What to do if Thai police stop you and attempt a ‘shake-down’
SiSePuede419 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yup, the same in every country with underpaid cops seeking to "supplement" their income ???? When I went on a windsurfing vacation in the Baja California, as soon as I crossed the border in Tijuana, a motorcycle cop pulled me over. First he said I shouldn't drink coffee while driving. Then he said I had too much cargo in the back of the hatchback and couldn't see out the back window. I had already given him my driver's license and made the mistake of telling him I wouldn't pay a "mordida" (slang word for bribe, literally means a little bite) he winced and told me to follow him down to the police station in my car. At the station I asked to speak with the "El Jefe" (male boss) and they corrected me "La Jefe" (female boss). I think she asked for a $50 fine, which I negotiated down to $20, saying the offense wasn't illegal in America because I have rear view mirrors on each side of the car. Could have probably gave the original cop a $10 bribe and it would have saved over an hour spent at the police station, plus saved me $10. THE END. ???? -

Successful, Rich "Poo Yai" Thai Immigrant...who is not a Virologist SME* nor even a Medical Doctor (only a high school degree)... Has an opinion. ???? *If you're smart enough to be a SME in Virology, then you're smart enough to know what 'SME' means -
I knew a cat called Wayout Willy. Willy had an accident. Ooops! See Willy's blood flow! Willy is a hard worker. Willy helps out with all the household chores. Willychores. Willy collects bottles dumped on the roadside and other trash to sell. Willy pays utilities with money! Everyone in the village knows Willy. Doing that crazy hand jive.

That's not "nothing" that's a third of an inch and a trip hazard. Was it painted bright yellow or orange or was it the same color as the rest of the floor/sidewalk/walkway? Bad example. No one should be wantonly "walking" around on a balcony with a low (below waist) safety rail. Standing, yes. Carefully and slowly moving. Walking, no. ???? Even I was smart enough at Chase Center in San Francisco to move far away from the transparent glass barrier on the balcony between the seats and a huge fall, in which two people the following night after my event experienced. "Safety Hazard". C'mon. Use a little common sense.
