It's easy to form negative impressions of Thais in general. The easiest thing to dislike about them is that they don't live in an authentic experience with others. They are generally deceitful in all aspects of their relationships. To the outsider, this is not understandable. The foreigner or expat also has a negative view of Thais for their lack of responsibility and commitment. They reneg on business deals and personal promises. They manipulate the facts to suit their self absorbed interests. Thais don't read, they are not interested in classical art, music or world history.
Thais generally have little or no awareness of western culture. They live in a total state of denial about their society and its reality. They have little or no intellectual curiosity or passion about much. They have little work ethic and their sense of value is most limited to material things and money. Just look at the way Thais splay out money at any event. Random acts of truthfulness and honesty are big news in the Thai press. Thais love secrecy, exclusion, and opaqueness in society, business, and life in general. Thais rarely if ever take responsibility and never say I'm sorry, I made a mistake. When expats get together, it's easy to complain about Thais because something has always just happened that has them shaking their heads about Thais. Expats who don't complain about Thais are living in the same false reality and unauthentic life experience. Expats who never complain about Thais or Thailand are being deceitful to themselves or they've become Thai thinking in a land where Thais will never accept them for who they really are.

On a sidenote, yes i have seen them stockpiling the chocolate and seemingly medicine at Boots as well,
What baffles me is the YOGURT ADDICTION!!! What the...??? I knew thais like soymilk and all but whats
the deal???? I was eating a chinese thai spot and now they are selling the stuff--every 7-11 i go into is
full of chinese getting sim cards---beer--mama cup as YEP__YOGURT...i see em scarfing it down and
clearing the shelves....even saw one gal spponing down on the back of a mbike today---
I feel bad for the 7-11 staff--esp on Nimman!!! alt=facepalm.gif>
The Chinese tend to buy up any milk products. There has been a general distrust of milk products since the milk powder episode. A friend of a friend actually ships it from UK to China direct to consumers (something like Chinese ebay). It's a side business for her.
In Macau the baby milk powder is often kept in locked cabinets.
Very difficult to buy Milk in China unless you are in a major city, We used to get the powdered milk and I ended up with Kidney stones about 2008 when the Melamine in Milk scandal was exposed. Also had both the corneas in each eye burned due to being sold "Copy" shampoo with extra Alkaline apparently. Its a lovely place to live
I see--thanks--i just sat on nimman tonite--watching them assault the little medicine man outside
the pharm next to salad concept---a father open handed his kid for climbing on it!!!

for the spicy scam.....lost my crappy flip phone..wondered why the dude walked
all the way from the other end of the alley as i was "occupied"..yep..the handoff
I did catch on and had a high speed chase with the gal as she ran into 7-11 to spend my 100 baht
where i then took all of her sh1t from her bike basket and trashed it later....ahh the sald days
I now tether my phone to my pants---also cable clip my keys.....as far as the mbike--it could be
mine..they got that too years ago......at least ive learned from my lessons....amazing thailand!
