  1. Int'l bus does not go past consulate.

walking is easiest way once at Savanakhet bus station.

Don't worry if see Tuk Tuk with others going to right out front of bus station but you go left, they take long way round to justify the high charges :-O & approach embassy from other direction & also dump you at the overpriced visa assistance shop opposite the consulate.

The walk is 10 minutes, you will pass L-Kang hotel on your right & that about half way point between bus depo & consulate.

    Hello,

555 funny, I searched your hotel Kang hotel in Google and found this post.

So am I stupid or they do not allow online booking or do not have a website ?

Any other hotel near consulate that you can find online ?

    Thank you...

  2. Yes 5 minutes walk up the road is one on left & few guest houses around the bus station. River front is more enjoyable area but if don't plan doing much or want be in foot distance of consulate & bus station then options do exist.

You mean 5 mns from the new consulate ?

Yes of course ! ... Le Kang hotel is about 5 miutes up road then 5 minutes more you at Bus station & loads around that area if you venture down either 2 roads opposite the bus station endless choice of guest houses at all budget ranges .

So the bus station is also very close to the consulate ?

    Thank you again.

  3. Hello,

There is a duty free shop, only 1 I think (same company as the one at Nong khai border).

How much is the shuttle from Nakhon pathom to Mukdahan ? Did you book it earlier or just walk to the desk at airport ?

    Thank you.

    Hi

Just a quick update. I am back in Mukdahan with a Non O. So yippee!

Apologies, I had in mind that I would only need to take copies of my marriage certificate but the rules are actually that you need to copy front and back and they also requested to see a copy of my original. Which as I said I took anyway.

There was at least one chap who did not have his original certificate with him and he was refused a non o and I think was issued with a tourist visa instead.

Ligriff...Ubon Joe as always has already given you the info you need. He is a superstar.

For info on travel. I flew Air Asia from Bangkok to Nakhom Phanom and there is a shuttle bus from there to the border. The immigration staff at Mukdahan are very polite and the wife and I even got a lift from friendly staff at the border to the town centre!

The shuttle bus back to the airport leaves from the Riverfront Hotel a few times a day (and also from the border). The shuttle takes about 90 minutes from the airport. It is a bit tricky to time with visa issue and border run so I just plumbed for doing all the hassle today and relaxing and getting the morning flight back to Bangkok tomorrow.

P.S No duty free shop at FB2...well not that I could see. sad.png

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers

  4. Villa Pete is it a single or multi entry you got and the total cost of visa and single entry for Laos please the wife has got my head spinning here

I am sure he got a multiple entry visa. The fee for it is 5000 baht. A single is 2000 baht.

The Lao visa on arrival costs $30 to $42 dependent on what country you are from. Or you can pay 1500 baht. See: http://www.laos-guide-999.com/visa-on-arrival.html

1300 baht for visa on arrival.

  5. I went to savannaket 1 month ago and was refused a multiple entry because I did not have the original marriage certificate .

I read on this forum that they have issued them before .My marriage certificate copy was certified by the South African gov. as well as the Thai gov. but it did not make any difference. The guy at the counter only gave me a single entry but he was very arrogant telling me I can take it or leave it giving me no choice and then he tells me think about it !! Think about what? when i tell him to give me the single entry he tells me to go and stand at the back of the row. Everybody that was there was surprised at his attitude and some guys told me that they had never seen this young guy there before. So please make sure that you have the original as well.

Young chubby guy ! if so he is a known c0ck & a half. Seen problems with him every time I been there.

Main thing with Savanakhet is to do your homework & have all paperwork with you, originals copies & anything else to cover all possibilities. The Consulate is very unflexible & proper grade A thai style bad/rude service so 1 form wrong & you back of the queue ...

Plus side is if you smart & organised you get a double tourist & type o multientry based on marriage easy & cheap.

I am sorry but I really understand any consulate that is strict with rules: with all the low so poorly educated and some even retarded foreigners they see everyday, I am sure that I would not be patient with anyone also !

  6. Hello,

Have you noticed that when anybody in Thailand cleans your aircon they never clean the fan that is inside the indoor unit ?

Please try to look with a torch through your indoor unit and tell me how dirty it is ?

    Just like this ?

    http://www.airconspecialists.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Dirty-Indoor-unit.jpg

    They should do that:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D03-DYR9QQ

but they never do it and do only this (water on coil):

I just noticed how dirty is the fan of my aircons when actually the guys came few weeks ago...

    Please confirm ?

  7. The strike-through rate is actually also set by the hotel - it is a 'default' room rate set during the initial sign-up process for hotels. It is not a 'real' rate and (AFAIR), is not easily changed from the YCS4 dashboard in the Agoda management website.

As for C&N not being on Agoda, that may be because Agoda commission rates are quite high and C&B can fill their rooms with bookings from other travel websites.

Agoda is part of the Priceline group, as is Booking.com. My own hotels are registered with both travel websites, but I much prefer to obtain guest bookings from Booking.com, where the commission rate that I pay is lower.

Hotels have to maintain rate parity, meaning that they must offer the same room rate on all travel websites. But they can offer a different rate on their own hotel website.

What about Asiarooms ? Is it dead since the Pattaya guy sold it to the big US company ?

I wonder why everybody seems to use Agoda and booking but no more Asiarooms ?

Can you also list your hotels on Asiarooms just like any other website ?

  8. I can't speak for Thailand to US but I can for UK to US and its a massive slowdown over the last 30 days. I have sent over 80 packages during that time and never before have I had to deal with so many delivery queries. Some of it can be put down to the weather, snow delayed a lot of flights, not however to slow it down to this degree. Could be worse I guess, packages to Australia take 4-5 days to get there and 4-5 weeks to clear customs.

And no official explanation from USPS...
