Over the past year Russian buyers have been the most numerous in the Phuket property market, by far. Almost single-handedly artificially inflating the value of the market after years of languishing, particularly during the Covid pandemic.

How are they buying property? I thought foreigners could not buy land, or are they setting up corporations and buying with Thai people?

  2.  I too follow Paddy, and he has very strong legs to do all the mountain hiking he has done, but I agree with everyone else, that he was not physically ready for this bike ride. Yes, his seat was way too low, and had almost no cycling experience. I am 63 and ride about 40km a day 5 days a week, have never done super long distance but have done 90km with hills and I know how tired my body was. I ride in the morning before it gets too hot. I was actually amazed that he did as well as he did. I never would have thought a guy with basically no cycling experience could ride over 100km on his second day. I was rooting for him but had my doubts that he could accomplish his goal, maybe if he does more research and training he could try it and succeed in cooler weather and off the big roads, but I have to give him credit for attempting such a challenge.

Im actually surprised your bank sent that. Bank of America would never send me a new credit card and I need to have that sent to family in the USA. Then the family mails it to me.

Same here, I recently needed a new card and they would not send it anywhere but an American address. I had them send it to a family member who then mailed it to me. Maybe I'll try adding my Thai address and see what happens next time I need a new one.

I've had much better luck in finding some potent gummies here in Thailand.

In Hua Hin, I bought some "Froot Loops" gummy rings with 63 mg THC/gummy ring.....excellent.  Eight gummy rings so 500 mg/package for 850 thb.

Here in Chiang Mai, I just bought some "Sugar Punch" gummies with 100 mg THC/gummy....again, really good (made with Purple Hindu landrace indica, according to the package.)  Five gummies per package so 500mg/package for 850 thb.

(I cut each of the above into halfs or thirds and it's still a good buzz.)

Where in Chiang Mai did you get them?

Google Winner hobby in Chiang Mai.

    Winner hobby

    4.5(14)

Hobby store in the Nong Khwai, Thailand

I go to Winner hobby pretty often but I don't think they carry that type of stuff. I've been doing some resin casting and had been getting my silicone rubber from Rungart in Bangkok, and my urethane resin from a hobby store in Singapore, or epoxy resin from Lazada. Hope this helps Rungart does have a pretty big variety of things but you still wouldn't be able to actually see it and go buy it in a store.

I am doing my bit drinking Chang 🍺  over the festive season 🥳

Waiting for the Chang beer comments 🤔

That's my choice too, I like the new Chang "cold brew" everyone around my village drinks Singha, which is too bitter for my taste. Beer Laos and San Miquel Blanca beat the "big 3" though in my opinion.

  7. I just went through this myself, the cheap scooters are used and abused, the decent used ones are almost as much as new. I looked at a used Honda Click for 58,000 baht, and ended up buying a new Honda Giorno for 65,000 baht and they way I see it, the new one will most likely last my lifetime as I don't put that many KMs on. Unless I ride more than I expect which is possible. But overall so far I am very happy with my choice.

Get away from the city and the main highways and there are various places to ride - for example, back areas of San Sai and Doi Saket and up towards Mae Kuang Dam are relatively safe for riding.

That's my area, I can do a 40km loop from my house down 118 and around Mae Kuang dam with back roads home, or turn right at the dam entrance and there are many back roads that are a pleasure to ride on with very few cars.

All of the above comments have merit.

Coming at it from a different direction, is your idle a bit low ? if so, the added load of the A/C could be sending it lower still so it cant run smoothly.

If this is a fuel injection engine, removing & thoroughly cleaning the throttle body may well improve thing.

If its a carbureter fuel system, a tweek to the idle screw should answer the question.

I have to agree but I'm pretty sure 1997 would be fuel injected, maybe what they were telling him about "idle motor" means Idle air control motor (I.A.C.) and when the compressor comes on it's not raising the idle.

    I call B.S.

Dirt cheap rent in dirt cheap areas for a basic apartment in the U.S. is usually at least 800 dollars a month. People on low level social security often have a check of  1000 or so. Do the math.

Sure it's different if a person owns their home clear.

Also even if they do own a home, depending on what state they live in property taxes could be 500 dollars a month

Contact spiceroads.com as I believe they have an office in Chiang Mai.  They are based out of Bangkok but have done a lot of tours of all types in the Chiang Mai area.

Yes, that's the company I was thinking. Spice roads tours

  12. I remember seeing a YouTube video of a guy named Joel who is an avid cyclist that did a tour with a company. I'll try to find it and post the name, but the one he went on was long. like 100km I believe but they also had a shorter version at 60km

Live rural, 3km from town, house paid for, car paid for, eat at home. My monthly electric bill is less than 800 baht, water 60. I COULD live on less than 20000, but I don't care to.

Same here but my electric and water are higher, if not for wife spending money I could maybe do on 20,000 but as you said I don't care to live that frugal, usually close to 40,000 for me but some of that is budgeted for other possible expenses such as medical or home or car repairs.
