I cannot understand that hotel address not being accepted.I have made at least 100 cash advances for miniumn $1000 over the years name and room number of hotel no problems they love to give you money on that Mastercard. Also I opened up an account at the Green Bank,Pattaya Klang, took me 10 minutes, only needed passport and room number at hotel, said they would contact me in a few hours.I heard nothing so I thought it is not easy to open a bank account here.3 days later I went to the bank and said I have not heard about my account. They said email address I had given them was wrong. It was I had forgot to put in 3 digits.Got that right 1 hour later I got a text from the bank account was up and running.I have transfered money from Australia many times no problems

My son went to Thailand on a one way ticket no problems. Was going to get visa for his finacee, and they would come back together.Visa took longer than he thought he had to go back to work so he bought a ticket and came back to Australia.I left Australia and went to this fiancees village.3 days later she got the call visa she be picked up in Pattaya but I had to tell her sorry I have got 27 days to go I am not coming to LOS for 3 days.No problems Papa we go together I am scared to go on my own in plane

If you have a Mastercard go to the bank and tell them you want to increase limit for a couple of weeks they will help only to happy to take your money in interest

I have read your post and I do not think you have said how long he wants to go for only he wants to go for Songkran. That could be 3 days.If he is coming on a Canadian passport be gets 30 days on arrival.Do not go near Embassys or alert authorites and ask for advice that is the worse thing you can do just fill out the card you get on the plane and go to immigration they will let him in.If he wants more than 30 days sorry I cannot help you

Find connection for example the senior police in that area ask him visit your shop or send the police to stop by , it is hard to stand alone in that situation . If cannot may be think about relocate .
You pay they will

Get the police back.Ask if they know anyone that can help. Will cost a few baht your problem will go away

Have to agree - stupid money for internet.
50Mbps for 2,799pm with True DOCSIS with almost bombproof reliability . . . so far
I think you'll find that the guy who quoted 6,500 Baht per month actually meant 650 per month. No company in Thailand charges 6500.
I chatted with a TOT guy about the 50Mbps option. He reckoned that most computers can only handle up to about 20-30Mbps.
I think that should be 6500 baht a year

Thanks guys. Interesting information. You would think they would temp you to give your winnings back to them with nightclubs and shows, but I guess even casinos are different over here. I've only been to one casino in my life, so I it might be fun just to check it out.
Any suggestions or warnings?
Your passport belongs in a hotel-safe. What you carry on you is a COPY of your passport. If some "official", wearing a uniform and wanting to see the original, take him to the hotel and let him have a look at it. 99% chance he looses the urge to see your passport immediately, him assuming that your PP is clean and no chance for him to extract any sort of "Tea-Money".
If you carry your PP on you and you "loose it" somewhere in no-mans land between Aranyaphratet and Poipet, you will be in big trouble.
Cheers.
I agree with that Sir

I would advise stop making plans for down the road 2 or 3 years, do what is easiest for you at the moment. The o multiply entry is a good one if you can get it you can find all of the info for the Portland office on line and call her and ask what she needs, she has always been very helpful. With the multiply entry you will need to make a border run every 90 days.
Remember things can change quickly here and if you are on a non-o it can be used to work or for education until you figure out what you will do.
I agree with you in toto Sir

I have been " offered " a retirement visa for 22k baht. No need for the 800k in the bank. Just need to open a bank account ( I was told which one but have forgotten which one it was in Jomtien as I haven't taken up the offer ) with 500 baht then give the savings account book to the appropriate person, 2 days later ret. visa done, hand over 22k, bye bye 'til next year, job done.
Some is making a few baht, should be 12k

most people who would have a house for rent probably can't read English and are not members of this forum. You would do better going there and having a look see and check things out in person.
Thank you Sir,I was just hoping when I posted their might be an expat that read my post with a thai wife etc,
Thank you
