When i went past the room in the morning, there were literally 15 indians guys all sleeping in that one room. Most of them on the floor with a blanket. Crazy how many times i have seen them share a room on such large numbers.
May be you tell reception to sort the matter out, or tell girlfriend who works in immigration about the situation

Anyone had a recent different experience at Jomtien?

Always done it the same day, letter and bank statement plus update book, first thing, as soon as bank opens.

No it's the Iranian government that is committing war crimes against the Iranian people, who also want to wipe out the Israelis while shouting out Death to America

I agree with you; Pattaya is an unrecognizable behemoth now.
No, there was no social media as there is now, but we had plenty of hard-print regular newspapers that didn't miss much, plus the mobile news channels.
Pattaya was much smaller then and easier to move around—the good old days, for lack of a better word.
As previously stated, people dressed better in the evenings and went out for dinner; they had plenty of money to spend and were an older crowd. Shorts and singlets were for the beach, not walking around the town.
I miss those days, but I am glad I was a part of them. They are well and truly gone now.
I've joined the ranks of holidaying in Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc. I don't think it's as much an age thing as the fact that Pattaya no longer has that laid-back, friendly town feel to it.
Yes back in the 90s before smartphones, most of the girls used to read those little comics, in the beer bars, looking for love.

Different government I guess, after the latest elections

In normal countries it is never a problem.. but alas Thai thinking is different. All about controlling people... tourists will be happy when they arrive Sunday
There are numerous countries who restrict alcohol sales during elections, not just Thailand if you check it out, including Turkey where you can not carry a weapon as well on election days.
Think you are just Thailand bashing.
