you mentioned earlier you could get anyone off with overstay regardless of the length of time for 35000 baht at the Malaysian border, if that is the case then why can't you sort a proper visa or permission to stay for yourself?

i am on Non O visa based on my marriage, with work permit.....which kind of proper visa should i apply for?

if he has already been here for 9 years, chances are that if he sees the new issues with thai immig, he would just opt to continue his stay

At this point i agree with you.....i know personally a dutch man that lives here in overstay situation for 17 years...

  4. Its quite easy to hide in the jungle, if you like this kind of life and you are ready to never see again your homecountry and maybe friends or relatives over there.

Twice i try to travel to Chang Mai to Phuket, once by bus and one using plane: i was never asked for my passport, and when they asked for an ID, driver license was totally enough

Unless the OP made a wind up surely the "friend" is broke with no way  to buy his way out of this  overstay. Thailand is a big country with many out of the way villages  there are many more on long overstays doing just fine with helpful families and local connections, staying under the radar. Foreigners get nothing from the government here, unlike illegal aliens in Western countries.

So over stayers lives their live in the jungle: even a single trip to civilization can be a risk for them?

With a quite possibly expired passport allowing entry only to his own country and having to leave via the airport where he will be blacklisted how will 35,000 baht do anything to clear his overstay.

I would love to know, others might as well.

Because i can do it..no matter what how many days you overstay, using Malaysian border

I'd suggest the guy write a book detailing how to stay under the radar for so long.  Lots of folks who don't have the juevos to post up here could probably benefit.

This is a good idea: behalf of the 9 years overstay would be great if someone that has lived or is actually in overstay, can describe is life.

  8. One more question: i got some money transferred last week: but the employee in the bank put the wrong account number: my number is 275-11-2344, but he wrote 275-111-2344....Called him yesterday he said that my bank collect my money anyway....is that true? I suppose is impossible that with wrong acc.number money can be collect by the bank....this money came from my account in Russia.
