  1. ok 2 more questions now we know it is edible

    1. can you eat it raw? ie there are no poisonous things that need to be cooked out? dont have a cooker so i eat everything raw or precooked elsewhere.

    2. what is it good for ? you know how many things we eat have a beneficial factor for certain ailments and thais seem to have this knowledge. mostly now i eat things more for this reason than for taste. but they still taste nice anyhow.

Not poisonous, I have tried the leaves raw.... nothing to get overly excited about in the taste... but I guess has the goodness of a green veggie! So should be OK as a salad green.

But not as sickly tasting, as some of the leaves the Thais cook! the prickly shrub/ tree with pinnate foliage the use the leaves of comes to mind ...bah.gif

You could pour boiling hot water over them, they would cook by doing that! .... Can you do that, if you want it cooked?

ok thanks. have thought of buying one of those boiling sticks but cant justify the weight. pre-boiled eggs from seven are more convenient. perhaps their is a seven around that has boiling water but cant see any recommendation so far to sample this plant.

dont know the prickly shrub. vaguely recall seeing something like that though have never eaten it. if the thai are eating it as mention perhaps it has some other beneficial properties so taste is not so important. we all know thais addiction to aroi.

  2. I am pretty sure quads are not street legal here in Thailand, although you do see many on the road up here in Isaan anyway thanks for the informative write up, sounds like the faults are all from Thailand during assembly. Keep us updated.

was wondering about street legal anyone know for sure?

wont be getting one if they arent.

few golf buggies used as transport where i am but havent seen any quads. some of the vehicles look like out of a madmax movie, real assortments, panels, windows optional . do it yourself vehicle construction jobs frequent

  3. Sathorn Road on the left about 300 meters away from Banyan Tree you have a high wall with only cameras. This operation is run by both the Thai's and American's and this building has been operational since the Vietnam War. I wonder why it never got shut down. I have those details from the Singapore Embassy which is only a few hundred meters away.

perhaps they know something about this http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/782044-swedish-found-hanged-in-deserted-building/?p=8768520

  4. When I lived in HuaHin a Thai I went out for a sailing lesson. When I jokingly asked if there were any dangerous fish in the waters he told me about Chaam this time of year as some species of stingray come into the shallows to mate.

I dont remember hearing any warnings about it on the beach but he said the local fishermen know when to wear wellies in the shallow water. I dont know how dangerous the fish were but an elderly person is always at a higher risk from stings.

more likely jellyfish. they have killer ones here and they have killed people in chaam beach area in the past. death usually occurs accompanied by lots of screaming in such cases. their sting is painful as well as deadly. any freshwater outlets to the beach make it more attractive to them.

  7. @OP

Buy a bicycle, even cheaper than the bus, unlimited routes and runs 24/7.

you haven't factored additional polluted air intake from all that exertion and the cost of the resultant health issues not to mention collisions with the asphalt

in bkk i take the buses, free, not free, and airconditioned which ever is going the right way first. skytrain if i have to venture through siam parking lot or skhumvit parking lot.

  8. The Meller's chameleon is the largest of the chameleons not native to Madagascar. Their stout bodies can grow to be up to two feet (two-thirds of a meter) long and weigh more than a pound (one-half kilogram).

  9. R.I.P..... now the umbrellas, deck chairs and assorted paraphernalia have gone, at least someone could find him on the sand....

must be a recent development. was there early september and still had the sand covered completely then. dont think the picture is chaam dont recall those large building there, but wasnt specifically looking.

The buildings are Springfield Condos and the Grand Condotel. The photo is taken from the south looking North. Yes, the umbrellas are still here unfortunately.

ok see it now, the photo is taken from well south of what i consider to be chaam beach where the beach adornments are..

closer to main chaam beach looking north you wouldnt see those condos so had me misled.
