  1. thats right, they make up the law as they go and judges were asking for bribes so where is their integrity? they have none except a big chip on their shoulder and should end this barbaric act and all the palava around it and get on with running their country.

I know they are guilty, and the law is the law, but can't help but feel sorry for those 2 Aussies especially considering the Bali bombing mastermind is now free after a couple years jail. Its pathetic.

  2. I am not sure but I may have lost my taste buds. When I make a Thai red curry, I put in no less than 15 whole chillies (Dish lasts two days and I do let it simmer for a good hour to let the full flavour set in), sometimes I seed them other times don't bother, and then cut the ends off. I find this spicy but definitely palatable and do not need a long excruciating time to finish a meal. I think its best to be "Honest" and chop up the chilli, probably better to seed it, of course then wash it and you have true taste rather than "Surprises" if you happen to bite into one of the whole chillies. In any case, I think life is not worth living without chillies, fish sauce, ginger, garlic, co-co nut milk, rice, beer and a damn good screw.

  3. When I taught I was thinking of doing a TEFL I have a degree anyway but I thought to get an extra qualification. They wanted something like $40k and I thought for what? One of the guys co-teaching with me didn't have a degree but had TEFL did not have any better ideas than me when it came to lesson planning so I thought what a complete waste of f'ing money and that goes for CELTA and all those other BS quals. I did quite fine thank you, school liked me and also part time work. Honestly I don't think you even need an education degree. I think the minimum should just be a university degree and a willingness to make a difference and be innovative and I will tell this to any school I go to if I decide to do this gig again. I really miss Thailand sometimes but the thought of living under a military dictatorship is not appealing.

  4. Is this day one of a new world? They seem to be hitting the reset button with a new rule every day. How about some laws? and heavy penalties for non compliance? So example taxi does not pick up, police don't issue fine instead take bribe, bad service continues and consolidated revenue takes a hit. The t shirt vendor on their hands and knees to the other vendor not to copy their shirt, how about some laws where you can sue for this? - Are they at the stone age here. What will tomorrow be, "Don't pee in the street use a toilet"?

  5. They are getting a bad rap and bad service is rife. I know that legally they had no obligation but when I cancelled my flight from Surabaya just after this tragic event and went from Jakarta instead, explained that I was scared to fly from Surabaya with all the commotion and really a "city of death"; I just got the standard response absolutely no empathy shown whatsoever. I'll show the same when I take my next trip.

  6. Boot on the other foot. How does it feel Thais when you just cant do what you like just like your elite does to you and you have to leave your country for a better life? Except in Japan and other civilized countries its all within the law, no bribes and all above board. Don't you get sick of living hand to mouth, living in repression? Don't you want better lives in your OWN country? then get off your arse and bloody do something about it!!!!
