He didn't see much of Pattaya with his visit. I suspect large numbers of expats who are not 'loners' do not spend there time in the small part of Pattaya the OP visited, including this expat and others I know.

Majority of Americans Advocate for Military Involvement at Border
newnative replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I consider myself a liberal Democrat and I am in favor of strong border security and preventing illegal immigrants from entering the country. I don't see this as a Democrat or Republican issue at all, but, rather, a national security issue. From the article, this also seems to be the case, with majorities of both parties in favor of using US troops at the border. This should be one issue that both parties could work together to solve. Unfortunately, politics has become so fractured in the US that even issues like this languish for years, from presidential terms of one party to terms of the other party, with not enough getting done, for fear one party or the other will receive credit. -
The only solution is to eliminate parking on all the major roads, starting with North Pattaya Road. Three lanes instead of two allows more cars to get through busy intersections. The road right now is majority red-striped already, so only a small number of cars can park, anyway--but thousands of cars are inconvenienced for those few. Lots of things can be done to improve flow. At the North Pattaya-Sukhumvit intersection, 3 lanes instead of 2 could be striped for right turns from N. Pattaya on to Sukhumvit--drivers are already making a third right turn lane as the backup is often so long. All the major intersections need to be examined for ways like this to improve flow. Narrow side streets should be red-striped to allow parking on only one side of the road. There's lots that could and should be done, but likely won't happen--just meetings like this to 'collaborate' and go through the motions.

Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
newnative replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
We might have considered the Corolla Cross if it had PHEV available, although it's a little smaller than what we want--our current car is a CR-V and we like its size. Instead, we have booked the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV. It's a bigger SUV, about the size of the CR-V, comes very well-equipped, and the starting price is actually less than the Cross. We might opt for the top model, but even that one is only 1,039,000. The Japanese need to do some catching up with the models on offer here. -

Well, once he is thrown into prison, if he ever becomes eligible for parole, the parole board is going to want to see some sort of job skill before they'll even think of granting parole. Likely his pension will be eaten up in legal fees, payoffs, fines, monetary settlements, pay for play in prison, hamburgers, Depends xxxl size adult diapers, and so forth. So, a job skill is going to be sorely needed. Let's do some brain-storming. And, before you ask, no, his only current job skill, grifter, is not going to cut it with the parole board. Yes, I know, he has steadily climbed the ranks and is now at the very top--Grifter of the Highest Order--but, Just being brutally honest here, that's not going to work at all. Sorry--I know he was counting on that. Worst president in US history is also going to be a non-starter with the parole board. In all honesty, it's going to be difficult to classify ex-president as a current job skill right from the get-go and then you have the added fact that he was horrible at it. Perhaps wise to not even mention that to the board. So, as I said, he really needs to learn some sort of job skill while he's locked up. Hmm. He does have those tiny, delicate hands. Bingo! I'm thinking learning the job skill of hand model might just be his ticket out. Phew! Glad we were able to come up with something--especially with so little to work with. Bravo us.

Leaving old, semi-senile Trump as the dead man walking in the election. In his coherent periods, Trump is apparently fit to be tied at this turn of events.

He's human and it was quite long ago. Would it deter me from voting for him ? No. Now, how about a convicted rapist, serial liar, grifter, con man, and multi-felon? Yes.

Elon Musk Extends Invitation to Kamala Harris For Interview
newnative replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Don't even bother with Musk, Kamala. Just another rich guy--why would he even think he was deserving or entitled to interview presidential candidates? Ignore the jerk--and keep doing exactly what you're doing. It's paying off in the polls and driving the MAGAites absolutely nuts. -
