My GF arrived at LHR for her 2nd visit and was issued a IS 81 which is a notice to submit to further examination. She had a phone with her but was not able to tell me why she was detained. After about half an hour she phoned to say she was getting her baggage and when she came out of arrivals was able to explain that because in feb we applied for a visit visa but was refused because of lack of funds in my account even though I had provided other docs which seem to have been discarded by UK Visa's,there was a refusal stamp in her passport even though we applied again in march after transfering some dosh into my account and were successful in getting the visa.They wanted to check the validity of the visa and wanted to know why she was refused in feb.She wasn't too upset more annoyed that she had to sit and wait like an illegal immigrant while others went through.

Have a look at Massic Travel on the web,they are based in Pattaya but are normally very competative on price using any promotions by the airlines.They will also take your credit card with no problem.It would be best to speak to them by phone as thier web site is not interactive,I have used them twice with no problem.

In the UK at the moment you can get car finance at a rate of about 3% but this is a flat rate it would have an APR of nearer 6%.

An example of £10,000 loan over 36 months @ 3% would be worked out as,

£10,000 x 3% x 3years(total 9%) = £900 interest

total repayable £10,900 for 36 months = £302 -78p per month

This is how it works in the UK but there are normally documentation fees etc which are in effect extra charges by the finance co. which will increase the APR of the agreement.

Fantastic news,what a result I hope everything goes OK and wonder if they will remove the refusal stamp in the back of her passport.Whatever, you have achieved the reversal of a decision which can only inspire others to persevere when they truly believe the decision is flawed.

Same thing happened to me on our 2nd visit visa application got refused on gronds of lack of resources and without recourse to public funds.I thought my bank statements were OK with an average balance of about £900 plus I submitted a copy of my business audited accounts to show I had access to a more than adequate funds.I also supplied copies of my Nationwide account showing withdrawals in Thailand.

The copy of my business accounts (these are not bank accounts but those prepared by my accontant) were not returned by Uk Visa so therefore I don't believe they were submitted to the Embassy.

I, like you was livid but on my return to the Uk settled down transfered £3000 from my business bank account and on my return to Thailand in march submitted another application leaving out the Nationwide Account because I thought about it and felt it might confuse and we were sucessful she arrives in the UK next week.

I am still annoyed about the refusal stamp in her passport but from what you say you showed enough funds but were those bank statements from Halifax sent to the Embassy or not.UK visa definitely sort through your paperwork and discard anything THEY feel is not relevant !!!

The place you are looking for is the Bang Sai Royal Folk and Art and Craft Centre.It is situated in Bang Sai which is close to Bang Pa In between Bangkok and Ayutthaya.You can make a good day out with a long morning visit to the Centre and a couple of hours looking around the Summer Palace at Bang Pa In.We have been a couple of times when we have visitors and it is very enjoyable.

Just booked Eva Air direct to LHR for my GF next month for 34,500 baht with Massic travel who are on 2nd road about halfway between Pattaya klang and Big C.This price included all taxes.

The cheapest air fare is with Air Asia via Kuala Lumpar but will involve an overnight stay as the flights don't connect very well.The afternoon flight gets you to KL at about 6pm and we normally get the express train connection (28 min.) into KL and visit the china town market.We stay at the Pan Pacific at the airport but I am sure you could find cheaper hotels in KL.The flight next day to Bali is about 9am.This may not suit you but the savings on air fare will pay the hotels and it gives the chance to see KL.

I did submit 6 months statements most of which had credit balances of around £1000 and I thought that would be adequate.The money is in my business account which normally runs in overdraft and I wonder if this is acceptable way of showing funds.I think better I transfer the money making sure it shows as a transfer from my business acc.

Yes it was my fault for not making sure there was enough money showing in the account,will be transfering £3000 in today and looks like will have to let it sit there just to please the Embassy.I sent them downloaded copies of on line banking and have noted there is no mention on them of an agreed overdraft of £1000 which does show on the paper statements the bank send me.perhaps a lesson for us to learn.

I still think my bank statements should have been ok,I dont know where they get a figure of£694.51 from because there is not one statement submitted with this amount showing.There is no cash shown as drawn from this account as I draw it from my business acc.

I am very doubtful now of the VFS office in Bangkok as to what documentation is being forwarded my mates girlfriend submitted an application on the same day and her letter from her employer was not submitted and she is doing an open university degree and that paperwork was not seen again.

I am assuming that the paperwork that you pick up from the VFS in their envelope is the only documentation that the Embassy have seen,so the days of put everything in which you think may help are gone?

If I get the decision overturned what about the refusal stamp in her passport and when I apply in the future what do I write on the application form when it asks have you ever been refused a visa to the UK?

Here is the exact wording of the refusal

You have applied for an entryclearance to the United Kingdomas a visitor.however I am not satisfiedyou meet the requirements of paragraph 41of the immigration rulesand in particular that:

You can maintain and accomodate yourself adequately from resources available to you,or from relatives or friends,without recourse to public funds or taking employment.

Because

You also failed to demonstratehow you will finance your holiday in the UK of 5 weeks.You have provided two bank statementsof your sponserwhich indicates he has just £694.51 of available funds.This is arguably,an insufficientamount of money to fund your visit.I am therefore not satisfied that you can maintain and accomodate yourself adequately from resources available to you,or from relatives or friends,without recourse to public funds or taking employment.

