  1. Won't affect genuine tourists, who come for holidays, then go home but will affect those attempting to live here all year round on free entries, who pose as tourists.
  2. Almost as long as those fumbling through 1,2- and 5-baht coins to amass the total.......................
  3. I have heard from a couple of people, who's accounts were locked due to 12 months of inactivity, being unable to have them activated again, without a 12-month visa. In saying that, these examples are from one particular bank, others may be more flexible.
  4. If you hold a long stay visa, certificate of residence along with confirmation of SIM registration to you from your phone company, you should be able to open an account at another bank of your choice.
  5. SCB hasn't had web access for a while now, its access via phone app only, so not sure where you were trying to log in to from your laptop? I have the EZ account (monthly interest) and find them great, that they can generate both a 12-month statement and confirmation letter for immigration purposes, on the spot.
  6. I believe that when your balance drops below 2000 THB, the account starts to incur service fees, those fees increase again, once the account balance drops below 1000B. Once fees have eroded the account to a zero balance, that account is then closed. Once closed; in order to open a new one, you must visit a branch with a minimum 12-month visa and likely have to provide a certificate of residence, depending on specific bank requirements.
  7. When I set up my SCB app in branch, I had to switch to data, not Wi-Fi, so you could try that first, however I suspect it has to be from a Thai number, maybe enable roaming from your Thai number if your current data won't work?
  8. I got the same message from Krungsri then called AIS who confirmed the same name and Passport details, Krungsri has, then suggested I call Krungsri, their answer, go to AIS and get a certificate confirming the name and number matches, then take that to a branch. Not convinced this is what's required when nothing needs to change and like you, I suspect the same message may have gone to everyone, maybe not all in one day.
  9. I find the new version works well, however I'm not comfortable using it due to now decreased font size for everything except the key pad. I have emailed them with my concern and for now using another banks app.
  10. I've had it happen 3 times both in CNX and Vietnam, in each case they added a small amount in "other", hoping it would stay below the radar, as I have payment linked to a debit card but by doing that, "other" is shown as a separate charge. In all 3 cases I reported as a problem via the app and all 3 amounts were credited. The reply itself took around 10 days, but you can check on the app it will show as in progress or completed. I must point out, these charges were very isolated, only 3 in 100s of rides and driver initiated, not Grab policy....
  11. Just cancel, using driver requested you to cancel option and you won't be charged, that way you can rebook in a timely manner to get on with your journey and if still aggrieved, you can report the original driver later.............
  12. I have the same account, went to SCB, they printed a 12-month statement along with a verification of balance letter, whilst I waited. These along with photocopies front and back of the E passbook cover, were accepted.
  13. I don't want to attach the card to another wallet or payment system but thanks for your suggested work around. The current issue involves a small purchase, which if I can't use the credit card, I'll use a debit card or pay with Prompt pay QR. I still believe the issue is with 2c2ps system, as it appears they aren't generating a OTP. Also read on Tripadvisor, some similar comments from others, yet to see a direct solution...........
  14. In trying to make an online payment through this gateway with an Australian credit card, I get a pop up to send a OTP to verify the transaction and the OTP never arrives..... This is specific to 3rd party notifications, not the bank itself, where I receive OTPs without issue to the same number. The bank has no record of the attempted purchase, further suggesting it's at 2c2ps end. I have spoken with my phone provider and there are no blocked SMSs directed to my number.... Has anyone from experience, had the same problem, followed by a solution? (please no theoretical solutions, I think I've heard them all) The issuing bank have triple checked everything at their end and the card does work, 2c2p just sent me a copy and pasted message that's been around for years, suggesting it's a bank problem........ Cheers
  15. If you submit your own form with a photo, you won't be charged an additional 200 baht, it's a service they provide for those without a photo and prefilled TM8.
  16. Has anybody recently obtained a reentry permit at Don Muang and if so, was the waiting time reasonable and do they offer a service, where no forms or photo are required, as they do at Suvarnabhumi? Thank you.
  17. On arrival back to Thailand, present your new passport, with your old one, mentioning your re entry permit is in the old one, the officer will view both passports and your entry stamp will be in your new one.. I have done this.... I recommend visiting your immigration office as soon as possible to have your extension and re entry stamps transferred to your new passport.
  18. As others have mentioned, you will need to wait until you have 45 days or under left on your current visa before you can apply. You will need two copies of the application form applicable (TM 86 or TM 87) You may or may not be asked for proof that your seasoned funds came from abroad, if not already shown as FTT entries TM30 will also be required.
  19. Guess a lot comes down to your history, not the break in between, maybe he doesn't think you are a tourist, based on past accumulated days here maybe?
  20. Interest is paid monthly to this account, I have one. Mee Tae Dai Savings | Bank of Ayudhya (krungsri.com)
  21. End of the day, the bank statement and letter of balance confirms what you have in your account, that may or may not include a passbook. Eliminating the need for passbooks, looks to me like the way of future banking, except in regard to SCB, they have implemented it ahead of others.
  22. I did and also noticed your question followed by a question mark, hence my reply.
  23. Well, for the extra interest, given the account is accepted by more than one immigration office, including mine..........
  24. According to a number of replies, this type of account is accepted, including at Chiang Mai where Ill extend, so to answer your 2nd question "both" so win win........
  25. 1.5% interest as opposed to 0.9% with my current passbook account, one reason. Also, others have mentioned they use this type of account for immigration purposes, so, just waiting for someone who actually knows the answer, to comment, rather than a question answered with another question. The answer could be as simple as printing the app screenshot on the day and submitting with a 12-month statement?
