"Damaged Goods, Do Not Except, Ruined ("Sia" ) is the word they use in Thai, which is like Milk that's been left out of the fridge for a week or more and turned into that yogurt bad smelling stuff you then flush down the toilet.

I always understood 'sia' to mean 'broken'

It is not Thai culture at all to behave like that. I thought you didn't speak to the locals?

I did speak to the locals when I first learned Thai.

Then once I had real experience, I learned to longer interact socially.

Of course I have to speak with the local shopkeepers, but I keep that strictly business.

Best to move your wife away from her former lovers, unless you're prepared to share.

Don't know why this subject has even come up. No one has mentioned the ethnicity of the baby, and why should it matter?

Because if the baby isn't Thai, it has no right to Thai citizenship.

Abandoning the kid, gives it Thai citizenship (apparently), as long as the kid's brown.

And you were the one that brought up 'ethnicity'.

    I only talked about nationality.

My point is there are so many people that would accept a young baby these days into their lives that abandoning one in a box on the roadside is seingly obscene.

Someone's about to give me their 8/9 year old daughter.

    New husband doesn't want her.

This is the way the world works when there is no welfare check attached to a child.

The only place I need the expense of A/C is in my bedroom, but my bedrooms are upstairs. That floor gets hot but is a heat buffer for downstairs (open plan) where only ceiling fans are needed, plus three sets of "French" doors which can be opened if needed...

    Same.

Far better that he obtained a non-O "marriage" visa while still in the USA IMHO. Otherwise, if intending to travel to Thailand with a 1-way flight ticket in anticipation of receiving a 30-day visa-exempt stamp upon arrival, he may well be denied permission to board his flight at the USA airport of origin in the absence of an onward flight ticket out of Thailand within the following 30 days.

Not if he wants to avoid a  'police check'.

Onward ticket from ChiangMai to HCMC (VietJet) $50, no need to use it.

I'm in ChiangMai, and I now get my 1 year multi entry VISA for reason of marriage from Suvannakhet.

It's easy, no hanging around in immigration offices, no proof of money required, no police checks or any of that rubbish.

You do need your original Thai marriage cert.

I don't find the 90 day VISA jumps a chore, Mae Sai is close, and I like 'little' holidays in foreign countries.

    Ditto...

Folk who buy a place on one of those concrete estates where the houses are only a few feet apart will probably have a problem...

Got one of those, no problem air con works fine.

We just use a fan most of the day.

  8. Why?

The Thai government hospitals are great.

MY wife used the government hospital for the birth of our child, and it was way better then the NHS in the UK.

Very thorough and caring, before, during and after. And my misses enjoyed hanging out with all the prospective moms.

They even tested me for diseases that may affect the birth (250bht as I was a foreigner)

Private can be a bit lonely.

You might to need toughen up, me certainly not. Don't have any Judeo-Christian/Protestant values too. Get along fine with most locals and when not, I don't care.

I get along with all locals, mainly 'cos I don't speak to them.

What is the Thailand Age of Consent?

The Age of Consent in Thailand is 15 years old. The age of consent is the minimum age at which an individual is considered legally old enough to consent to participation in sexual activity. Individuals aged 14 or younger in Thailand are not legally able to consent to sexual activity, and such activity may result in prosecution for statutory rape or the equivalent local law.

Age of consent is reduced to 13 years old for married women.

    Sexual Intercourse With A Minor

Section 277 explicitly states that sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 15 who is not the wife or husband shall be liable for imprisonment from four to twenty years. Children cannot consent to sexual intercourse and it is not an excuse.

.......... but if they marry all charges will be dropped.
