  1. I used to rent from the airport and the easiest to use is AVIS,their office is in terminal 2 and the cars are parked just outside. As regards driving when leaving the airport you have to u-turn to be able to head north and the u-turn is just after the domestic teminal KEEP LEFT and you will see.The motorway will take you north towards Ayutthaya or Saraburi.Cars cost about 1400 baht a day but you can book online and will get a discount for more than 7 days.

  2. I am also looking to travel to London on 25th april and like you have had no luck finding any cheap flights.Thai airways and Eva air have released cheap flights London- bangkok for april and may £320 and £340 plus tax perhaps they will follow suit in Thailand as this is obviously a low season for them.I have a UK travel agent checking with their partner agent in Bangkok for tickets, will let you know if I come up with anything.

  3. I was in Thailand for christmas and thought it would be a good time to get a visit visa for my GF to visit in 2006.We entered a travel date of 24th april but when the clerk who inspects the paperwork before submission to the ECO saw the date he instructed my GF to come back nearer the date, luckily my GF had the idea to say she had made a mistake on the form and we would be travelling on the 24 th feb and she altered the form appropriatley. We got the visa but dated from the 13th dec so from what I can make of the rules her travel must be completed by the 13th june, which is ok for us as I planned for her to stay until 4th june.I really don't know how to post date a visa there is no facility on the form to do so.

  4. I went to the domestic terminal to park for a weeks holiday to Phuket but the car park appeared full,so I drove past and you can u-turn back towards the international terminal within the airport grounds.I went about 100yards and there was a security guy standing by the side of a service area,my GF asked where we could park and he pointed to a spot just opposite the terminal.Gave him 200 baht everyone happy !!!

  5. Thanks for the info but trying to book air ticketts out of Bangkok whilst in the UK is not the easiest task and normally involves a lot of e-mails and difficult to make payment.I have booked a flight from UK to Perth OZ with stop over in Bangkok each way and needed to book the Bangkok /Perth flight for my GF.have now managed to do through www.huayuntravel.com which allows you to book on line but I couldn't seem to be able to make payment with my credit card.

The agent has been very helpful and I have now paid by bank transfer and had the e-ticket faxed to me.

  6. Just a quick thankyou to everyone on the forum who have posted advice on obtaining a visitor visa for my GF to the uk.

The experience was quite daunting for my GF who speaks good English and is confident in conversation, she felt the ECO was trying to catch her out with questions about our travel to malaysia in the past.I had prepared her application in a well presented file using clear plastic pages to contain the information in an easily readable way,on presenting this file she was told to take everything out of the file and hand it in loose form and went to the back of the queue. Then the photo had been paper clipped to the application form not good enough must be glued and back of the queue again.

After arriving at 7:15 she emerged at 11:20 with a receipt to pick up her Visa in 2 days time,I had spent the 4 hours stood on Wireless road inhaling the fumes of the rush hour traffic as there are now no facilities for anyone other than the applicant .The British Embassy have a lot to learn !!!!!!

We then applied for an Australian Visa for travel in Feb thinking the UK visa for use in April will give a good reason to return to Thailand. The visa centre in Thai CC building was user friendly and we pick up the passport tomorrow when we will know if visa granted, will let you all know.

  7. I have tried to find on the forum but have failed,so please help.I hope to travel in Feb to Aus with my Thai GF ,I think I have most paperwork in order but can I as non Aussie make a stat dec as regards supporting my GF in Aus also obviously not too many Aussies in Swansea to witness the Stat dec.Should I write one and get it witnessed by someone from the list of professional people from the UK.Thanks for any help

  8. Thanks again for the members replies, have spent a long time on this forum and it has been extremely helpful in getting the info to prepare the application. If success with UK visa will be applying for an aussie visit visa for a trip in Feb,hoping the uk visa will help with the reason to return to Thailand which seems the big stumbling block.
