be open 6 months and no flights arrive. "But we have done our part......"
It reads kinda like that permanent residency story that ran week or so ago. Sounded all new and flashy, until you realize there is no change to a program that has existed for decades.

Thanks for all those suggestions about transferwise,
I have never transferred money before.
Would be sending from Nationwide UK to KBank here and would use debit card to debit card accounts.
Will leave to Monday as no holidays in either country. As others have state, Transferwise is hard to beat.
It takes a little patience to set up first time, but after that works smooth as silk and just few seconds to do transfer on your phone app.
YMMV

Go get the most expensive, well connected lawyer you can afford and give it a shot.
All they can do is take your money and say no after few years jumping through hoops.

I think it's crazy to come to Thailand for holiday now, travel insurance companies have stopped cover that's how uncertain it is
Actually, it is crazy to travel anywhere now. The world is going crazy and changing every 24 hours. There is no way to know what the situation will be upon landing at destination or even mid-point layover for that matter.
But I am just skeptical that way. I am sure all you guys will be fine......

I got 3 at Robinson's.
They have very high priced and very cheap. I didn't get the cheapest but what I thought was safe without being most expensive as well.
I am only one uses them. Wife and inlaws don't bother if I am not in country. Little scary but I can't dwell on it....