Your application has been considered on the basis of the papers and documents submitted and without an interview.I am aware that you have been given every opportunity to provide any documents you wish in support of your application.

You are right there are a few doubters about me!!! I have just called to an internet shop to see if there are any useful replies before I head off to the airport to fly to the UK.I will post the actual wording on the refusal when I get home tomorrow.To answer some of your questions yes I have sponsered her on all applications and I know if I make another application after transfering a couple of thousand pounds from my business account into my private then I am sure the application would be successful,but that is not the point of this thread.The only difference between this application and the first was I had a higher credit balance (2000 pounds) than this time as I use my money in my business.As stated before I transfer 2000 a month and my fixed outgoings are about 1000 the rest pays credit card bills which are used in Thailand and to pay for flights etc and I have been to Thailand 3 times oct,nov and dec so there has been a few expenses recently but only gone overdrawn twice by about 80 quid in my opinion the bank statement doesn't look too bad but this is why I included a copy of my accounts with a turnover of over a million a year means on average I bank 80,000 a month which I think gives me more than adequate access to funds to sponser my GF.Got to go or will miss my flight!!

I,ve stated that we have travelled to these places in the last couple of years together to help justify our on going relationship.If you take the trouble to read the visa on arrival stamps in your passport for Malaysia,Vietnam,hong kong,Macau and Indonesia they all have a time limit, most 30 days so she has not overstayed in any of these countries and they are VISA,S.

Absolutely no major change to my circumstances and I am a car dealer in the UK so my stock is easily changed into cash.I put 2000 pounds a month into my current account and if I need more I draw a cheque from my business acc.This was her 2nd visa so I thought it was just a formality but I still put all the documents and photos in as if it was a 1st application.I am absolutely livid about this and will do anything to get this corrected.

Unfortunately I only brought one copy of my accounts with me but I fly home tomorrow so will take up the case when I return home.Could someone please tell me what is involved in a judicial review.

Just been to pick up my GF.s passport after applying for her 2nd visit visa and been refused on the grounds that 2 of my bank statements only show 694 pounds in credit ( quote),this being arguably an insufficientamont of money to fund your visit.I transfer 2000 pounds a month into my private acc. from my business acc.to pay household bills etc and to justify my ability to pay I included with the documentation a copy of my business audited accounts showing nearly 100,000 pounds in stock and cash.

When I picked up the envelope from VFAC the copy of the accounts were not returned so were probably never submitted by the VFAC to the embassy.

I feel I have just been robbed of the best part of 5000 baht and had a refusal notice entered in her passport.We have travelled extesively around Asia and Australia France Spain in the last 12 months.

Is there any thing I can do to get this decision overturned as to me it is a matter of principle that I have submitted Accounts which satisfy the inland revenue as to my wealth but another Gov. dept fails to recognise.

Any advice please.......

I have just downloaded the visit visa form VFA1 and notice that the 10 year multiple entry option is still available on the form.I was under the impression that this option has been stopped does anyone know what the position is at present?

I was hoping to apply for the 10 year visa to stop my GF having to go through the performance of the application every year.

She has only had 1 visit visa to the UK last year but has had Aussie,Indonesia, Malaysian,Schengen(france and Spain)Vietnamese,Hong kong and Macau visa's because we have travelled a lot within Asia her passport is well filled with stamps Has anyone obtained a 10 year visit visa and what are my chances of success?

No problems bringing liquids through bkk have taken 2 500 ml bottles of diet coke with a little alcohol added to help with the flight packed at home in hand luggage.Different coming from LHR have to buy everything in duty free and then put in hand luggage.

The best hotel would probably be the Pan Pacific which is located on the airport and close to the circuit,I've stayed a few times and its very good but I think you've left it a bit late as I think you will find a lot of hotels are already booked and when I was in KL last month I noticed most hotels exclude their normal rates for the period of the GP.KL is about 40 miles from the circuit and takes just under an hour from the centre.

I read last week in a couple of papers that Air Asia and One to go were looking at going back to the old airport.Has anyone heard any more?

The City Beach Hotel is probably the most central,easy walking distance to all the restaurants etc.Have just stayed at the Grand and Plaza Hotel which was OK but about 600 mtres to the City beach Hotel but a short stroll to the new Tesco Lotus Mall which is probably one of the best in Thailand.

At the moment 12th nov no car parking charges are being made at all.Just used the long term parking for a 3 day trip to Malaysia,the shuttle buses are just old passenger buses with no luggage facilities and 2 huge steps to lug your bags up and on the return to the car park we even had to change buses!!!

The shuttle bus signs are virtually non existant but it operates from ground floor far left hand when you exit the terminal.At the moment stick it in the short stay and stroll into the terminal.

The visa must be issued by the Embassy of the country of initial entry into Europe so will depend on how quickly the embassy handles the application,I got one from the French Embassy in 3 days.The visa must also be issued in the country her passport was issued so you can't get a visa in London at a later date.

Spent a week in Vietnam in july.Three days in Saigon and then by hydrofoil to Vung Tau which is a beach resort about 1 1/2 hours away.Lots of shopping in large stores and markets TGF could not get any spicy food the vietnamese food tends to be more sweet and sour.I think a few days in Saigon would have been enough.
