There is an unseen, but established hierarchy on Thai roads. In order of importance are....... Hi-so Drivers in expensive cars are at the top, next comes your average car owner along with delivery trucks / pick ups, then come the motorbikes, along with their various additions, after that there are the pushbikes, and finally, you, the pedestrian, at the bottom of the pecking order. Lorries and buses can be placed anywhere in the group depending how rich the owners are. In the countryside Buffalo and Cows are at the top.

Absolutely spot on. This is why I ride my motorbike! While walking I am invisible to vehicle drivers!

No, Vietnam is definately not a nightlife kind of place - I don't think anywhere. The holiday island of phu quoc might be an exception. but I've never been there. It seems popular though. Been to Hanoi, HCMC many times and also to Da Nang and Hoi An. I didn't really like HCMC either.

You visited all those places in Vietnam and found no nightlife? I saw LOTS.. . not Hoi An though.

What is your definition of nightlife?

Why move to another country and wait 10 years hoping the natives will change their ways, and behave the way YOU want them to behave?

Just remember, you chose Thailand, Thailand didn't choose you.

P.S. I assume your username is meant to be irony? You don't sound like a happy camper 🙂

You reply is absolutely ridiculous. You know nada ✌️

Or have the Thais been spoiled by the easy money

This! We know that this are terrible at managing their money... and I think they feel the gravy train will just go on and on. They should seriously consider some major changes, especially a shift in attitude. In the past when things get tough they just increase prices with zero added value.

Very little effort has been put out on their part. Here in Hua hin.. Most Thai girls STILL scream out "massage" after standing there for 10 years! It's annoying. I wish one day a waitress would enquire "is everything OK" about 5 minutes after they serve my meal. Once in 10 years that's happened.

Thailand thinks it's the greatest country on the planet and us expats and tourists should be grateful for what we receive.

  5. Viet people are much more friendly... Curious and warm. Thai are increasingly.. angry and have lost their smile.

Thailand hasn't even tried to keep up on the service front... prices are higher and poor service and bad attitude is becoming the current trend.

Thai show very little gratitude. I assumed after covid that they would be kinder and more grateful. Fk me I was so wrong 555

Thailand is still good value but I want more than a cheap plate of food served user a tin roof. In Da Nang that similar plate of food is served in a real building with nice decor and comfy seats... Close to the beach.. For the same price! Served by locals who are fun and engaging! I feel welcome in Da Nang.

  6. The Yamaha dealership here in Krabi is refusing to honor the bikes warranty.

Because I didn't buy the bike there....thstd their reason. What?

I checked before buying that Yamaha allows the bike warranty to be transferred. Fine. Great. I bought it on the premise

But because I didn't buy at this dealer AND I dint have the service record book.. The warranty is VOID... because I have no proof that the bike was maintained beforehand.

    Damn.

  7. Good morning! My 2023 Nmax with only 7k km starts just fine first thing in the morning. But moving is another story

A huge shuddering occurs before the bike starts to move... Then everything is fine. Until I stop... Then.. Shuddering again.

It feels exactly like a manual clutch in a car that's not engaging correctly

I took it to the Yamaha dealer today but they are too busy. Come back tomorrow

A comment the dealer made was that he's seen this problem before with fat men. Thai directness 555. I'm 187 cm and 105 kg. Is this cause legit?

Can the belt.. CVT?.. can it be adjusted? Or new normally needed?

EDIT.. but when the bike is normal temperature everything is smooth again on take off.

We are blessed in Thailand that we can get cheap blood tests at labs in most provinces without doctors referrals.

If you want to check for Haemochromatosis you can go to a local lab (Krabi - https://maps.app.goo.gl/F4ZrRouz9fCbXwSL9 )

Request a Ferritin test. It should be around 500 baht. If this is in range then it's unlikely you have Haemochromatosis and are loading Iron.

If it is high I would then ask for Serum Iron and TIBC tests (about 500 baht each also). from these 2 tests you can calculate your Transferrin Saturation (TSAT) by Serum Iron / TIBC × 100 = TSAT

With high Ferritin alone it's worth taking the results to a Haemotoligist. However if the Serum Iron and calculated TSAT are also high then it's a stronger indicator.

If the Doctor suspects it they should take some blood and send it to Mahidol University genetics lab in Bangkok for DNA testing to confirm it (This test is more expensive).

Of course you can just go to to the Hospital in the first step but you will pay inflated prices for the same tests and have to convince the doctor to do it in the first place. I have had good experience with Haemotoligists in Bumrungrad and Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and terrible experience with the one available person in the whole of Phuket.

Yes I agree... even at 74 years old my only engagement with Healthcare professionals is just to visit the blood lab each year. Lucky me.

However this high iron thingy is worth checking out... I'll do that first test and go from there. Thanks

    Haemochromatosis

Really interesting. I had never heard of this condition! So.. Too much iron. I have ALL the symptoms too! 🤦🏻😂😂

Are those iron blood tests available in Thailand? Bkk maybe. But I live in Krabi. Thry also sound expensive... Yes?

  10. Yikes! I'm surprised how quiet this forum is. No expats living in Krabi? Or they simply disappeared off the internet...

    I digress..

If I returned to live in Krabi... I remember that immigration was easy to deal with.

However I will need a visa agent. The creative type. Do they exist? Or immigration there is OK with a renewal in Pattaya?
