What is your interest ?
Is it of importance that you know the detail of the overstay ?
If he overstay 89 days or 91 is a big difference.

When we have friends flying in we wait on the main road by the shops. Have our friends call when they are in the arrival hall, then we wizz round and pick them up a few minutes later in front of the terminal road.

Going to immigration may lead to IDC if the guy in charge feels like it. Why take the chance.
Get a ticket and leave.
Sort out a visa before you return. Coming straight back with an overstay stamp and asking for another 30 days visa exempt is also taking a chance.
You also right:as i told in the first comment, the best will be a border run:5 days overstay is not such a pain.In the second one,as later i remember that there is an overstay desk at every immigration, for just 5 days should be not a problem to pay the fine and get the extension. If i have to decide i will leave the country.

I agree..going to immigration will lead you only to pay the fine for the overstay. You have to go to the overstay desk first. After that you can apply for your extension.

Ian1980, I am sure many would appreciate an update as to whether the ban was in fact levied when your friend exited the country? It seems that such bans have been somewhat discretionary, at least immediately after the new regulations were implemented.
He doesn't left yet.

Elviajero said the minimum age for employment in Thailand is 15 years old (18 for some jobs). Does anyone know where one can find a listing of which jobs 15 year olds can do and which jobs you need to be 18 years old? My g/f has a soon-to-be 15 year old daughter and she has stated in the past that her daughter can not work until she is 18.
This is for thai people,so they can do any kind of job. There is no minimum age to obtain a work permit(at least you should be 18).For thai people, If you are 15 years old your employer should report you to the Labour dept.If you are 18 yso no need to report.

There will be no problem at all.

New terminal security is a joke we should all be worried, turned up at the Malsayian section, bags were being put through the security scanner, meanwhile on the other side(same section) people were just walking into the section with there cases as there is no security scanner and no security staff, is that crazy or what?
You right:the baggage check is not 100% complete and secure. This is freak me out a little. The problem,at the present moment,is belong to the fact that the x ray machine are "uncompleted":i mean few of them are still out of order as the filters that allow the x ray to work are still not fixed.

Thailand is changed:is not the paradise of years ago.Now even a fake rolex is dangerous to wear.

Move out from tomorrow?Ok.Great.And move in back when?I lived in Pattaya for 11 years and i dont see whats the problem to parking the boat there?Illegaly parked? So fine them and put a daily or monthly fees for parking them.At that point,if nobody agree, they can think to move or find another solution.

Today immigration office raided a villas complex in Pattaya in Tappraya Road:fines different people that doesn't report the foreigner. But,they told me that the fines were different:between 800 to 1500 bht.Depends on what:
1)IO moods?
2)Or the fine follow how long you don't report the foreigner?

that is exactly why people should have a Insurance, because most people (always have exceptions) don't have sufficient funds to pay for a unseen higher hospital bill.
Mostly the people who tell you that they are healthy and they put some money away for this reasons. If you not have at least 1 million or even much more aside for unseen hospital bills you can end up like this.
But even when have to pay 340K, you still should try to do a visa run oder any other things.
Good for me I never had such a problem, so I also don't know what other possible way could be gone (ask Imigration...) ?
At that time,my mistake was that i even don't try to get information how to sort it out the visa problem before my visa expire.

I hear a load of old fellas up in Isaan have long overstays. They don't plan to leave the country, visa costs are too high for them so instead are keeping a low profile
There are plenty of them.Isaan its an easy place to keep a low profile.R.A. is in 21 years overstay, leaves in the country and no problem at all.

i do feel for you and i am not trying to be rude so please dont take this the wrong way. i could pay for it myself i have no family to ask, i have enough money put by for these sorts of problems and i also pay for health insurance here for sufficient cover. but again i put to you if you have a family and you have to get into an overstay situation over 340,000 baht bill maybe you should not be here. what will you do when it happens again and im sure it could do if you have a family. anyway i wish you well and good luck for the future.
I know Catman:we just share our though. Can i ask how old are you?

So this is the difference:there are rich people and normal people. There are people that can get sort out 3 milion bht bill asking help to parents or brother or sister. There are people that no have anyone that can help sort out a 340.000 thb bill....
