  1. Thais have a hard time ever lowering the price of anything can sit for a while, life condos, land, and alcohol. They would rather hike the price to try and make up lost revenue. It's the Thai way. Some golf courses have realized that an unused course is negative revenue and lately have lowered their prices, but they are the only ones that I've seen that understand what the airlines have known for years: that an empty seat is lost revenue.

  2. What happened to all those ultra wealthy tourists? The ones that like a beer with lunch, a glass of wine with dinner, a massage with a happy ending, and competitive boutique pricing like they have in Singapore. Actually everything like they have in Singapore. here you get no alcohol, 9pm curfew, heavy traffic, lack of adequate mass transit. broken sidewalks when you can find one while dodging motorbikes and lots of places that don't take credit cards. As a tourist of any kind, a smile on the face of local and a wai just won't cut it.

  3. Give the guy a break. He's just trying to justify his salary and brown envelope donations. Just because he's stupid doesn't mean he's a good person. I guess restaurants will just look the other way since they have to try and make up for the losses this guy has put on them. Or people under 50 who aren't pregnant and can't get the nonexistent vaccines are just going to eat on the go. Just another typical day in the land of stupid.

  4. Another worthless proclamation. Just figure that sometime next year they'll be getting around to expats. Stay safe and ride out the storm. I just wish they wouldn't restrict the ability to exercise by closing gyms, swimming pools, sport fields, tennis courts, and golf courses and driving ranges. All of which are so much safer than lifts, lines in stores and much easier to control social distances.

  5. I used to go to Makro once a week. But now I'm using a credit card more because of the favorable exchange rates without foreign exchange fees. Since prices at Makro aren't that much cheaper than if at all to Big C. I'd rather go to Big C and use a credit card. Recently Big C gave me a couple of 300 baht receipt vouchers which I used the following week with no problem. Now, about the only thing I stop a Makro for is their cheap bottled drinking water and their wheat bread. I've never understood why they have to punch the receipt before you go out. Maybe they're copying America's Costco, but they only take a cursory glance at the cart and don't bother counting the items like they do at Costco.
