  1. First letter in the thia alphanet is in a transliterated form is gorgai.

    Who wrote this cap.

"G" is NOT the transliteration of the first letter of the Thai alphabet.... K is actually more correct.

Both the Royal Thai General System and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA used in most advanced Western dictionaries; and is preferred by most linguists) use "K". The letters that follow are typically "Kh" (Royal Thai) or "Kh" (IPA). The K by itself is the sound without the aspiration (Kh) is an aspirated K. The English G while close in sound (though not exact) -- is used by some other transliteration systems which are aimed at the general (potentially "uneducated) masses who may take Thai as a second language (although often here it is aimed at those that don't even go to class).

Should you not be posting in the Thai Language Forum ,

    But Prey Tell ,

Why do the Thais call places "G" clubs and not "K" clubs.

Please explain with your extensive knowledge of Thai in this particular section of TV and relevant to the OP.

    What's a 'G club' and why so aggressive ?

Well if you dont know you should go at least once , but be sure to go to the atm first though .

And aggresive , no not really just his post is in no way relevenat to the OP and would be more suited to the relevant forum , but then again some people just cant help themselves when they have a grasp of Thai and choose to post at every opportunity they can to impart their knowledge to us mere mortals that may or may not be up to speed on the local dialect.

  3. I would hazard a guess the takings were considerable more when it was the golden bar than what they are now.

More often than not all seats were taken , now , well always looks empty the times ive been in the soi since they opened.

  4. ^^ agreed , if you care to refer to my op.

15 / 20 m away is where everyone can light up and have a smoke.

My op was just a statement of facts.

But to be fair , I wonder what would happen if I switched off the phone and the ignition then sparked up and had a smoke in the car.

  5. I'm curious. What could be the reason to shut the engine and mobile phone off?

Fortunately, even on airplanes, it's not anymore really required to shut down the phone during the take-off and landing.

    ???

Not sure what airlines your with Oil , but for dam sure all domestic flights they do not (want) alllow you to keep your phone on during take off and landing , they even have an issue with your phone in "plane" mode.

But hey what would I know , only do around trip 15 times a month.

Oh well , im gonna tell them next time...

  6. Yeah read the news article and thought the same about enforcement and even with this i think itll be another fly by night non enforced law.

But yup was placed on the hood while they put the gas in , same as the sometimes promos for this or that , but there were quite alot of signs posted everywhere.

This was in the PTT next to boatlagoon today , anyone seen anymore at any other stations ?

  7. In Thai , but it reads that you must switch off your engine and not use your mobile while the gas is being pumped.

Fine is 100,000.00thb and /or 1 year in jail.

Interstingly in this gas station the 7/11 is all but 10 / 15 meters away with a designated smoking area , go figure :-)

  8. Have used booking dot com quite a bit on the mobile app.

Generally cannot book untill the day before or on the day I need a hotel .

Seems the app now "understands" this and from time to time have an email offering some crazy discounts.

The last one I took up was for the following day ( a friday night stay ) at the Landmark on Sukhumvit , standard room 750thb with a 50% offer on the buffet breakfast if i wanted.

When booking I declined but ended up having breakfast and on the off chance asked if i could take up the offer still , was told no as it was a combined offer promotion , however they honoured so quedos to them.

  9. ^^ re reading my own post , it reads quite harsh., apolagies MS.

My intent was to say how can they be making a profit if he came himself , went away , prepared the film , returned with multiple staff and himself and only charged 2k ?

  10. Big Mango: Cynical? Well, we are on the Pattaya Forum....:-)

Not a buddy of Steve's, but very pleased with the TV recommendation and the job done. I can't give you sizes, as not in town/home right now. And probably need to compare apples with apples. Steve had a bunch of imported samples, colors etc. Even so mine was an embarrassing small job, he contacted me right away, stoped by for a quotation and was with his crew a few days later, when they came to install. Rarely seen such a reliable service. Did 3 small windows, a regular window and a full size door, total below 2'000 & the film does exactly what it was installed for. In my case, gives me privacy. Why not give Steve a call and certainly he will be happy to look at your job without obligation. So, really no buddies here, just a simple business transaction, performed as if I was back home. What a surprise....:-) Take it easy MS>

So he called by , showed you the samples available , went away and then returned with his staff a few days later for your small job and charged you 2,000thb all in .

No way is that possible , unless he's running an NFP company.

Ask Steve to PM me please ....
